Well he does considerably better than his son will do against Luke Skywalker in return of the jedi. Boba Fett lasts less than a minute in that battle, but in fairness the salient factor in his demise is a spectacularly unluckly whack to his rocket pack from Han Solo. It's quite ironic, when I was a kid I always wished that Boba had had a much more dramatic fight sequence with Luke in return, never knowing that he would be so popular his dad would become a main character in one of the new films.
@heavymetal162 Maybe he softened the blows a bit with the Force? :P How did Anakin survive being on fire on Mustafar for an extended period of time, and how did the fire go out? How did Luke survive falling hundreds of feet down in Empire after jumping to escape Vader? Sometimes you just have to take that leap and go with it. :P
Each movie is awesome in its own way, imo. I guess if I HAD to choose one that I liked least, it would probably be Episode II, since C-3PO's antics in the droid factory annoy me a bit, but that's it. :P The movie's still great. Every one of these movies is better than the majority of crap out there, I say!
I think as a stand along trillogy Eps 1, 2 and 3 are actually very good films indeed. They obviously not as good as the original trillogy, but they're not as bad as everyone seems to say.
@sandreid87 yeah but still..OB1 is practically a regular guy here in a bar fight. How about a force push, crazy flip light saber move, something..I mean I can watch a 1 year karate dude and be more entertained by fight moves.
@petefaders . . . and Jango was supposed to be an inately tough and talented badass of a bounty hunter who was the genetic template for almost every soldier in the Grand Army of the Republic.
@Agahnim18 Im not talking about Jango being good, I'm taking about ob1 sucking here. Remember he beat Darth Vader...twice. I guess by that logic, Jango could have beat darth vader..lol. These movies suck.
Anyway, no, that doesn't mean Jango could have beaten Vader. First, he didn't beat Obi-Wan; he escaped, with help. Second, just because Obi-Wan beat Anakin, that doesn't mean anyone who beats Obi-Wan can beat Anakin. A real world example: Joe Frazier beat Muhammad Ali once, and then he was destroyed by George Foreman who was in turn defeated by Muhammad Ali. Surely Foreman should have destroyed Ali, by your logic.
Jango is a mercenary for hire. The Clone Troopers were officially being made for the republic by order of a long dead Jedi. And that is the simple truth. Though it was made so that the Republic would have believed they were made for the separatists with the republic being just a cover up for the caminoans. Pretty clever plan by Sidious, who played both Hero and Villain only so that his rise to absolute power would be legit.
Jango making me squeal with excitement? Sorry, his accent takes out anything that might have made him intimidating.
And if you honestly think, Attack of the Clones is any good, I suggest you look up the Plinkett review of the film. He will show you a whole new perspective that you never even considered.
@PedroTheHutt The thing about reviews, dude....they're opinion-based, which means it doesn't matter what kind of review you read; it can't tell you EXACTLY what a movie is like
The RLM reviews don't simply "tell people what the movies are like". He analyses the story in depth and concludes quite clearly that the movies are very badly written.
@Nineteen1900Hundred Yeah, you pretty much just proved my point. I'll tell you how:
You say the reviews ANALYZE the story, and CONCLUDE. Analysis and conclusion are opinion-based; it's how the individual see it from his/her own perspective. Hey, I'm not saying the prequels are the best or anything; of course the original trilogy is better; always will be. But I don't think they suck.
@Agahnim18 What can I say? His New Zealand accent is one of the least threatening accents I've ever heard. Plus the story itself indicates he can't be ~that~ good at his job if he, as a bounty hunter, hires ANOTHER bounty hunter to try and kill Padmé.
@PedroTheHutt ahaha I like both the prequels and OT but that guy's reviews are funny, thanks for telling xD ps Jango's voice is awesome imo lol, it's a matter of taste.
Always had an issue with Obi throwing that tracker on that ship. That ship cannot be tracked that way. Hate to nerd out,but that is a special police ship that has sensors especially for things like that.
The fact that Jango Fett can hold his own against a guy who can reflect blaster bolts shows how good of a bounty hunter he is. It's only right that his son then goes on to become the next "Deadliest Bounty Hunter in the Galaxy".
