I don't know why people gave you all these negative comments. Stratas interpretation of Salome is considered a benchmark. At least her acting that is. Vocally Stratas didn't have the powere to sing it on the stage. But what she did in the film was amazing.

um. are we listening to the same person? do you know who leonie rysanek is? stratas was always considered a great actress, but never a great singer. rysanek is both.
So stunning and beyond compare. Love how she maintained the warm timbre of her voice throughout, and did not become overly sharp in the higher passages like Nilsson did. I've been listening in the car to another Rysanek live performance of this and I cannot get over how great she is in this punishing role.
