  • Investigation time!

  • Londo: "Mr. Garibaldi, I want to have a word with you."

  • Castlevania games are amazing as its VGM is.

  • I got an ad longer than the video >.<

  • Sounds like a "Lost Paintings" continuation.. from the Symphony of the Night

  • Excelent place for an excelent song, it deserves it.

  • This game isn´t the best of the franchise, but it has great melodies!

  • A lot of people seem to be talking about Call of Duty

  • @kricku lol your joking right? if not.... CoD = Curse of Darkness i.e this Castlevania game ;)

  • @xSayPleasex ofc i'm joking :)... a little

  • If one pay close attention in this music, will find that the phrases changes to "evil and good". It tells the player that "He didnt see nothing yet, more evil awaits you" and then it tells "Dont worry, everything is gonna be okay". This aparently "simple notes" song, by Yamane ,easy to play on piano, have a complex meaning that pull me in deeply madness.

  • CoD's OST is a tragedy. It's a masterpiece on a mediocre game.

  • who can blame the castlevania characters from alwys goin against dracula?

with music like this i would go against chuck norris himself!!!!(ok ok thas was maybe too much no one can do that...)

  • @brunuman I beg to differ. Trevor Belmont would whoop Chuck Norris's ass left and right =)

  • @DivineSniper54 Agree ;D

  • good song+good gameplay+good art=¡¿shit castlevania?!

  • Great song first time I've heard it! Has a simple but melodic beat.

  • I can't believe that I overlooked how good this music was when I was actually playing Curse of Darkness. That just how mediocre the gameplay was, I couldn't notice that it still had that trademark great music that Casltevania has always had

  • @85ihateposeurs don't hate on the gameplay, I loved this game. It was different from other castlevania games but it was addictive and super fun.

  • @LaMereACaniche Oh alright, to each their own I suppose. I actually like the the N64 catlevanias, and a lot of people would probably think I'm crazy for that. Curse of Darkness had some good things going for it(Innocent Devils, story based on Castlevania 3) But I didn't like all the fact there is no castle until liket the last hour of the game and the dull graphics also disappointed me because along with music Caslevania also used to be famous for producing some of the best graphics for its time

  • @85ihateposeurs well A LOT of people hate N64 castlevania games BUt I liked them, I don't know why they hated them that much. The innocent devil system is what kept me from getting bored from time to time. The music in castlevanias are usually good and this one isn't an exception!

  • one of the good "new" castlevania imo, I loved this game.

  • damn this is one hell of beat

  • holy shit this sounds like Make me bad by Korn. the rythym section

  • Hell yeah, is ranked 3! AHAHAHAHAHAAHAH!

  • @GuilhermeTNTBuble

    Theyre not ranked

  • Wow...What kind of game is this?

  • I loved this game and this is one of my favorite themes from the game.

  • You're right, Final Fantasy 7 and Castlevania are completely different, except for the fact that most of them are emo! XD

  • where can I get the mp3 for this? I don't see it on the Curse of Darkness Soundtrack

  • Who is the composer? I mean, this track remember me "Black Forest" form Suikoden, I like to know if is the same composer.

  • @TheAvengerBlade Michiru Yamane

  • @TheAvengerBlade Suiko was done by Miki Higashino this one is by Michiru Yamane

  • classic castlevania music

  • One of the most hauntingly beautiful themes I have ever heard from any source. Thanks for uploading.

  • can any1 agree with me that played CoD that corpsey was they best bitching innocent devil funny name cos they kill ther opponents

  • the soundtrack to CoD was great I thought the game itself was sweet would have liked to see a little more variety in the level designs...

  • I agree this game surpasses it's predecessor in my opinion. Love building your own weapons.

  • oh yeah you couldn't help but feel like a total badass with Death's Scythe and the fully evolved Devil ID.

  • @TrevorCBelmont the final rapier was a mean son-of-a-bitch too, hey, watch me pull 20 magic missles outa nowhere while my raven type burns you all to ashes.

