In reality, the Sands was a dump of a hotel ( at least it was in 2004 when I was there last ) The Sands had become a victim of being stuck in the past as being outdated and obsolete. A lot of things were wrong when I went there, too many to name. Good riddance!
One of the most beautiful little hotels I've ever been in! The gambling was fun....but the ATMOSPHERE was friendly and happy! WHY did it have to be destroyed? A minor tragedy, as far as I'm concerned! Thanks for the video -- it IS valuable! Wish you had taped the restaurants....they were GEMS (sigh!0
The one time I was able to go to Atlantic City, it was The Sands that I went to, and had no idea that it had been demolished. It's sad, but made me smile since I lost all of a dollar while I was there. Didn't win a damn thing, but boy was I drunk in the process.
you should have interviewed the manager who owned that hotel. I was also sad that he closed down i saw couple weeks before closing my family and i always go to AC during summer vacation and christmas time. I will be strange not to see the sand's hotel anymore.
wow thanks for shareing.i was in atlantic city back in july 2007.wasn't at the sands.not sure if it was opened? i think i went there to try and eat or something.when it is close down? how long after you taped this did it close down? nice place too bad.
Thank you for sharing this video. I stayed there on comp with friends. It definately was beautiful! I uploaded my demolition video. The definately made sure she "went out in style".
I'm so glad someone thought to record this. I was so sad to hear about the Sands' demise. I go to AC every year, and I have to admit I hadn't stopped at Sands in awhile. But it used to be one I visited all the time. Now I wished I had visited one last time before it closed. I took several photos of it a few weeks after closing, and I visited again last month to take more. So sad to see them demolishing it. I really miss it now! Thank you for sharing this.
I was at the Sands in october with my boyfriend. We spended a week in Atlantic City. We had a great time and were sad when we heard that it was closing. It was a nice hotel!

@UTAOUB
it was getting old. it reaches a point that they cannot repair it anymore and the area doesnt receive much income anymore so they want to close it.
i have a feeling that tropicana might end up being like that too, soon.

I remember reading the "moving walkway" off the boardwalk as a kid. AC just isn't the same without The Sands anymore.

It was only 26 years old. Was it THAT obsolete already that it needed to be destroyed???

Last time I was there was April last year. I won a nice chunk of change, lit up a Cuban Cigar, and walked out forever! Adios Sands!

I can't wait to see the demolition show. It's supposed to be Vegas-like, with fireworks.
