  • South West has a fat policy but they don't have a Leprosy policy. I guess fat is the new Leprosy.

  • 0:46 SHEKKY!!!

  • Comment removed

  • I think from watching this that he feels like he's to fat to fly on south west air lines. . . But I'm not 100% sure.

  • Kev looks really run down in this video, i don't think he took this as well as he made out he did. I think this really affected him in a big way, more than hes letting on...he looks drained and low on energy...i really feel for him in this shitty situation...

  • We just did a show about this issue and mention Mr. Smith so I thought I would link to it. Sorry if this is considered spam please disregard but here is the link blip.tv/file/4609444

  • well it s simple to me

if u do want to help your fat buddy s ????do u ?????

u need to do wot we all no your one of if not the best at...put it on the big screen and let sum thing good cum out of the plane miss-hap in comedy there is no ta-bo that cant b said not one and if not cuz of helping your fellow man do it because of all of your people that wood love to b able to and cuz we all no if any one can its you man

  • I gotta be honest: I would HATE to be crammed into an airline seat next to someone that big! I don't give a hoot if the belt closes and the arms go down or not. The claustrophobia factor alone freaks me out. If this weren't something we all dread, the Seinfeld episode wouldn't have been half as funny as it was.

The Kevin Smith incident simply increases the likelihood I'll book with Southwest the next time I fly. Thank goodness the staff is sensitive to this potential travel nightmare.

  • In Spain, where I do live and travel a lot, ALL COMPANIES have tinny coach seats.

For me, that have gained a lot of weight in the last 10 years as I approach 40, seats feel more and more uncomfortable.

Sure I should loose weight for my own good, but that doesn't allow companies to get greedy and choose the smallest seat allows by law (if that law actually exists).

If fact there is a proposal to use stand-up flights with weird back-resting chairs...

    No more words needed.

  • I just went through the hole 24 part thing.

I can't understand why the law doesn't protect citizens from this kind of abuse. Travel fairs should go per person, per HUMAN BEING, not based on size! It should be against the law to make seats so small that doesn't feel comfortable for 2 3rds of the US population.

I must say anyway Kevin that you are still lucky in the US. I'm been there and it's true that seats are quite big, even in coach, mostly with all airlines. (continues 1/2)

  • 24 video. he is tripping like crazy.

  • @frantahouska Broken language. That really is sad.

  • Kevin, two 10 minute videos are better than 2:00 24 parts....wtf man...

  • 24 parts? Good thing you covered the topic this thoroughly. It's up there with economics and health care for the most important and pressing topics facing America today.

  • well...you can always try losing some weight before you go on a plane next time...maybe. it might be easier than rallying everyone to go against southwest. and healthier. jus sayin.

  • Here, I'm going to give some advise back to you that you gave to me growing up.

    Fuck those fucking fuckers.

  • Kevin Smith doesn't care about thin people!

Nostradamus wrote the screen play for WALL-E,

2012 is not the year the world will end-Its the Ideal body weight of the future!

Just bull shitting, I am a thin, yet huge fan of Kevin Smith,

    I love you Lunch Box!!!

  • IT sucks how hard it is to find anything that isn't about southwestern when you search for Kevin Smith now, I like the Smod and the movies; don't care bout personal life (unless it has been SMod'd) but this tabloid BS is dumb. He's right to be pissed: next!

  • Really wish he didn't start smoking weed. He's really lost some of his quick wit, he just looks so much more depressed than he used to be, and of course Marijuana is proven to cause depression.

  • oops, think tank, you know what I ment...

  • Wow man, cool to think you might read all these replies. You know..This to shall pass man ! Take this time to think....think... and RECREATE >a new character or a thing. There are people that love your acting. Take all this as a time to fade out do some think take time find a new angle and we all await your new thing!

  • Fuk Southwest, i fly virgin anyway...