  • @werewolfjedi38

I dont think I ever got the final rapier

  • @TrevorCBelmont oh yeah, it's final was a homing attack where he makes a seal in the air and them breaks it into pieces, which fly off and attack.

  • @TrevorCBelmont im relieved..... for a second i thought u meant Call of Duty :)

  • @TrevorCBelmont i thought you were abbreviating call of duty at first and them like oh ya curse of darkness. PHew i was about to say how does call of duty get a song a number 3 on a best vgm list.

  • @SlamTheLabel

    aw hell no! lol

  • @TrevorCBelmont ya i mean forreal.

  • i is in luv wif this music :D

still...nothing beats that sexy voice isaac has :3

    no one pwns better than the ppl who rite this music though :}

  • @MiyukiHitsune That's Michiru Yamane. The one who wrote the music.

  • Curse of Darkness had an AMAZING soundtrack.

  • Curse of Darkness HAS an amazing soundtrack...

  • Im not gonna lie. I think Konami holds onto the good music developers for their castlevania games. They have never dissapointed. spot on!

  • This is by far my favorite song out of all my Castlevania Soundtracks.

  • Dude, this is the first time I've listened to this song... and I have to say it doesn't get the attention it deserves =/ Seriously, this theme is amazing, and yet all the creators do is remix already known songs... which I'm not saying are bad, just that they need more creativity.

  • well, by creativity, i meant more originality.

  • I've never played a Castlevania game in my life, but I really like this song.

  • @VardrunCRidleyKnight

believe all us fans out there, your missing out BIG TIME.....however i personally didnt like CoD, but anyways just mpick up a game and play, i gurantee you will be hooked

  • I remember the first time playing in this level I was like: "I love it!"

  • All the songs sounds like remixes of other songs of castlevania. But still great ^^

Sorry for bad english blabla you know ;)

  • Castlevania games have always had amazing music... even the very first one has songs that sound great to this day. Epic track

  • i don't remember any of the other games, but dawn of sorrow has awesome music for sure.

  • makes me think of someone walking in a garden courtyard *looks at title*.....well duh!

  • Best theme from the track

  • Awesome :)

  • one of the best Castlevania themes I've heard lately... not a classic as Vampire Killer or Heart of Fire, but a marvelous piece... no doubt about it.

  • omg, i had headphones on and the beginning scared me...lol

  • OMG I FOUND YOU AGAIN!!!

  • oh yeah i remember this song mortivia fountain was a favorite also

  • se podira decir una de las mejores de la saga xD :D ^^!

  • so wanted to try this game out!!!

  • HANG ON!!!! Is this song played outta my headphone or what... oh, its just the music is surrounding my head. Surrounding music!! This tune is damn f***ing nice

  • Comment removed

  • very begining freaked me out... lol... thought it was something outside for a sec... headphones... right...

  • Nice tune. I was not crazy about this game but I still like it because its impossible for me to dislike a Castlevania.

  • this song is beautiful !!

  • people read the info before posting daft questions like what console is this for. READ

  • Lovely music, what's the game like?

    ;)

  • This song is fantastic, I should find this game.

  • what system is this on?

  • ps2

  • ps2 and xbox, xbox version has better graphics though.

  • graphics dont metter i mean matter

  • oh this one is good to listen when you r in a dungen

  • Didn't think something this epic exisred... I like dark, graveyard/castle themes like this... They define a dark purple...

  • you should add Lone Challenger - Order of Ecclesia

  • Garibaldi Temple should be here instead of that track =)

  • the temple music sucks

  • So, Castlevania is now making a fighting game (for Wii )...I wonder how it'll turn out? To be honest, it seems like a good move to me.

  • It's already out lol. It's been out for a while.

  • And it sucks the big one. So no, not a good move.

