Hvil i fred Robert, Tom, Leonard og sist men ikke minst Berserk... Hele greia er egentlig bare jævli trist.. Håper Jarle får seile i fred nå, og finne svar han trenger for å få ro i sjela.. stå på Jarle!
thats what happens when you sail to the ross sea with a yacht buit for cruising the carribeans, people think just because you've got a steal hull that you are covered. They boat didn't have watertight bulkheads!
@LaMouleQuiCoule well, it never had anything to do with the hull, They left a safe ancorplace in the middle of a 100year storm, question is, why they left the safe place??
It has nada to do if it was a steel hull or fiberglass hull. get yer story straigt before you comment!
@Lyle667 'it never had anything to do with the hull' 'they left a safe anchor place' Pleease, if you knew anything about the Ross Sea you would know that there is no such thing as a safe anchoring place there, this ain't the peninsula my friend
@LaMouleQuiCoule First of all, have some respect for those who are missing.
Secondly, these were more than capable sailors. probably way more than you. this boat qonquered the northwest passage with a captain who has sailed through Congo, through Russia, antartica once before and sailed from norway to cape horn alone at age 19. all with a 27 foot Albin Vega(!). He is also an ex navy diver. they knew the risks so dont try to tell these guys about watertight bulkheads.
@h3lv3te well well well why would you think I am disrespectful to them, just because I express my opinion?
Regardless how many exotic place they might have traveled before it doesnt change anything to the fact that they were ill equiped for going in the Ross Sea. Not only they didnt have bulkhead (which by the way might have made the difference between life and death) they did not have a enclosed pilothouse.
@h3lv3te An who in the hell tries to go to the south pole from the ross sea in february with atvs??? This is beyond silly. Ironiclly it might have saved the two other guys by forcing them back when they heard about the sinking.
I invite you to take some time and look at boats equiped to go to the Ross sea (if there is such a thing) Look up Jerome Poncet and his boat and Skip Novaks boats and they you will understand my friend
@LaMouleQuiCoule the reason i listed their previous merits was not to name drop exotic places. it was to clarify their experience when it comes to sailing in extremely demanding conditions. you just dont get it. going to the south pole in 1911 was also "beyond silly". its obvious you dont got your facts straight about the story. and its obvious you dont know anyting about what it takes to pull of such an expedition.
@LaMouleQuiCoule and being disrespectful and following it up by saying "im just expressing my opinion" doesent make it any less disrespectful. wether you realize it or not. good bye

@LaMouleQuiCoule They new they took a risk, as they new when they sailed it to the north pole. That was kinda the whole point behind it.
tordengud 1 month ago
@tordengud, they did never sail to the north pole, they where sailing to antarctica in memory of Roald Amundsen, a Norwegian adventurer!