  • Sw's new slogan=

    Thin wallet?Thin waistline?Thin prices!Fly thin,fly southwest=)

When Obama's victory news made headlines in 2008, Illinois' Lottery drew 666 and shared Obama's front page

    So Obama was destroyed

    Why ?

Because the whole religious groups automatically saw Obama as the Antichrist

Our mission as messengers of Truth and of the Apocalypse is to reveal this simply: the 666 revelation destroyed Obama

The Lottery's 666 is money/the Mark of the Beast of Obama's his money

Sentence him to death for forging his birth ID so thus accessing Army nukes by fraud

  • "Good lord, people. I know there's incredulity out there, but come on." Good man, Kevin.

  • Dont be a DICK,.....No one gives a shit what you think MENSO ;)~

  • I have enjoyed your movies for years but had never seen you in person and knew nothing about you before tonight. You express yourself beautifully, hysterically and expressively. I have so much empathy for the humiliating experience you just went through. It took a lot of courage to go public with your pain but I'm glad you did. You stood up for yourself and didn't allow the corporation to continue lying. I am going to contact Southwest Airlines as I hate discrimination. Peace, denise

  • And this bothers you why? oh" your a dumb ass...I got it...

  • WOW, I can't believe how many idiots are out there! You are the best and what you went through is ridiculous! Major kudos for standing up to Southwest! Please remember that the majority of youtube users haven't reached 30 yet hence their metabolism has not yet seen the days of a few drunkin nights physically showing itself. I was 130 all through highschool and college...now that i'm 32 things have changed. I sleep well knowing that (as you said) 2/3 of these comments will be over 200 soon!

  • @Hunkola Kevin can and will loose weight. He'll also f^ck his hot wife, raise a cute daughter and continue to make lots of money making funny movies.

Meanwhile you'll still be flippin' burgers and posting heated diatribes on the 'net to try to make your pathetic little existence seem less so.

    Score one for the fatty!

  • You have a lot of fans like me who don't just respect you as a director/writer/actor but also as a guy who has stayed down to earth regardless of how much money or fame you have acquired over the years.

All this shit will die down soon enough and then some other poor fucker who dared to make a success of themselves will be getting torn to shreds for the brainwashed masses daily entertainment.

Fucking tossers the lot of them.

  • Anyway, if you're reading the comments here best of luck with the opening for Cop Out and please don't let the media vultures and internet trolls get you down man.

Some people love nothing more then to toss all of their own insecurities towards whichever celebrity is in the spotlight for a couple of minutes, sadly its happened over here in England since newspapers first went into print and will no doubt continue until the end of time.

  • Im sure all of this wasn't a very nice experience for you Kevin but i think its really cool how you have taken all of this negative energy and turned it into something positive as far as raising peoples awareness of the sometimes cruel way airline staff are treating customers due to their size.

Couldn't quite believe it the first time i heard this story as you have never seemed anything more then chubby to my eyes, certainly not worthy of becoming the poster child for overweight travelers, haha

  • You ought to do a Virgin spot.

  • hi Kevin, first i do not like your movies but now im going to buy them all, now i'm understand you're a big man with a big heart, be strong and remember the world cheering to acts and not to thoughts, you do it very well my friend.

    good luck

    Assi Levi

  • All the way from Amsterdam, i just had to drop a line..

Kev, you've got my and a lot of other peoples' support on this. You have no reason to feel sorry, other then the fact that there are a lot of sorry individuals out there who can't even spell IQ. Anyway lots of love to you and yours. Don't ever change sir!

    E.

  • There is always going to be haters out there no matter what the subject, one of the 'glorys' of communicating on the net but there are also people like me who enjoy your work and will continue to listen/watch/read!!

Chin(or chins lol) up as my fellow british would say!

    much love

    Stefan

  • I dont know what happened between f**k southwest smod and these videos, but why are you apologizing??

I know you just want to end this hoo ha over who was blame but I think the seat size thing is bullshit, you dont need to lose weight to conform, only lose weight if you feel like it.

