  • Ciao, Karen R.I.P.

  • How sad that Karen's life could not be the same as these lyrics of this joyful happy song she sang as a teen.

"Love, don't be afraid to love and get love returned...

That love is a groovy thing

It knows how to make you sing

And it fills up your life with sunshine and joy

Don't be afraid to give all you've got to give

One of these days you'll find that's the way to live

And living is what we all were put on this earth to do

So come on and live and be happy

    Don't be afraid to love."

  • Karen and Richard, The Carpenters ... Unforgettable! These two brothers of my teenage years filled with much happiness your songs! Karen, get around this star-filled sky where you sing now, a big kiss and thanks for brighten my life with your songs! Love you, Carpenters!

    Cícero (from Aracaju-BRASIL)

  • Reminds me of Bacharach and 1967 to 1971 Beach Boys. A very warm and charming tune.

  • This is the song that sold Herb Albert on the Carpenters!

  • I love it :) This song became the Carpenters' stepping stone to the industry... no wonder! It's lovely :)

  • Karen is still giving us "sunshine and joy," with her lovely voice and angelic charm, to this day. Thank you, Downey, CA.

  • A one in a million voice!!!!

  • She was the best God bless you Karen

  • I couldn't believe she dies of anorexia... I thought only people of this last decades did (dying of anorexia). She had an amazing voice and their music is a peaceful trip. The Carpenters are one of my favourite groups ever. RIP (though you're doing for so long)

  • I frequently post comments about artists that I've heard about and want to check out,

and artists who I kinda like, but they have aspects that are fair game for criticism.

People get all bent and say, "Why do you come to this site and be negative?" Well, I'm "commenting;" I thought that's what you're supposed to do. Karen is irreproachable.

  • TTR mean so much to me...

I say again: The best of them!!! =)

    Regards...

Karen Spirit The umtilate KC`s tribute

  • Oh hell, I played all my Carpenters albums until they were gray. LOL I need to replace them all on CD.

  • haha no one shouldn't NOT listen to the Carpenters! I'm 24 as well :)

  • "Sunshine and, sunshine and Joyyy-yy." My thoughts exactly. This song was playing repeatedly in my car during a very rough period for me recently. It helped me tune out the darkness and just live again.

  • One of my most favorite songs by Karen! It has such a joyful feel to it. Thank you for posting!

  • A great example of Richard's arranging creativity. The harmony is excellent but that is probably easy with a great song like this.

  • that was really beautiful...we do miss her so much and her memory lives on...thank you

  • Love, don't be afraid to love and get love returned

Don't be afraid to tell everyone you're learned

  • this sounds way better than the demo version, this was on the ticket to ride album right?

    this vid was great!

  • This was one of the songs that was on the demo that Herp Alpert of A & M Records listened to that helped "discover" the Carpenters in 1969. It's a really great song and Karen's vocal on this one must have impressed Herbie quite a bit.

  • I've never heard this song in its entirety. It's such a happy song with a great melody. Thank you!

  • I remember this video. Love it.

  • You're welcome! I'm glad that you enjoyed it again! :D
