I love this song. I have always enjoyed listening to the vocal versions (jazz or pop) but this is the first time I listen to an instrumental version. You play it really beautifully. Too bad I don't live close enough to see you play live. Do you perform outside your own county?

@charley388 Thank you :-) .. I do play outside of kent but solo gigs I do tend to be private events, weddings etc. I do more band stuff thesedays.

Billie Holliday sings an uptempo version - swing not samba as most uptempo versions are - and the intelligent construction of the song lends itself to all genuine interpretations: like yours!. Ive just worked out how to swing it on the guitar (chords) and sing it. How about "The Nearness of You"?

Hi Alan, thanks for listening! I have to confess I wasn't thinking jazz when I played this - the version I heard first was Peter Skellern's, who Anglicized it massively (brass band etc) - so that version for me is the template. Only later did I hear swing versions. As you point out, the skill of the composer here means it will lend itself to many different treatments.