  • @GoSuckABagOfDicks you should read your name and follow your own advice shut the fuck up man, seriously, form your comment i can tell that you are some gay asshole sitting at your computer with issues and thats why you would make such a fucked up comment...asshole.

  • Yeah and people with a drinking problem should just stop with the booze! Brilliant! You may have solved all the world's problems with this amazing philosophy! Kudos to you sir!

  • Hey @GoSuckABagOfDicks Yes, Kevin Smith can lose some weight. Then he'll be thinner But guess what? You'll still be a fucking dumbshit. No amount of pushups will ever change that.

If you payed attention for one second to this entire story, Kevin has never denied he packs extra weight. He just insists that based on Southwest's own rules at the time, he was not "too fat to fly". Which was true; he passed all the Southwest-imposed "tests". But arguing with a moron like you rarely gets results.

  • The flight Kevin took is $316 round trip, and that's just a 1 hour flight That is half my paycheck (before tax). Not everyone can afford to buy 2 seats. In fact most people can't.

  • I'm slightly disapointed your pad doesn't look like your character's in Die Hard 4 :)

  • I just watched all parts of this pod cast,

I'm not a "skinny" and defiantly agree with everything your saying, I don't think your to fat to fly I think they made a terrible call, and I'm glad your fighting back with your knowledge so hopefully if I do get bigger in the future I won't have to worry about being "to fat to fly".

I've always been a fan, and always watched your Smod cast's. Would love to hear back from you. Don't let Southwest get out of this without making it right!

  • this is what happens when a person who does not know the extent of his influence dicks around with the retarded mass; the shit hits the fan for no fucking reason.

  • It's really more a story about a big corporation screwing over its customers with poor customer service which even SWA is admitting at this point but whatever.

If it were that easy nobody would be fat douchebag.

  • Comment removed

  • The employee got confused that you originally wanted 2 seats, and then you had that little spat with the "revenue" dude.. I think that's when they decided to pull you.. Clearly you were not too fat, judging by the arm rests and the other fatter guy you made eye contact with.. so bottom line, the employees screwed up and should be fired to make an example of what would happen if you so arbitrarily yank someone off a plane like that.

  • I'm a huge fan I seen you in person few moths ago at show in NJ. And agree you are a chubby bastard but not that fat! I have seen alot bigger fly coach. After listening to the smdcst and this I agree SW did a bad job But in their deffense the fact that you had 2 tickets is what set the alarm off. If you had only 1 seat you would not have had a problem i am sure they assumed the tickets was for your size not privacy because 99.9% of people would not spend the extra cash for a little privacy.

  • FACT: there are no skinny teddy bears.

Deep down people want something squishy to cuddle up with!

    :)

  • When I heard this happened to you. I was saying to myself. I am royally screwed. I'm a fatty myself and I am a big man and was a big man pretty much most of my life. What I found out is that most of these fat hating pricks are generally young kids who are still too young to the realities of the world. Therefore it's easy to spew crap at people to makes themselves feel big no puns intended.

  • You dont look that fat, im surprised there is such a low benchmark to be shuffled out of your seat.

  • Are you ppl kidding me....lose some weight....we have a problem in this nation, and you know what it is completely your right to be as heavy as you want, but it's also southwest's right to deny you a seat if you are making it uncomfortable for the other passengers. Get over it. Next time fly first class since you can clearly afford it.

  • Comment removed

  • The point was that the dude wasn't making the people sitting next to him uncomfortable but got tossed off anyway.

But since you mentioned it, I have to say that I can't imagine that the discomfort of having to sit next to a really big person for an hour flight can compare to the level of emotional pain and embarrassment felt by somebody being ejected off a plane that way. People who are obese have an eating disorder and should be treated with the same compassion as someone who is anorexic.

