Les probably is th best bassist ever, but he never really was very innovative. There are the greats like Enwistle who were never as fast or loud as les, but they pushed rock so far, so next time you are arguing about two bassist, take that into consideration

Actually I believe that was a one off bass that was custom made by a random luthier who only made one of a kind basses. That one had a tremolo system and I believe was a 39 inch scale which is quite irregular for a bass guitar considering it's a super long scale, but the sustain must be amazing on that thing.

Some people dont know this solo is based off a riff that he stole from Pleasure, the song is called "Glide" and many slap bassists steal this riff. So yeah search Pleasure Glide and youll hear the original. Some folks think Les invented slap but really Larry Graham and Stanley did, us white folk just are better at being wierd with it.
