  • gayest shit ive ever seen in my life.....i laughed throughout the whole vid LMFAO!

  • what do you call cymbal playing? cymbalism.

  • I played cymbals. And it wasn't because I couldn't play. I was pit percussion section leader, and one of the few in percussion that could play mallets as well as drums. There was no one in battery that wanted to play cymbals because when you fuck up on cymbals it's very noticeable, so basically the pit ending up having to play the parts for them. It was high school but the statement still stands.

  • I Hate the way the cymbals sound when they hold them like that

  • Hmm They're really good at bangin. And sense I'm a baritone player I'm good at blowing. Guess we were made for each other, huh? <3

  • I love cymbal lines so much. <3

  • lol.... cymbals.

  • i think i just turned gay\

  • oh hell naw man the cymbal line is the group that gets you visual effect

  • dis is some bullshit

  • I'm on one of the more fortunate cymbal lines with an actual cymbal tech. Josh Batson is an awesome teacher.

  • I am playing cymbals. Its my first year to play the cymbals, and ive learned how to do all this and more. I do a trick where i throw the cymbal to the back of my hand, and let the cymbal fly around my wrist. Im the 1st cymbal.

  • kudos to all of the people who have actually played cymbals and know how physically challenging they are. for people who say its easy, try having to lift 10 pound weights. and hold them there. and pump them up and down in time to music. with 4 other people. not so easy now, huh.

  • im trying out for an indoor lne this november, our percussion tech at school is th lead cymbalist. i'm def excited (:

  • if people are honestly going to diss cymbals, they have no idea the talent, upper arm strength, visuals, and precision it takes to be a solid, amazing cymbal player.

  • @smitz111090 try carrying a marching baritone for an entire show that's upper body strength.....

  • @matman841996 better yet, marching euph

  • they didn't spin them... you cant be afraid to spin the 20's and break your thumb. its happened to everyone in my cymbal line

but otherwise, very very tight and unified. almost seemless, but they didnt spin them...

  • navy is a hater i do it big as a UVa Cavalier marching Cymbal I've played since high school and cymbal players can do it big this year we got 3 snare drummers playing with us. they were good at snare but we needed 2 phil up the cymbals.

  • it takes good hard work to play cymbals, its not as easy as it looks. those cymbals can be heavy as shit after holding them up for a long period of time

  • Ninjas...

  • from a guy whose played it all - bass, tenor, snare, cymbals - the hardest one i had to do was cymbals, then bass, then tenor, then snare... Now this was in highschool and college, never at a drum corps level.

  • Now I see why many drum corps dont have cymbal lines anymore. their pointless to have. The pit can do the exact same, and more

  • Comment removed

  • terry??

  • Yeah thats the one thanks

  • lol, stalking becky?

  • she taught me marching style and i couldn't remember her last name and it was one of those things.. just eating at me.. you know?

  • I know someone that would know...He marched crossmen cymbals and he was my cymbal tech for capital regiment 02-03

  • im a snare and tenor player and omg i wish i could play cymbals sometimes, they are so cool to whach cymbal players are the shit

  • I've been playing cymbals for 6 years. I'm just now starting to get into visuals. our band director finally realized that in order to win some competitions we need to be more visually dynamic, not just able to march well down the street. (we only do parades)

  • all we do is visuals we

still play, but we do cartwheels in our show this year

  • oh cool. i can't even do a normal cartwheel. i doubt i'd be able to do one, with cymbals, in my band uniform (which has a skirt), while marching down a city street.

  • cymbals are easier only in the reading music aspect

  • yea dude its funny isn't people write off the plate line as talentless poons.try holding 21 heavy paistes or stadiums up for a minute then see whos a poon.and cymbal drill is hard fuckin jazz running.acnd cymbals need need to be good cause if your not staff won't have a cymbal the year after cause there not needed.unless your scv although i love madison

  • well. people who say that kind of thing are obviously not into drum corps. hey, scv is my favorite corps. hell im in scv cadets. but crossmen is still a pretty cool corps. and the cymbal line is beastly.