  • Yes I'm sure that would hurt, but I am sure they tried to handle it quietly and offered him some form of compensation. Knowing Kevin Smith he probably started making some smart ass remarks making the ppl on the plane uncomfortable and so they threw his ass off. I just refuse to believe it was for absolutely no reason. If it were, they would have thrown the other fat guy off that kevin mentioned in his tweet. This is a business they are running, it's not a god given right to fly.

  • And please don't go making this an issue about it being a disease to be fat. The world today makes every flippin issue a disease so it takes all the responsibility off the person. Yes some ppl have issues, and sometimes it does have to do with a chemical imbalance or your genes, but as far as I know Kevin Smith has never said he has a disease, merely that he loves food.

  • Kevin, you rock. I'm so sorry you've had to go through this sh$t, but I think you're handling it in a remarkably standup fashion. Thank you taking the time to create these videos -- I really appreciate your incisive, intelligent, and amusing take on things. I kinda wish I could give you a hug.

    Southwest can suck it.

  • OMG Kevin, this shouldnt have happened to you i am so mad at SouthWest i will never fly with them, i am an overweight person as well- you are just awesome for speaking out hopefully Southwest gives you the apology you deserve and now maybe because you spoke out they will change things i hope so much love to you you rock

  • Kev, you prove once again why your fans love you so. You keep it real. Even through this whole explanation you were still bringing the funny while talking about the darker side of Corporate America. I have to fly Southwest in April (my mom's leftover mileage was the only way I could get to my brother's wedding) and I will be wearing some kind of Kevin Smith shirt on my expanse when I do. Southwest can eat me.

  • You are too cool. We love you because of your wit and your humor and your insights and your excellent turn of phrase. Thank you for standing up to them and for not allowing them to steamroll you.

Our hearts are with you! My family and I will never fly SW again.

  • Speaking as a heavy guy, I understand completely how uncomfortable it can be on an aircraft, particularly when stuck in the middle or window seats(I tend to stick to the aisle). I'm shocked by the treatment you received at the hands of Southwest and hope against hope that they'll amend their stance on the matter. Don't let this get you down sir, you've taken a nasty situation and (after the initial heated feelings) have dealt with it with class. All the best.

  • Sorry you've had to go through this, Kevin, but I think you're handling the whole thing really well. Shitty that they've done this with you, but it looks like you're coming out on top. Their loss for losing your business. Keep it up though, mad respect for you throughout all of this.

    -Ness

  • Thanks Kevin.

Kind of felt like a more serious solo SModcast.

My heart goes out to you, coming from a family of big people.

I hate that society can be so cruel.

Thanks for all that you do. (even Jersey Girl)

  • Kev, great job of keeping it honest, and some what classy! (except for the nose picking part) Glad to see some one get called on their bulls__t. I can understand why you didn't do Larry King etc, but wish you would have.

  • Mad props to Kev. It was a shame you had to go through this, no one understands being fat unless they are or have been at one point in their life.

  • A&E had a reality show called "Airline" and wouldn't you know it - it followed Southwest. They made the customers look like hateful trolls, and the "hard-working" staff look like gods. I'm pretty sure one episode does feature a "person of size" story.

  • Thank you Kevin for doing this. I know it was difficult for you to go through it all. Props to Natali for being so upbeat after the beating Southwest gave her. You guys rock! I will NEVER fly Southwest the bigots of the sky~

  • Also props to Natali for speaking up. That took guts.

  • Ok, wanna do this at your place or mine?

  • I think what Kevin's doing is completely honorable. The major point here is that Southwest made a mistake by their own written standards and then DID NOT TAKE ANY RESPONSIBILITY for that mistake. He is speaking out for all the people who have been in this type of situation. He gave them a chance to apologize. I am glad corporations are now subject to repercussions for unfair actions because of public forums like Twitter. Thank god he is a public figure to make the case for others who arent.

  • @JanineChaosPix i barely know what happen, all i remember is that he got kicked off if a plane for being too big for the seats or somethin but hes making it seem like it was some big dramatic event.