  • reminds me somehow of make me bad by korn starts off. never played this game is it good? it looks good. (found vid by looking up chrono trigger music and found the countdown)

  • Favorite part 0:08 thanks for uploading this song

  • is it true that this game is awful??

  • Is any Castlevania game awful to a true Castlevania fan?

  • a bad game is bad.

no matter how much Fanboy logic bending is used.

    this game is devent though.

  • Yes. A true Castlevania fan would be critical even of the games they so enjoy.

If they loved the games no matter what, the developers would stop bothering to put any effort into their games. That would be upsetting.

  • yeah that actually happened to final fantasy.the producers thought sth like:let´s just put some good lokking charas in it and now look at ff12

  • You may need to work on your English a little there, although you're not doing too badly if it's your second language.

I do agree that XII had too much tedious grind and a dull political plot. Kingdom Hearts games are still vastly enjoyable though.

  • are you referring to my typo(looking)?of course as a native speaker you´re used to different standards, but believe me,in my country i´m far beyond the average.not tryna be a smartass, but i´m going to study linguistic,so that´s why i´m maybe overreacting a bit;)

  • No, no, I agree. Its fantastic that you're taking a linguistics course. Nothing to be modest about. :D

I'm currently studying Latin at College.

  • No, you're doing quite well. One thing to watch out for, though, is to put a space between the period (or comma) and the next word.

  • No this game is not awful ^^

  • i hope there will be castlevania symphony of the night songs later on.

    else, ill be pissed

  • I don't know why I get a Final Fantasy Tactics vibe from this song, but I do.

  • I dont know if Bloody Tears is on the list, Im doing these in order, but that in my opinion is the best castlevania music ever.

This one is also very good

  • Awesome music.

This is off-topic, but the percussion rythm is similar to the percussion rythm from Make Me Bad by Korn.

  • That's not off-topic, it's very much on-topic. You're right though, it sounds exactly the same. Very good observation.

  • @Connell66 yup. its exactly the same lol

  • Does anyone know the name of the tune that plays at the fight against Crazy Armour and Wyvern?

  • It's called Followers od Darkness--The Second. Bangin' tune actually.

  • one of my favorite songs from one of my favorite games, well done!

  • This is absolutely amazing.

  • Castlevania has some of the best songs Ever!

    =^_^=

  • Agree! castlevania's music is awesome.

this song is so.. idk but i love it.. theres something in it :p

  • impressive choice! the piano in the beginning is mesmerizing

  • Good ol' Castlevania, I hope Symphony of the Night is in here.

  • 8/10

  • Impressive.

  • mm I love garibaldi biscuits..

  • buena musica good work men

  • I LOVE THAT GAME!!

  • people say the CoD's gameplay is pretty slow but i love playing it. The music is awesome as you can tell from this video

  • Why are people comparing Final Fantasy 7 and a Castelvania game? They're both completely different. That's like comparing Fried Chicken to Jelly. It just doesn't happen.

  • @ElfOfJapan ...Or, like comparing comedy film to a horror film.

  • @Kelvinian hey now I find some films that are meant to be horror but I end up almost dieing of laghter at the end. sometimes it's because of how stupid the movie was.

  • Very good song. After listening to it for a few times, I'm adding it to my personal playlist. This makes the SECOND video game song from a game I've NEVER played before added to my playlist.

    Thanks SupraDarky!

  • Hey no problem! I'm glad people are discovering new video game songs with this list! :)

  • DAMN YOU, GALBADIA HOTEL! Why didn't you have this track (and Dracula's second theme)?

  • great music hell yea

  • SotN was good, because of its sound track and because it was radically different from all (at the time) other games in the series. I grew up with Super Castlevania IV, so it will always be my favourite. It had the best version of Vampire Killer I've heard, and excellent versions of The Beginning and Bloody Tears. My favourite original songs were Simon's Theme, the treasure room music, and Room of close Associates.

  • Oh God..first Final Fantasy VII and now CastleVania: Symphony of the Night gets attacked when most people think its the best!?

