@ricey23 What do you do in LA thats so fun cuz I live 30 miles away from LA and there has not been a place I enjoyed with the acception of the farmer's market but really I dont see the attraction.
hey bud i have a question. i am going to L.A. in two weeks so can you tell me if you actually have to go over the pacific ocean when you are going there from chicago? how about coming back from L.A. to chicago? thanks
@BullsFan23331 It's usually a straight in approach. Though sometimes if you fly a visiual approach you might get lucky and end up over the Pacific and then turn downwind over Venice. But it's usually straight over the city.
@BullsFan23331 I just got back from LA and landed in Atlanta. Going in, you could right over the city. When leaving you do a hard bank across the Pacific. You see Santa Monica some, a lot Long beach, the LA Port Manhattan, all the beach cities, Orange county, etc. It's pretty spectaular.
hi. im planning on going to la next summer and im terrified of flying (i only did it once) and i was wondering what is the best airline is it virgin, american airlines or any other|? btw this landing was a breeze...
@shinesthrudarain I go to that In-n-out and sit on the roof of the parking structure right next door with my radio scanner and watch planes landing all day. such a great setup
Congratulations!!! You have just been sold to virgin! The brand name is powerful but dont be fooled by the fact that its not the greatest airline out there. If they are so good then why do the cabin crew only stay 6 months and leave? Theyve just made a load of people redundant......great airline my backside..!
You dont need any T/R's to stop a 747 on landing. The brakes being carbon can easiy stop a 747, the hottter they get the more effecient they become. Virgin also taxi on 3 engines to save fuel and drivers are told to use the brakes hard to increase the life.
Cant believe ive got voted down by 5, im an engineer not a flightsim driver wannabe.
@thefsxandREALpilot Its a piss take isnt it? Everyone seems to think that pilots are some kind of amazing mythical creature, when i fact they are normal people like you and me!
@Sterlingjob intresting, i never knew this i just thought they used the brakes but slightly with reverse thrust and the spoilers, dont they taxi on engine 2 and 3? just to stop the yaw effect?
@houshidar558 They shut down number 3 engine on taxi just to save fuel. This engine is shut down as i guess its the least important one of the four! The other 3 drive critical systems like brakes and steering im guessing!
if you have been there as many times as me you would notice all the broken and outdated termnials and places at LAX, dont get me wrong, its a great place but needs alot of renovation.
Yeah, the 777 is the second best plane nowadays, far behind the A380. Actually I was comparing the A340 with the old fashioned 747s. A340 is cheaper, more modern/advanced and more economic than the 747s.
The reverser was probably locked out thats why it didnt translate. On landing all t/r's are put into reverse idle, the brakes do all the braking. The harder you brake the longer the brakes will last. On taxi engine 3 is shut down for fuel saving purposes.
Probably a problem with the reverser so they lock it out. Sometimes in flight you get a light on saying reverser unlocked, which is what u really dont want to happen!!

why do they only use one reverser per wing on the 744
planexprt 3 years ago
that probably depends on the length of the runway....
if the runway is long... only one per win will be used
but when short...all will be used...
Erik0219 3 years ago
The reverser was probably locked out thats why it didnt translate. On landing all t/r's are put into reverse idle, the brakes do all the braking. The harder you brake the longer the brakes will last. On taxi engine 3 is shut down for fuel saving purposes.
Sterlingjob 2 years ago
only 3, or 2 and 3 i would think so u dont sway around with the un eaqual thrust
TDJP123 2 years ago
To be honest they usually just deploy the T/R's at idle and let the brakes slow the aircraft down!

they do?