Many people think Attack of the Clones was the worst of the six films. I say it has a lot of redeeming qualities that people often omit when taking it into consideration. Yes, it does lack action, and yes Hayden Christensen is a terrible actor, but almost all of the action scenes were amazing. Every scene with Jango Fett just made you want to squeal with excitement. I think if the Battle of Geonosis scene had been a little longer people would have a much more positive opinion of this film.
@AntiTheory People need to lay of Hayden, he's a fine actor but he was given terrible material to work with. If you want to see him act with better material check out Jumper
Genosis should have been a little longer!?!?...the battle felt interminable and had none of the tension of hoth or any other large scale conflict from the original. It was robots, bugs, and clones...take your pick of who we should give a shit about, because somewhere between episode VI and I Lucas fired anyone who told him a film needs a protagonist the audience likes.
@rrrevan Leaving aside the fact that character popularity is entirely subjective, there are tons of fan favorite characters that have come from the prequels! Also, I quite enjoyed the battle on Geonosis, thanks.
@AntiTheory Personally, Episdode 2 and 3 were perfectly fine to me. Episode 1 was the worst of the prequels. It wasn't TERRIBLE, but it was too over the top.
the prequels were not that bad. they all contributed something good here and there. i think they were just pretty tuned up with the expectations and standards of modern movie audiences, which has dulled in recent years. Lucas by this point had been in the business long enough to know what sells and how to make the money and he didnt have to create anything from scratch, so maybe unlike before, there was no financial risks and nothing to prove to anyone.
yes ive seen his review (EP1 review)...very entertaining and insightful, but its still just opinion. redletter has many good points on why the movies were technically not well crafted films, but it still doesnt hit the notion that some people hate these movies simply because they didnt provide that sense of nostalgia they expected. thats one reason i think explains the irrational hatred for these movies.
@etheangel2220 I think most of the hate comes from the fact that they are just good movies. Watch these movies as if they were not Star Wars movies and you can still see that they are just not that good. Many people believe that this was just because in the original movies Lucas was told no when his ideas were shit. These days Lucas has the money to do w/e he wants and doesn't have anyone to tell him it's shit. The guy created something that was amazing but he still has bad ideas.
@dilt4 I wouldn't say that. IMHO, Lucas' great problem is that he's more at home with the technological aspects of filmmaking, but completely lost when it comes to the emotional side of it. I really think he should have followed through with his original plans just to be an executive producer of the prequels and leave the direction to others. I don't care who you are; Fox should not hand over anything to someone who hasn't directed a movie in 22 years, and that one being his third overall.
@cubdukat I don't think Fox regrets letting Lucas make his own films, what with these movies pulling in a ton of cash and being hugely beloved by people all over the world, despite what those crazy bandwagoners would have you believe.
@Agahnim18 But you can't deny that the only reason they did it was because he was George Lucas. If you want an example of what can happen when you do that like Fox did, rent "Heaven's Gate." The movie ruined Michael Cimino's career and nearly destroyed MGM and UA.
@dilt4 Actually, I think it's the other way around. People hate on them BECAUSE they're Star Wars and because they are not carbon copies of the older ones. Watching them with no bias, I believe most people would find them to be pretty damn good. I've said for a long time that if this trilogy (I-III) was released first, people would be shooting out the same half-formed nonsense about episodes IV-VI. No one has yet to give me any reason to think otherwise.
@Nineteen1900Hundred Those reviews are hardly objective. You're telling me people hate them because they decided to dislike them first, on principle, then tacked on shitty, unconvincing reasons for their irrational hate?
