well let's put it this way........I would of loved to of seen the Stones during this period (70-74) live. As I would of loved to have ssen the Clash live in 78-81.
I have had a chance to see today's Stones a number of times, and declined and never regreted it.
However I can assure you, that I don't feel the same way of other acts "of the 60's". I would travel 1000 miles to see Dylan, Leonard Cohen, or Van Morrison...
very observant. but they are both great, and the singing and the band is very tight, which makes for a wonderful performance of an excellent song. Do you mean the audio and the video are not synchronized? Because if you are trying to say that the sound of the video is not coordinated with the singing, then I would disagree. This is one of their best performances of that song. If you are referring to Mr. Jagger's lips in re the audio, then yes, it looks like a dubbed movie. So, just listen.
@ chrisb'53, yes thank you. when i see it i start thinking about Godzilla movies dubbed from Japanese and other fine imports such as My Name is Nobody of the makaroni kauboi muubi genre dubbed from Italian. Yes, it is distracting, so i try not to look when it plays, but I like this version because it's one of the best, so I listen and try not to watch. I haven't tried to see is the the instruments are out of sync as well, but i guess they are. At least I'm not going crazy, yet. thanks again.
Without Mick Taylor, they are a garage band plain and simple........
And not even the greatest garage band......the Clash took that title long ago......
I love the Stones, but it was time to hang up the boots, after Bill Wyman left. Now they are just a circus act. They are as interesting as U2 now........and that ain't saying much.
Completely agree that they weren't the same after Mick Taylor left. Buck Owens was never the same after Don Rich's death. Tells you how important great (and I mean great) guitar players are to a band.
yes, but without Mr. Richards, Mr. Watts, and Mr. Wyman, there would have been no floor, and without Mr. Jagger singing, it would have been tied but immobile. Mr. Taylor was their best guitarist, but it's impossible to know what they would have been like sans Mr. Taylor. Life doesn't provide controlled experiments. In other words, it's impossible to know what they would have done with a different guitarist. I'm glad they chose him, but to place them under the Clash is a stretch of an opinion.
@ King Deep, Your highness, the comment came from six stories up, by Manosblim. To writ: "Without Mick Taylor, they are a garage band plain and simple. And not even the greatest garage band...the Clash took that title long ago." Translation: 'they are a garage band w/out Mick Taylor, and the Clash became the greatest garage band a long time ago" (before the author was born?). He loves the Stones, but he thinks they are a boring circus act. It's called tough love, aka defective reasoning.
The great thing about the stones is they are somewhat the best at what they do, keith, in my opinion the greatest rhythm player who's ever lived, and mick taylor in this could simply not be topped, charlie watts on the drums fantastic and wyman on bass and it all fits in to form something this great. Fantastic Band!!
Anyone notice Mick yelling the last two verses of the song to Keith so he will remember? Watch his lips. It's funny and keith just smiles and nods his head! Cool. Great bandmates!
This friday I am going to see Charlie Watts in a band with 2 boogie woogie piano players, 2 saxes and a bass. Will be terrific. Mainly, how great to see a legend who is part of this awesome band.
with mick taylor they were the world's greatest rock n' roll band now with ron wood they're the greatest garage band i mean every great band needs a good guitarrist
i wouldnt say that id say since mick taylor and the eventual departure of wymann the stones have had at least 5 good songs without them but the stones should add darryl jones to the band as permanent bass player these days. mick taylor is an amazing player. but id say the stuff like you got me rocking and rough justice is up there with the best stuff the stones have ever done.
Yes Taylor is great but saying Keith can't play is an idiotic statement. Keith is argueably the best rythym guitar player ever. Even Jimmy Page once said in an interview "You can forgive Keith Richards for everything he's done because of his playing on Dance Little Sister". He is revered by guitarists like Clapton, Page, Nugent, and even Kirk Hammet from Metalica says Richards is awesome. Its not all about lead ability. AS great as Taylor was, he could'nt equal Keith's perfect rythym. FACT!
@150sevenmag couldn't agree more. keith is often downplayed as a guitarrist because he's not much of a lead. well he's not, though in fact he can play a feasible lead guitar but surely no clapton or page. but dont forget that keith invented most of rock's best riffs and he's the one who invented to stones' famous sloppy sound which is actually what made them the band they are. in his own line he's one of the best guitarrist in rock music.
lol @ dude saying it was synched. Anyway, this video is fucking crazy. I love that solo Mick Taylor plays, it's so good. But it's also funny to see him on stage, looking like an absolute robot, while Jagger prances around him thinking, "move boy". Lovely video.
I guess you're right king. The bottom line for me is, I've always been a Stones fan and especially the years that Mick Taylor was with the Stones. Of the countless bootlegs I've managed to obtain over the years, I keep gravitating back to those from the Mick Taylor years as being my favorites.

He felt a little as an outsider and didn't care for the party scene. He had enough after 6 years. He didn't want to continue, and you gotta give him props for doing what he believed in and not what everyone else wanted. It was his life.

