The cause of my crash has now been determined. The stock speed regulator (whatever it's called in english) failed, and so the reciever and servos went dead. This happened in a dive over some very tall trees. The front section of the fuselage with the battery broke off from the wing in the crash and was found on the ground. A few kids in the RC club threw rocks at the remains of the model in the trees until it fell down. Well, at least good to know I didn't cause the crash.
I'm almost finished building mine, just the decals and rudder linkage to be finished, and already thinking... I might need another one of these kits...
Will fly this one first though and learn it, see if I'll want to put a better engine and fan setup into the next.
@33vortex In case you did not know, you can get just the airframe and spare parts from Kessock Models. About £50 for all the foam parts if not less from memory.
@ditchit Got all of 4 flights out of mine LOL Flew it into a tree the other day, completely wrecked the airframe beyond repair and the forward fuselage (with the battery) broke off from the wing and fell to the ground. The wing, with reciever and servos, got stuck in the tree about 60' up. I was lucky there were some kids around they threw rocks at it until it fell down lol.
It's not my first crash, was very active in RC about 15 years ago it doesn't bother me. Got a new squall already lol. :)
that happend to me!! vected thrust on a slightly foggy day so flying slightly lower and i over corrected and it more or less hit the ground flat.broke exactly the same way!!!! but sadly i dont think it will glue because there loads of little pieces missing from the airduct
@minameisjake it was my maiden!!! my friend jeff had taken her up and trimmed her and then i had a go i was on the last turn of my circuit and boom :(
Very cool thrust vecoring mechanism! It looked to me like the battery may have shifted back when the plane was launched causing an aft cg problem. It was definitely flying like it was tail heavy. Glad to hear it's been repaired. Strap that battery in tight.
Yeah, you could be right. Although the TV system is good it's very hard not to crash because you inevitably always fall out of a slow move and loose a lot of height. Practice! Practice!

Depends on the battery obviously but yes there is quite a bit of room. I flew it tail heavy because I was using the vectored thrust system.

is there room to move the battery in the compartment because that looked very tail heavy

There are very little other things in life that give you such a horrible feeling when you crash :(

I've crashed so many times I'm used to it. Repaired and flies great now. Maybe video tomorrow if I can get out of my road for all the snow.
