leadbelly is byfar one of the greatest of all time. if you are not fimiliar with his work, check it out its the deffintion of blues/folk/rock and roll and muisic in general I've been a life long nirvana fan and have just discoverd why he was Kurts Cobains (quote)"favorite proformer"
the song actually wasnt made by ledbelly wither..that song had been covered byy lots of artist over the years...it was played way before ledbelly recorded it in the early 1940's
I thought the eye thing at 4:11 was a tad bit cheesy, BUT muiscally I think you played it awesome and your voice did it justice, nothing bad musically, just the eye thing seemed a little corny. Great cover man keep playing!
I think if you just play the song instead of playing for You-tube, it would sound alot better.. You just seem like your over performing.. IE the eye look..
I heard this song the other day and decided I had to learn it. I feel bad that I didn't hear your version until now. Anyway, excellent job bro! The playing style, the vocals. Dead on. The screaming at the end gave me chills. I like the eye thing - right where it belongs. I wish I could scream like that.
I'm impressed. This wasn't half-bad. One thing, though, it's not actually a Leadbelly song, even if Kurt Cobain accredits the song to him at the MTV Unplugged show. First known recording of it is since 1909 and it likely dates back to the 1870's. Just thought you might like to know. And again, good job.
Holy S........ That was great man!!!!!! Excelent cover!!!!... nice voice, you shoud think about having a band.... if you have one send me the link to see it!!!!!!
Actually, the song itself dates to at least 1888 which predates Louvin brothers by almost 40 years. Like most blues it is much older than when it was origionally recorded.
un po' piacione ma bella voce, è vero. Poi magari quando si fa una cover a me piace sempre più se la si stravolge, e si aggiunge qualcosa rispetto all'originale... ma va bene lo stesso :)
Not a Leadbelly song. "In the Pines, also known as "Black Girl" and "Where Did You Sleep Last Night?", is a traditional American folk song which dates back to at least the 1870s, and is believed to be Southern Appalachian in origin. The identity of the song's author is unknown, but it has been recorded by dozens of artists in numerous genres."
very heart felt ,tho not as good as the original because altho it was very heart felt it was also a little bit too aggrasive in my personal opinion ;;;;;;;;;;;was good tho 5*'s thumbs up bruv
You nailed it mate, rythm, strumming pattern, the percussive bass note on the intro, the emphasis on the root notes, and the vocal !! Awsomwe 10 out of 10 for playing and absolutely 10 out of 10 for the vocal..... great job !!
WOW!!!!! that was one kick ass cover, I've been sitting here listening to some of your covers and am very impressed especially with this one, I'm sure Kurt would be a proud man if he could hear this.

except that Leadbelly recorded his versions 12 years prior to the Louvin Brothers...
The first recorded version is "The Rolling Mill Blues" by Peg Leg Howell in 1940.
Leadbelly recorded his version in 1944.
The Song itself though dates back far earlier, and exact authorship is unknown.