  • lol but 6th and7th graders cant march cymbals in a show. it may look easy, but in my opinion i think its pretty hard with all the visuals

  • oh no, I didnt mean it was easy hah, look at SCV cymbals their freaking crazy, im saying that we let 6th and 7th graders do cymbals if they want to march but dont want to much of a burden since they are still learning to read music. But in all points proven cymbals are definately hard to play if you play them right

  • It's sad how cymbal lines have just become pretty much the group of people who can't play.

In my old high school people who couldn't play just didn't even make the drumline. Simple as that.

Our cymbal line was awesome. It's nothing to be ashamed of to play cymbals, and it requires it's own kind of talent if you want to actually do some of the cool stuff.

  • people at my school are SCARED to play cymbals, our head drum tutor did a recruitment assembly and showed most of the marching drum instruments and played cymbals like a beast (in my opinion) and now no one at all is willing to play cymbals.

  • @Navyenru

well said, same goes for the front ensemble, its so annoying how people say that cymbals and pit are for rejects, because both of them require an excellent amount of skills

  • @Navyenru I hate when people dont think im good cause I march cymbals. When I was actually suppose to play timpani in our marching band but he let me choose timpani or cymbals, and i wanted to march, and i get crap for it usually, but i love it.

  • @Navyenru Let me guess, those who couldn't play were made conductors instead?

  • @Clarinerd617 if someone cant play, what makes you think they can conduct? Conducting takes a lot more skill than you think

  • @IndoMie18 wow, a Music Theory Major! (music theory majors never have a sense of humor)

  • @Navyenru

I think its because now a days everything people do has to "get you somewhere." To be honest, playing cymbals like this does not get you anywhere. And therefore people don't take pride in it as they used to.

  • @Navyenru You are a tool

  • @Navyenru drum corps cymbal lines are not comprised of "people who can't play" high schools yes, people only play cymbals in hopes of soon playing a drum because they don't know about this kind of cymbal playing. I guarantee any drum corps cymbal player can kick your ass.

  • @caarisss I think he was defending cymbal players, don't get pissed

  • @caarisss oh tht is it! I'm in high school, and I am a cymbal player! >:( I was offered a spot as snare drum but turned it down becuz I love playing my cymbals! U do not hav the rights 2 assume we r all the same. Plus I am learning all these cool tricks!

  • @livluvlaughladygaga You're right I can't assume that.. I've met a few people who chose cymbals right off the bat in high school and that's great.. I marched a year of cymbals in college so I'm not just some jerk making random comments.. Good for you I hope you continue playing cymbals.. The point I was trying to make is that you can't make the assumption that ALL cymbals players are just drummers cut form the line. Because corps cymbal lines are very good at what they do.

  • @caarisss i went to a high school where none of the cymbal players were percussionists and we all chose to play cymbals and we werent a cymbal line of the people who couldnt play we chose to play cymbals and we did it well. You shouldnt lump all high schools together and say all high school cymbal lines are full bad percussionists. escambia 2011 cymbal line check it out.

  • @Navyenru modern society that doesn't know better, including my self a little, associates cymbals as a non male instrument for percussion, not so much that the baddies get put there.

  • @Navyenru actually. I play cymbals. and all the other percussion. and sax. and the clarinet instruments. and a bit of piano vocals and violin. therefore. you are wrong. not all people on the cymbal line can't play.

  • @Navyenru Bring it on then. My drumline against yours.

  • @Navyenru Yea, I agree. even though its supposed to be a Drum LINE its more of a ladder, with cymbals on the bottom. You can do alot of cool stuff if you realize you are pretty much the best drumline people for tricks and such.

  • Thats was so cool!

  • BEASTS!

  • amazingg. looks like they do more visuals than playing

  • Thats what cymbals are mostly about.

  • nice nice nice.. keeping and eye out on the crossmen..great work.

  • language.

  • THAT IS FUCKING AWSOME

  • FUCK WIT IT
