Just because people dont buy hybrid cars doesnt mean that they shouldnt buy hybrid cars.. Hybrid cars are more expensive than normal cars, and arent always better on the environment, but Glenn is just using stupid logic

In a free country people should be free to buy whatever car they want. Yes, there are "third party effects" (also called neighborhood effects...i.e. pollution). The proper way to deal with that is a yearly state (not federal) excise tax (only on vehicle that are actually driven...not just "owned".

Mark Levin made an interesting point in his book that highway deaths have gone up because the cars are getting smaller and wieghing less. The steel is just not as strong as it used to be because the cars are lighter for fuel efficiency. Pick Up Truck V.S. Smart Car. Who do you think is gonna win?

im a liberal and I dont agree with most hybrids other than the smart (and even that has a few problems) but the pruis is an absolute pos it produces more carbon to make than you could possibly save. but Honda did recently come out with a hydrogen powered car that is avilable in california if it succesful it could probably save the energy cries for good.

Hybrids are way to complex. You have a regular gas powered car plus an extra gear box, batteries, electric motor, and far more complex electronics. What do you get for all that? A few extra MPG. I sure don't want to maintain what is esentially 2 powertrains. Hybrids are a fail ! If you care about MPG, look at a little diesel. Fewer parts than even a gas car and they last a long time. My understanding is in real life driving they get better mileage than a hybrid and they cost less.

Yeah like the VW Jetta. Old fashioned diesels are pretty reliable so i imagine the next generation stuff like the Jetta will be just as good, and it pretty much matches the Prius.