..Please don't ruin one of the greatest video game franchises ever with your fanboyism!!!

  • I still say FF7's fame grew more out of some people saying it was good than a lot of people playing it. It's like a lot of people just assume its good. anyway this tune is really nice.

  • FF7's fame grew because it had anime style art and because it was on a new system. Plus after Wild ARMs people were desperate for a good game.

  • Which is a shame, because it really wasn't all that great. SotN, which came out the same year, is infinitely more deserving of the praise all the idiot fanboys heap on FF7.

  • Very nice song. Cool combination of classical symphonic music and modern electro... or whatever is it called. It is good that Castlevania music keeps up with the times....

  • exelente musica

  • i haven't played much castlevania games, but it's veeerry surprising to hear that SoTN ain't the best! That game was amazing! Is there a better castlevania sidescroller than SoTN?

  • This one is the best in the whole series... And also one of the greatest sidescrollers ever made

  • I think the ones where Michiru Yamane is the composer have the best OST.

  • SotN may not be THE best, but it is definitely one of the greatest. to say otherwise is just lying to sound "different and cool"

  • i cant stop replaying this song!i love castlevania

  • i liked lament of innocense better than COD

    o_o

  • I am a big fan of Castlevania series SOTN and CoD are great games. I can't say which is the best.

  • This VGM is really good.

  • anyone else find hip drop lvl.2 absurdly powerful?

  • Ms Yamane is Awesome!

  • I gotta give this game back to my pal soon...I'm gonna miss it :(

  • I do have a few favorites from this game...Heck, I like the game overall, hate me if you want. While lacking in complex and challenging stage design, it has ambiance. Plus, the music, character design, and storyline all rock, in my humble opinion. Garibaldi Courtyard definitely is a great track - ranks right up there with the best of the Castlevania series, if you ask me.

  • Why would expect anyone to hate you for saying that? If I had a choice, I would own this game over NitM/SotN.

I love NitM/SotN, but it has problems (Such as the lack of a boss rush mode along with a single difficulty level that is so, so far from being a true "break a sweat" experience).

  • You're totally crazy. I'm one of the biggest fans of Castlevania, but I have to admit this game is bad.

Level designs lack inspiration. You always feel like you're inside 4 walls, even if you're in the forest. And that's because the trees and all objects in the world are not designed with polygons. Everything is just a wall with a texture making it look like there's a vase, a candle, or a window. But all there is is a wall with a texture, so you can't interact with the objects you see.

  • Nice music =D

    Would it be blasphemous to say that I have yet to play a single Castlevania game? D;

  • Yes! It would!

    : )

  • It´s the best song

  • Are you fucking kidding me? This game was better than Nocturne/Symphony.

  • Hahahaah , fool ...

everyone and everything knows that Symphony of the night is the best Castlevania game ever

  • I got nega-rated up the ass for saying that CoD was better than NitM/SotN? I played both games religiously and I came to learn that CoD was just a better, longer and harder game. SotN was too easy. And graphics have no impact on this matter either.

"everyone and everything knows that Symphony of the night is the best Castlevania game ever"? LMFAO! What a shallow remark.... I'm not even gonna dignify that with a response.

    : )

  • Who cares about graphics or difficulty?

The important things are: Gameplay, story and music.

The gameplay of CoD sucks! You can't interact with anything and you can't even fall off a platform because there are "invisible walls" everywhere. The story is so empty I can't even remember it. The music is excellent, but that's the only good thing in the game.

So go then and play Gears of War if you enjoy good graphics and leave Castlevania for good gamers.

  • DiegoVizia, nobody here is saying that graphics make a game better.

All I was saying was that NitM/SotN was way too easy. It should have been harder, like Minuet of Dawn/AoS and Crucifix of the Blue Moon/DoS.

  • Yeah, I think this Curse of Darkness game was great. I hate it when people block their minds and say that any 3d castlevania simpy sucks/will suck.