No I'm not telling you that. The prequel trilogy are OBJECTIVELY bad movies. The stories literally make NO SENSE. Seriously. Re-watch RedLetterMedia's reviews and he clearly explains why the stories make no sense whatsoever.
These movies are pretty damn simple, too. How is it that I, and a bunch of other people who discuss the story and themes, know exactly what happened and what it was all about?
Also, really, the RLM reviews? Really!?! They're a complete crock. The man twists and turns facts, ignores others, and creates his own. I can't see how anyone could be pulled in by that trash. :/
It's not the themes that are the problem. It's not the idea of anything. It's the plot. The plot does not make any sense. It's broken as a story. Characters do things which don't make any sense either. Is that fact meant to have an artistic goal? Do me a favour, watch at least one video of RLM's reviews and see if the story or plot or characters or dialogue actually make logical sense.
@Nineteen1900Hundred According to those biased, misleading reviews, no, they don't make sense. According to the movies themselves, yes, they make a lot of sense. Again, how is it that I, and a bunch of other people who discuss the story and themes, know exactly what happened and what it was all about?
Yes I know what objective means, but I do not think it means what you think it means. Objectively analysing something reveals the mechanics and the structure of something, regardless of personal belief. It's almost like a science.
So your saying the prequels weren't that bad...and then you admit lucas is a soulless corporate man that new he could throw together shitty dialogue and endless plot holes because he knew anything with the word star wars on it would sell.
You were absolutely right in your assesment of lucas but these prequels were atrocious. Lucas, like every other ego maniac director that gets complete creative control, gets far too much credit for the originals
@rrrevan You're giving him far too little credit. Also, egomaniac? Soulless? Have you ever seen, listened to, or read an interview with the man? You seem to like weaving your own narrative about things and passing them off as fact.
Eh. Episode II and III were pretty good, but nothing compared to the original trilogy. Then again, it's incredibly difficult to pass up the original trilogy. But for their efforts, they weren't so bad. Episode I, however, is just plain embarrassing. All of the prequels have interesting stories, they just weren't well executed, ESPECIALLY Episode I. That had so much potential, but oh my gosh... I think I had more excitement watching grass grow, dear God...
@cofF3erulez Well I suppose the clothing of a Jedi could be fire resistant, other than when Mace Windu's clothing caught on fire when Jango Fett used his flame thrower. However, the job falls on your shoulders to prove a laser isn't light in Star Wars. Because that is exactly what a laser is.
And no one knew the Death Star was going to blow up Alderann. Besides why are we arguing over this? Everyone knows the prequels sucked
Sorry there is no nice way to say it. Fire can still burn in pouring rain for starters. Lasers are not fire, they are LIGHT that travels. Rain would have absolutely no effect on traveling light. Walk outside when it rains, turn a flashlight on and shine it to the ground. You'll see light.
i love all the star wars movies i liked this one i think it could of redeemed itself if there was more action with jango fett instead of just this one fightscene i love it but needed more bounty hunter killing should of had him kill jar jar lol
you gotta rmr bounty hunters are equipped with the best stuff in the galaxy, thers even such things tht absorbs force powers, like suits and bein a bounty hunter fett probably had a suit like tht, tht being why obi couldnt use the force on him, that or obi wan wasnt gd enough with the force to throw ppl around just yet
@MonsterHuntingFTW i read up on the lore of bounty hunters in the star wars universe and this is jango going easy on obi wan, using only blasters, a rocket and his jetpack and the grappling wire, i read that assassin droids and bounty hunters use sonic grenades on force users to disrupt their conentration and they use other grenades like poison something a jedi cant deflect with his lightsaber
I liked some of the set pieces from ep.1 like the beginning fights, and the final battle with maul (but overall it was poor), enjoyed 2 outside of Lucas' love scene sap drivel, and loved 3. And love the original trilogy, but that doesn't have to be said ;).
Be a funny way to die if just slip and fell into the water

