She also wrote the lyrics she would sing, drawn from her own experience.

She wrote songs that girls can relate to.

Amy also had a great musicality that enabled her to adapt her influences into her unique delivery.

Billie Holliday, by comparison, couldn't carry a song in a bucket.

Without the support of the Basie band her deficiences were all too obvious. Exascerbated by her addictions
