In the beginning of Soccer/Football in England it was called Association Football, however that was too long to say. So the British narrowed it down. Taking the SOC and adding ER. Eventually they added the second C. Remind you this is in the late 1800s-early 1900s. There was already Rugby Football which is why they called it Association Football. So by saying soccer is not right is not right.