  • Thank you xtrife57!

God, someone finally agrees with me in regards to such an great Castlevania game. I can't understand why it's so fucking underrated?

  • When you talk about something, only to later realize you were wrong, the correct thing to do is to face your past words and accept you commited an error.

And here, I am the one who was wrong. CoD is one of the best games, and it doesn't deserve my previous comments.

I know I may sound stupid, but I replayed it a few weeks ago, and the experience was indescribable. The scenarios, the music, the Innocent Devils, the weapon crafting... everything was amazing.

  • Yes, there's a bit of exploration restriction and a couple of musics that I personally don't like, as well as a mediocre last level. But those are minor flaws. The game has SO MANY good things that you just forget about them.

I just can't understand why I didn't appreciate it right from the start.

I feel the obligation to apologize to JonathanFerGold, and I have to agree with him: Castlevania Curse of Darkness is the Ultimate Castlevania Experience.

  • No need for apology: It was your opinion. I am just known to challenge people's opinions, when I realize they don't understand what's really presented. It was never personal.

Yeah I agree: While Curse of Darkness may have minor restrictions on exploration, the visual environments themselves are too beautiful not to be desired. But then again, this isn't Grand Theft Auto or Shadows of the Colossus. Honestly, I never had the intention of playing a Castlevania game for the sake of exploration.

  • Say what?

    I'm confused... Are you serious?

Then, I'm just confused as to why your previous comments were negative about the game?

Can you clarify as to why you originally thought this game sucked? I was always under the impression that the whole "Curse of Darkness" experience was impossible to misunderstand, considering the awesome shit you do in the game.

  • I don't know the reason. I myself can't understand why I didn't enjoy the game the first time.

The evolution of the ID's, the item stealing for crafting rare weapons, the secret rooms, the chairs, the beautiful scenarios, the wonderful music... how come I only appreciate the music the first time? ... I don't have an answer for that...

All I can say now is that I'm sorry for the way I treated you, and that you were right this whole time. I can be a pain sometimes...

  • Ha ha ha, that's crazy dude.

Well I have to admit: When I first played this game, I absolutely hated the first 20 minutes (The Abandoned Castle, basically). However once I arrived at Baljhet Mountains and started fighting monster left and right, weapon crafting and leveling up.... I was like "This game is incredible!". I had realized the experience was deep and refreshing from typical 2-D Castlevania games. And that was me when the game first came out in 2005.

  • "The evolution of the ID's, the item stealing for crafting rare weapons, the secret rooms, the chairs, the beautiful scenarios, the wonderful music..."

That comment pretty much sums up when I love this Castlevania. And because the majority of the Castlevania fans put this game down despite those reasons, I know that this game is terribly underrated.

  • Indeed.

Many Castlevania fans don't like this game because they can't accept the transition from 2D to 3D, even though CoD is exactly what a Castlevania game should look like in 3D.

In addition, the vast majority of gamers don't stop to take a look at details on the scenarios or keep playing the game after beating it looking for secret areas. Many don't even listen to the music!

I don't think fans will ever accept a 3D Castlevania, but I can't wait for a next-gen Castlevania to come out.

  • No doubt, no doubt....

I can't wait either. Honestly, I love all the Castlevania games. It's just that Curse of Darkness is so unique from them all. Like I was saying before, it is a refleshing experience from all the other Castlevanias.

I don't know.... Unlike most people, I found very little things wrong with the game. Well as minor as it is, I can say that Leon Belmont's walking/running animations has Hector's walking/running animations beat by a thousand paces.

  • Well, they are probably the ones that saw the terrible N64 version of Castlevania. It is hard to see something in 3d, because you expect more to come from it. They want the successor of Castlevania SotN, and I personally love SotN more than CoD, but I love the atmosphere of the game and how rich it was. I even love the voice acting, and that wasn't really good, but it was the nostalga of playing that game that I truly love. That is why I resent the remake that comes with Dracula X for PSP.
