"PEOPLE DIED SO I CAN RHYME, THINK IM GONNA GRAB THE MIC AND WASTE MY NATION'S TIME?!!!!" got this album when i was 18 1990. krs is responsible for so much info given to me. direction. outlook. im 38. and still listening. to him. THATS STRENGTH. GUIDANCE. WITHOUT A MALE ROLE MODEL. NO DADDY. JUST HIP HOP. AND I OPEN TO EVERYTHING. KRS IS A MAJOR PART OF ME BEING A STRONG FATHER AND HUSBAND. AND MAN. HIP HOP.
one of the top five hiphop albums of all time. KRS-1 is one of the top five hiphop artist of all time. lyrics are well thought out. absolutely amazing album by one of the all time greats. CLASSICCCCCCCCCCCCC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i was 18 and a junior in high school when this came out. changed my whole view on a lot of social issues at the time. peace
I have heard a story about a boy from the Middle East who lived in Canada listened to one of KRS-One's jams on the Edutainment Album repeatedly. He had to be amazed at the Blastmaster having so much insight about the "Eastside" without having to visit there.
The greatest thing is you don't ahve to worry about being trolled on a board like this because the blast Masta's music is fundamentally about truth. A great way to open an album in more of a downtempo jazzy, club feel and yet it's a TOTAL banger at hte same time. I don't know how everyone doesn't listen to this music.....The teacher just really lays down the interactive lesson and yet hes STILL the illest dopest mc in almost every aspect. His voice is perfect and because of his ragga exp hes
I tried uploading some of the songs, such as edutainment, from this album but there not available in the US which is stupid, as thats the primary place you should be able to listen to him.
edutainment and sex & violence were the best albums.. i remember the source had a 10 yr anniversary top 5 categories issue.. Sex and violence came in no.1 for best album and krs-one no.2 for best mc (rakim came in 1st)...Back when the source used to deal with real hiphop
Straight Knowledge in effect ! Some parts of this song should be studied in school. Particulary where nappy head is there. Too much bullshit in the head of our youths. Time to catch back time lost. We're all children of GOD !
All the BDP albums(Criminal Minded, By All Means Necessary, Ghetto Music: the Blueprint Of Hip Hop, Edutainment, Sex & Violence) are top of the line and innovating still 15 years plus years later the proof is in the music!
You're right about that shit! In response to Blackman in Effect by B.D.P. as to how many views Soulja Boy gets. That's some bullshit for real. It just goes to show that most of the people in this world is fake ass people, and only a small percentage like you and me are real ass down to earth people. Word. Keep listening to the real hip hop, you and I know the deal between the real and the fake,
@DontHateOnDonnie 1 1 brother. Tell it. I never stress it though. Supercheezy fuckheads like soulja boy are temporary and class is permanent......which basically means that when dildo's like soulja have passed into anonymity and nobody cares about his broke ass, people will STILL be bumping and celebrating Kris' work. Thats whats real, cream really does rise to the top and stays there, so have faith bro.
And just to prove what I'm saying.....let me pick a supercheezy artist from the same era as when this album came out. We'll pick Vanilla Ice for this comparison with Soulja Boy. Now who the fuck ever talks about or listens to ice's work from back then? Fucking nobody that has any credibility!! Yet he was a commercial success at the time, massively so. He's passed into anonymity and got filed under "fake bullshit" whereas people are still bumping "edutainment" and still learning from it.
Great Upload from possibly the best album put out by the Mighty KRS-1 and BDP and definitely one of the most underrated albums in the history of Hip Hop.
Could you upload "Beef" and "30 Cops" from this same album?
@TheThirdEyeCeesU I agree man, this track and "Beef" were killer tracks and showed real balls for their lyrical content. Thanks for uploading and taking me back to a more positive time in hip-hop
