Beautiful old building, horrid extension. Didn't really like the couple either, strangely. Usually the people are so likeable!

Grand designs is beconing very samey and stale. Get couple with the odd £800, 000 to spare. Design a white open space cube with large bespoke industrial windows. Paint everthing white, because obviously thats cutting edge. Then rinse and repeat. Voila you have a whole series of grand designs with not a jaded feel about it....honest

This is the absolute worst addition that I have ever seen. What a waste of money and a good lesson on howto really ruin an old building. Then the commentator raves about it!! How much did they pay him? The architect should be shot too.

The second floor extension is not very appropriate in my opinion. I would prefer a darker use of colour for the first floor and more natural-friendly material for the interior. The view of the site though, is gorgeous.

Damn right! I agree with other comments... It looks fine until you can see where they've built their extension. It's outrageous, like drawing a beard on the Mona Lisa! This verruga did not improve the value on their property ! It probably lost thousands of pounds since they built this horror. What idiot in the Council granted them permission to build such a toilet?

That bit that's just tacked on is the wrong colour, that's the only bit I really dislike. I take it they're just investing in this thing as it's no family home.

i don't like the modern extension, too cliche and generally not that amazing. However the folly is the truly beautiful part of the building. especially the movie room.

It`s not that well "glued" to the castle, at least they should have chosen a darker color, I still don`t agree with this solution, but hey, that`s me.

I'd love a Folly, castle if it took me 3hrs to get to work in the morning returning home to my castle would be worth it!(even a ruined one I could restore) But it's not they type of property you can pop down to your local foxtons for.

I love the programme,But i love it even more when some snooty office type who think's that they can manage the project because they do million pound deals on the other side of the world before they have breakfast,Then it all goes to rat shit.I have been in construction for over thirty years and believe me it is a difficult job from project manager to labourer,It is not something that can be learned overnight.

love this house for the simple fact that they have indulged on what they like but also respected the folly itself on the inside and out,

i agree about the sudden junction of old and new on the outside, but i think they will eventually tone it down with some natural looking paint,
