  • Great video. The question I have is: who performs the law enforcement function in the RAF? Who serves as gate guards, performs law enforcement patrols? Who is authorized to arrest A.F. memebers who break the law and bring them up on charges?

  • raf police?

  • Military Police

  • Do you mean Royal Corp of Military Police? Army M.P.s? In the USAF, Security Forces perform both airfield defense functions and law enforcement.

  • 63. Squadron should be the Royal guard, not this 51.

  • @oldeafcoot The law enforcers are the RAF Police, they have the same powers of arrest as the Royal Military Police and can be distinguished in a crowd by the white hats they wear hence why they are "affectionately" known as Snow Drops.

By gate guards I presume you are referring to the people on the main gate. This is a duty which all junior ranks of every trade, (LAC's, SAC's and Cpl's) will do throughout their career on their camps.

  • It was a dry tour so hence why they had a few coughs as that was only booze they had!

No women are in regular service with Raf Regt, our clerk (RAF) was present hence the ladie's mention. If you ever see a female with our mudguards on they are Auxiliaries attached to a unit. One was on tour but not on patrol duties and helped man the CP or so I think.

  • From Safwan to Kandahar, never thought I would miss 51 so much. Nor would I thought Piper would be playing his cat again on Ops. Best regards to you all from NZ. Ed H. God rest you Chris.

  • whoa, there are quite a lot of people there, i heard your officer say men and women, i thought women cannot be in the regiment? or are they just non fighting people who like work in an office?

  • women can be in the regiment just not a gunner

  • oh, ok then so i was right then!

  • Its port that they got a drink off. Have had it on a few parades and all you hear is coughing as its horrible lol.

  • the lads were granted special permission to drink a "glass" of port

  • What is the minimum length of service as a gunner?

  • hey did anyone find out the minimum length of service?

  • did you find the answer? I can't find an answer to that question anywhere!

  • you initially sign up for 9 years but you can get out after 3

  • You have to serve a minimum of 6 years,

    mate.)
