  • All the "enforcement" is for is revenue for the city/county/state. No studies that I am aware of have shown a reduction in the accident rate by installing these cameras.

  • @TheSFCRetired The rate has actually gone up because many people now stop for yellow lights for fear that they get caught in a red, and then get rearended by the person behind them who easily could have made it through the yellow as well.

  • cool music

  • that last one explains why you dont run red lights...

  • its reverse psychology

  • seems like the camera didnt stop him from running the red light OR the accident.

  • red, red, red... I need red blood on my face!!

  • Mexicans are bad about running redlights

  • Seen a crash like this, hence I always look out for people who dont look for red lights. Pretty shit paranoia to have really.

  • Living in Riverside is awesome, but my dad has been caught 2 times for the photo enforcement

  • While I love red light cameras, I think they're always placed in the wrong spots! We FINALLY got one at the intersection of Alessandro/Arlington/Chicago/Central... and even then, it doesn't take pictures of all cars from all angles (I think it only takes pictures of cars going straight). In some instances, it's impossible to stop... example: bus (where the students have no seatbelts) and an ambulence (patient in back). No exceptions otherwise.

  • Only an idiot would think it is impossible for a school bus to stop because the kids don't have seat belts. Come on! Use your brain. If a school bus cannot stop for a red light on time, no parent should ever allow their child to ride one and the bus drivers should have their drivers licenses revoked.

  • Only an idiot would fail to consider the BASIC physics involved in a 20,000 pound school bus needing to stop in 50 feet when moving at a speed greater than 40 miles an hour. Let me guess... not a bus driver?

  • If the posted speed is 40 miles an hour the amber should be at least 4 seconds long. That should be plenty of time for the drivers who are committed to pass through the intersection.

  • I think they should extend the time without telling anyone, that would fix some issues. I think seatbelts should be installed in buses as well. Normal drivers have no excuse.

  • Then don't drive a bus or an ambulance.

Schoolbuses are supposed to drive slow enough to be able to stop at all reds safely, and ambulances with patients are supposed to override traffic considerations, that's what their siren is for.

  • You obviously don't have experience in this area. Even if a school bus is driving under the limit, sometimes that can make it even harder to make a light.

And in terms of an ambulence, they don't go code 3 all the time, even if a patient is in the back. If they are transporting only, a very ill patient could be in the back and slamming on the brakes or even braking hard can cause serious problems.

  • Try telling a patient with an abdominal aortic anyeurism (in which any violent/excess movement can cause the aorta to rupture, making someone bleed to death) that their ambulance driver must slam on the brakes to make a light. I think ALL people should obey (and be held accountable when they fail to obey) traffic lights, with some consideration given to ambulances and buses. Ambulances literally protect someone's life and buses don't have restraints. How are you going to throw the book at them?

  • People say red light cameras violate privacy? It can tell exactly what happened in an accident. I love them

  • At 1:08, how could you not see that it's RED!! Are they frickin blind or just stupid!!

  • I'd say it's the latter. I've seen enough idiots out there who have no intention of stopping on a red.

  • ahah my third grade teachers on there

    haha thats great