  • Man I want rate the his video for being awesome but it's at 37 and I can't mess that up.

  • I'm kinda hoping this series will get other people to avoid SWA, not just the "customers of size" as they put it. If an airline is willing to lie to one person about who booted him off the flight, they're probably willing to lie to others about damn near anything. Thanks, Kevin, for opening my eyes to this problem. SWA is never getting my business, no matter what.

  • Kevin, you have nothing to be ashamed of. These media scumbags will kick you when your down and be stuck so far up your arse when things are going well they'll be able to wipe your mouth with their hand. All your fans think your a legend, and you always will be - Screw what everyone else thinks, just focus on the people that actually care about you.

All the way from wet UK :D

  • off the topic. I don't know if you noticed but take a look at the views of each video as you go along the number is deteriorating. I really think you should have narrowed it down to 2-4 videos even long ones couse as you can see the whole message is not coming through like this.

Still I think you're right although I'm only 70Kg and can fit in a plane sit.

  • This has me terrified. I am flying overseas in three months and now somehow I have to go about putting my 240 pound ass on a plane. I can't afford a last minute seat price on an over seas flight. I know I can put the arm rests down and buckle the belt without an extender. Apparently that's not good enough anymore. WTH do we do?

  • I'm sure you'll be fine. It all depends what airline you're flying with. I'm 200lbs and my husband is a very large man - we fly a lot and we've never encountered a single problem. Even when he travels alone, he's never been asked to purchase a second seat or been ejected from a plane.

I think a lot of these weight rules on airlines are just America's way of scaring you into loosing weight.

  • Kevin, I just want to say Thank You for speaking up for the "fatties." I'm nearly 200, hubby is near 300, and every time we fly, I get jittery, wondering if someone is going to boot us off (Especially now that we have a kid.) We haven't flown SW for a little while now (other issues) but this just puts it in stone for us. So thank you for bringing this to light, and letting other people know what kind of Airline SW really is. My heart goes out to you and yours. *huge hugs*

  • sorry for the removed comment my computer is effin' up lately.

  • if i can create a religion kevin smith would be god and his desiples would be mews, jen, mosier, malcom, ming, lee, vince, david, brian, walt, ben, jeff, o'halleran, and harley would be baby eternity. I wish i could meet you man just once and it would make my lifetime. I cant wait for COP OUT although i peferred the orginal title. You are seriously the reason why i got into writing my own movies even though they might never ever get made. Fuck SW fuck them up there stupid asses. Smith bless!

  • I hang out with heavy set guys who are my hieght but much wider where you can see that past a coat. but if someone says they have to get off the plane for something like that im getting off too. but i do have to say that kevin is such a great guy cause he can be steaming mad at a situation and later on finds a way to apologize for something that really isnt his fault for being who he is.

  • I cant believe these fucktards is gonna do that. I weigh on average 220 to 225 and im not wide but my body is not a supposed healthy one. I work out like never cause i never find time to work out. Im not very cut either my arms are skinny cause my muscles dont inflate when i flex but if i weigh that much and i get on a SW airline and see me are they gonna throw me off. If i can get the arm rest down and the belt around my gut and they still find me a safety risk well then they are truly retards.

  • In Cartmans words "I'm not fat ... I'm big boned!!

I for one am "Fat" and am appauled (sp?) at what Southwest Airlines has done.... Fuck SWA ...... Kevin Smith FTW!!

Bravo Kevin Smith for having the courage to bring this to the forefront......

  • Keven I know that you got screwed on this bullshit. I just hope SW and everyone learns from this experience.

    Good luck, and peace Keven.

  • Been following the story, and hope you get past it, and the person of size policy changes so it doesn't affect any more people like you and Natali.

Wish you the best of luck with Cop Out next week Sir.

  • Well if it helps I believed you. And the Southwest situation got sooo big that Southwest well not let it fly on it's plane.
