what orchestra is this? im doing this and i like her music (and her(:) the best but all the versions on itunes seems to be the fast version instead of slower like hers, any one know where to find a mp3 copy of this music (it there is on)
I am doing this variation in my dance recital. I have changed it a little bit because I am still a little unsteady on my pointes. Especially on the pekaes at the end. She is the best aurora and my favorite ballerina. She has amazing balances. I wish I could balance like she does. Her arabesque is amazing. She is amazing as Giselle too. The mad scene is awesome!
I was also completely awe-struck by this performance (still am, don't get me wrong) & thought she was head & shoulders above anyone else...until I saw it performed by Ekaterina Osmolkina. Now I'm happily undecided. I might need to watch each one another 100 times.

She has exceptionally strong feet and is very flexible, that's just the physical part I'm in awe of. Not to mention the balance she gives the performance of artistry (as many of us notice) and technique. The expression, as someone else said the softness of her arms, amazing balance and I don't mean on her toes. I mean as an artist, this is what I always encourage my students to find, it's an inner balance, where mind meets body. Her heart meets her feet.
Hmm... I do love her dancing but what is up with her feet? Something is off there. Lovely performance but for this particular role, my favorite Aurora is still Durante. In fact, I'd say this performance tries to mirror Durante but not successfully.
@efsharpe259 You can find this music on the 1992 Andrew Mogrelia and Czecho-Slovak Philharmonic Orchestra Sleeping Beauty-it's one of the first you'll find if you look on ITunes. It's track 22 on Disc 3, or no. 61 in total. I'd personally recommend buying the whole recording though-it's the best rendition of the Sleeping Beauty I've ever seen.
wow..... ok iv learnt this solo before and it's very dificult (for me and i'm only 12) so to see that is breathtaking after i clumsily tried to pick up the choreography and try to make it look effortless despite my best efforts i still don't think it worked! She makes it look like a piece of cake! wow well someday i aspire to be like that!!!!!!!!! BRAVO!!!!!!!!!!!!!
...no words to describe how beautiful was that. Her Aurora is one of the most beautiful, inoccent and charming I've ever seen. No way of comparing with Zakharova, their styles are SO DIFFERENT, I hate the comparison with dancers, each dancer brings their own special touch to every role, some dance a role better than others but is still beautiful. Everything is just about seeing the good thing a dancer brings to the performance and take out the bad and just enjoy! Ballet is about that, enjoying.
she seems SO MUCH OLDER!!! she looks older but there is a strong sense of youth in her dancing... its always there in every role... the innocence and vulnerability. she seems to be more mature on stage than any 25 yr old ive EVER seen
I LOVE Alina for her gentle, smooth and precise dancing. She is a pleasure to watch because she becomes the part she is dancing. I enjoy Svetlana, but there is something too regal and over the top about her dancing. It's sometimes hard to believe she is an innocent young girl. I just love Alina's pure dancing! And talk about perfect lines, arms, feet and PERFECT control!!!! She's the whole package!!!
she is so beautiful!! i like that it's not "big" for the whole thing...when variations are all jumps and turns and whacking your leg it turns into a competition. i like that the beginning is all about characterization and artistry and music!!!
i love her,but i hate this solo, the interpretation and choreography.its one of the worst solos in the female repertoire, its so boring you could sell it as a sleeping pill
i kinda know what you mean, its not really anything big till the end, but i think she makes it work. i really like watching her throughout the whole thing. i also really like the music ;-)
Beautiful!! She's so artistic, and she's got those gorgeous lines and extensions. Plus, she always looks like she's really enjoying herself! I like this variation; it's so... classical. Pretty and sweet.
I don't know if anyone can out-do this because of the combination of artistry, softness of port de bras, and flawless foot work. Thank you for the thousands of hours of class so that the rest of us can witness this as a result!
@katherineproctor Its amazing everytime isnt it.....the epitome of technique. I sat here wondering, I wonder how she has such great balance, is it something about her feet. Why is her passe so high, does she have some sort of hyper mobile hip? As if she has some physical edge, but surprisingly I find more comfort in thinking it's allll about practice.
@LVdancerbabe having a high retire is a vaganova thing. it means you have to turn out more, open up your hips more (and lift from your lower abs) and really lift from underneath the thigh, which is ideally what you would want in a passe or retire. if you look at a lot of russian dancers that were trained in the vaganova syllabus, you'll see that they too have a high passe/retire.
@sugarplumcherry6 I dont know if thats true as I think Darcy Bussel and Sylvie Guillem have the highest passe position I have seen to this day , even with the younger crop of dancers,
Beautiful dancing. Though personally I thought the tempo was painfully slow. It's nice to see such flawless control, but still... this is supposed to be a happy moment, right?
Alina is the dancer!, she has passion, she is enjoying each role that she dance the she is very spontaneous! and technically she is perfect, she is really clean in each position.
Does anyone know how tall she is exactly? I have been trying to find stats on her, but all I've found are old articles, and interviews. She gives me hope that I small dancer can dance big! And make it big as well!
I like this so much. Yes, she is very princess like, she is supposed to be. I saw her other videos too! Simply amazing! Fabulous everything! Artistry, technique, passion, all there!
one of the best auroras EVER!! :)
