My 1st Encounter went a little like this (it was with my friend one of my friends):

Peco: *UNKNOWN ROAR*

Deviljho: ITS MINE BITCH!

Fighting Q-pecco then all of a sudden....

Deviljho breaks through the side of a mountain right next to me and scares the shit out of me. I try to run away but it killed me anyway (with one blow).

Jho is really quite easy if u have good gear. This happened to me he wiped me out with one hit! Now I'm hr52 I fight him all him all the time. He is easy compared to alatreon.

The first time I encountered it was during the "Avenge the Fallen" quest with Barroth. We were just battling Barroth in area 8 of the Sandy Plains when he showed up. Dang that Jho is Friggin strong! i tried that on the 1st time and all my team paniced so they left while i was still fighting Quru and all of the sudden Jho Got me with his friggin tail... ._. any advice to avoid him? i need Qurup[eco Wings, Wonderful beaks, and Qurpeco+ items....Whats the best way to get them?

@wiiveteran21 use Sonic Bombs to stop Peco from summoning monsters. Jho is summoned 1/3rd of the time. If Jho does pop up, lob a dung bomb at him and he'll leave. You should always carry dungs.

Don't fight Jho unless you have fully upgraded armor and a strong dragon or electric weapon. Most importantly, don't fight him if he's pissed off, since he'll use dragon breath which has incredible range and is an almost guaranteed 1hit ko. His bites also inflict Defense Dwn on you when he gets hungry.

@wiiveteran21 All monsters get a massive damage/health boost in High Rank quests. You'll be better off sacrificing whatever decent skill armor sets you have right now for some of the crazy defense High Rank armor sets (Jaggi+ and Rathian+ are very good and easy to get). Later on you can upgrade your low rank armor to high-rank, so they get defense boosts but keep their skills/number of slots. This is also pretty easy on the high-rank materials.

@wiiveteran21 Also if Jho grabs you, you can use a Dung bomb on him (it'll be the only useable item). Your hunter will, hilariously enough, throw one into his mouth and he'll immediately stop eating you and back off.

Don't fight him until you're HR51+. You need Conqueror Seals to make most of his stuff anyways (which is HR51+ only), so there's really not much point, and odds are you can't hurt it yet unless you found a stellar ice/dragon weapon that doesn't bounce off him.

That being said they would be caught off gaurd about how powerful Peco is too. Even if that is not the case... this video doesn't start from when the Jho first arrives. So the deaths could of all taken place from fighting Jho. Either way... its easy to assume they failed from being new to high lvl rank missions and not from poor play style.

Well, honestly, that's not a very good hammer... I'd rather see someone with a better hammer (sharpness and atk power-wise) at that point in the game, and if they insist on dealing status, then they can use another weapon class that's more suited for status... The only para-hammer worth using in this game is Iron Devil, but that's not something you'd be able to make/awaken at that point in the game anyways

Hell, I used that Hammer instead of the Vortex Hammer on LR Rathalos and killed him faster with the Para hammer.

It's the not the weapon, it's how you use it.