Don't know if anyone besides me notices some details about this fight...
1) Jango has two pistols
2) Jango only loses ONE pistol after getting kicked by Obi-Wan
3) Jango still has one pistol in his holster (if you look carefully)
4) Jango headbutts Obi-Wan and there is at least a 3-4 second gap when Obi-Wan is on the ground vulnerable without his lightsaber
5) Instead of shooting Obi-Wan, Jango ignites his jetpack and uses his whipcord
6) ........WHY?
tl;dr Jango could have won the fight easily

No one has yet to give me any reason to think otherwise.
Agahnim18 1 month ago
@Agahnim18 No these movies are just bad. It's easy to see that.

@dilt4 Okay.

@Nineteen1900Hundred Those reviews are hardly objective. You're telling me people hate them because they decided to dislike them first, on principle, then tacked on shitty, unconvincing reasons for their irrational hate?
Agahnim18 1 month ago
@Agahnim18
No I'm not telling you that. The prequel trilogy are OBJECTIVELY bad movies. The stories literally make NO SENSE. Seriously. Re-watch RedLetterMedia's reviews and he clearly explains why the stories make no sense whatsoever.
Nineteen1900Hundred 1 month ago
@Nineteen1900Hundred . . .
Do you know what objective means?
These movies are pretty damn simple, too. How is it that I, and a bunch of other people who discuss the story and themes, know exactly what happened and what it was all about?
Also, really, the RLM reviews? Really!?! They're a complete crock. The man twists and turns facts, ignores others, and creates his own. I can't see how anyone could be pulled in by that trash. :/
Agahnim18 1 month ago
@Agahnim18

@Agahnim18
Do you want me to list all the things wrong with Attack of the Clones alone?
Nineteen1900Hundred 1 month ago
@Agahnim18
Yes I know what objective means, but I do not think it means what you think it means. Objectively analysing something reveals the mechanics and the structure of something, regardless of personal belief. It's almost like a science.

@etheangel2220
Lucas, like every other ego maniac director that gets complete creative control, gets far too much credit for the originals
rrrevan 2 months ago
@rrrevan You're giving him far too little credit. Also, egomaniac? Soulless? Have you ever seen, listened to, or read an interview with the man? You seem to like weaving your own narrative about things and passing them off as fact.
Agahnim18 1 month ago
I think I had more excitement watching grass grow, dear God...

drumbeeter 9 months ago
@cofF3erulez Well I suppose the clothing of a Jedi could be fire resistant, other than when Mace Windu's clothing caught on fire when Jango Fett used his flame thrower. However, the job falls on your shoulders to prove a laser isn't light in Star Wars. Because that is exactly what a laser is.
And no one knew the Death Star was going to blow up Alderann. Besides why are we arguing over this? Everyone knows the prequels sucked
Berengier817 9 months ago
@cofF3erulez You're an idiot.
Sorry there is no nice way to say it. Fire can still burn in pouring rain for starters. Lasers are not fire, they are LIGHT that travels. Rain would have absolutely no effect on traveling light. Walk outside when it rains, turn a flashlight on and shine it to the ground. You'll see light.

you gotta rmr bounty hunters are equipped with the best stuff in the galaxy, thers even such things tht absorbs force powers, like suits and bein a bounty hunter fett probably had a suit like tht, tht being why obi couldnt use the force on him, that or obi wan wasnt gd enough with the force to throw ppl around just yet
Brady2k10 11 months ago
@Brady2k10 obi wan was good enough to use the force entirely, he was a master at this stage. must have been the other one
MonsterHuntingFTW 11 months ago
@MonsterHuntingFTW i read up on the lore of bounty hunters in the star wars universe and this is jango going easy on obi wan, using only blasters, a rocket and his jetpack and the grappling wire, i read that assassin droids and bounty hunters use sonic grenades on force users to disrupt their conentration and they use other grenades like poison something a jedi cant deflect with his lightsaber
Brady2k10 11 months ago
@Brady2k10 yea. another thing jedi cant block are the sonic shots used by genosians

They should have made this fight longer and cut out some of the love drivel...
Also, Jango shouldn't have "forgotten" about his 2nd blaster...
nahor88 11 months ago
I liked some of the set pieces from ep.1 like the beginning fights, and the final battle with maul (but overall it was poor), enjoyed 2 outside of Lucas' love scene sap drivel, and loved 3. And love the original trilogy, but that doesn't have to be said ;).

Am I the only one who was thinking "Use the force!" the whole time? At the same time, the physical struggle makes the fight more interesting.

I didnt like ep 1 because it seemed boring, ep 2 is better since it has many fight scenes. Ep 3 was epic for me.

Very cool scene. :)
Azarelius 1 year ago
The scene is cool, no doubt. But when you consider that you KNOW obi-wan has to survive, it takes the dramatic tension completely out of the fight.
thepatient08 1 year ago
Why didn't Obi-Wan use the force and get his lightsaber, thereby cutting down Jango Fett?

anyone else wouldve died 5 times over id get it

Lucas intentionally had Jango hit his head at 2:40 in this scene as an homage to the most famous blooper in Star Wars history.