You're right Jason, just did some research. I was dead wrong. Townes didn't record it till 94. Thanks for the gentle correction my friend. Hell of a song, absolutely.
I can remember when this first surfaced and WE felt so special and relieved. Now it,and clips like it from the same era are pretty much common place and I for one LOVE IT! I hope it will only open the flood gates and those hanging onto the '72 stuff will freely disperse it! So all of you guys out there hanging onto the clips from the '72 MSG shows please stop hesitating and start uploading them so we can all see them. ONLY A MATTER OF TIME ANYWAY! thx
Mick Taylor just looks so out of place. Killer licks, just looks like a statue standing next to those 2 freaks. Woody is the perfect 2nd guitar in that band, because he has the stage presence with the filthy licks.
When your sitting back in your rose pink cadiallic, make bets on Kentucky Derby day....ll be in my basement room with a needle and spoon. Fuckin classic.
i don't think you can have a greatest moment in rock history because their were so many great concerts and times, but this is is definetly on the list of great rock and roll times/history.
you wish, redneck. why dont you stick to your garth brooks and STFU. Zeppelin smashed any and ALL concert attendance AND record sales by either of the bands you just mentioned....
well asshole..why are you watching the video anyway. and who is garth brooks and that other stfu you mention...furthermore the beatles were better than bonham and the boys. attendance records can be deceiving as well. i will not respond to you anymore..as pete townshend would say...fuck off!!!
Keith's always been the more raw, pure, visceral wreckless talent, while Mick always seemed the safer, more calculating, 'star' as any great front-man worth his salt should be. Together they're a genius of a pairing. It would have been interesting to see what would have happened had Brian lived. He was actually the original, driving force behind the Stones. Would Mick have usurped him? Keef?
They already had usurped him before he died because he was too fucked up to deliver anything creatively. Brian was the pretty-boy guitar player back in the beginning, but Mick and Keith wrote the songs.
And I believe you're accurate in your assessment of Brian's being 'too fucked-up' etc.. I DO recall Brian as always having been the one associated (more than the others)with drugs. After all-it IS what killed him. But, that said, I find it remarkable that anyone could have been more fucked-up (presuming you mean fucked-up on drugs) than Keith...and I mean that in the fondest of ways-I've fallen out of a coconut tree or two myself in my day.
Been my favorite band since 72(6th grade) of course all tours after this were still great but I have to say that technically, visually and youthful energy will always for me make this the best stones- US tour(72)-no props or giant stages just kick ass rocknroll-just like- Zeppelin at that time. Thanks for the video!!
...play the guitar boy...hell yeah...the stones are still rolling..:D :D :D

I hope it will only open the flood gates and those hanging onto the '72 stuff will freely disperse it! So all of you guys out there hanging onto the clips from the '72 MSG shows please stop hesitating and start uploading them so we can all see them. ONLY A MATTER OF TIME ANYWAY! thx

Mick Taylor just looks so out of place. Killer licks, just looks like a statue standing next to those 2 freaks. Woody is the perfect 2nd guitar in that band, because he has the stage presence with the filthy licks.

Is this the greatest moment in rock history?
Mahlcolm 3 years ago
The Stones' US Tour 72 probably is.
BlueCobolt 3 years ago 3
I agree.
filolovejoy 3 years ago
i don't think you can have a greatest moment in rock history because their were so many great concerts and times, but this is is definetly on the list of great rock and roll times/history.
jesterman007 3 years ago
No doubt Zeppelin is the god of rock and roll. No better combo than that.
Awesome song here by the stones.
Buckiller 3 years ago
best band ever! no exeptions!!! and mick is awesome!! :D
iloovemick 3 years ago 2
Zep holds that honor but this is a great song by an awesome band!
haightbum 3 years ago
i think you must be on drugs son. the who and the stones and probably a few other groups are better than zep..PLANT that in yer fuckin garden...
1kyredneck1 3 years ago
you wish, redneck. why dont you stick to your garth brooks and STFU. Zeppelin smashed any and ALL concert attendance AND record sales by either of the bands you just mentioned....
haightbum 3 years ago
well asshole..why are you watching the video anyway. and who is garth brooks and that other stfu you mention...furthermore the beatles were better than bonham and the boys. attendance records can be deceiving as well. i will not respond to you anymore..as pete townshend would say...fuck off!!!
1kyredneck1 3 years ago
O.K. their were like a whole bunch of great rock bands through history. you can't hav a top. they were all great in their own way.
jesterman007 3 years ago
Keith look's like he was so stoned on heroin on the 72 tour, the peak of his addiction.
The Stones were wild back then all the girls and drugs they wanted .Who know's what stuff Mick used to take ,he has never really discussed it.

Two words:
Key - FFF
Mick T rocks too...
DrJTG 3 years ago
Keith's always been the more raw, pure, visceral wreckless talent, while Mick always seemed the safer, more calculating, 'star' as any great front-man worth his salt should be. Together they're a genius of a pairing. It would have been interesting to see what would have happened had Brian lived. He was actually the original, driving force behind the Stones. Would Mick have usurped him? Keef?
octaviustentacles 3 years ago
They already had usurped him before he died because he was too fucked up to deliver anything creatively. Brian was the pretty-boy guitar player back in the beginning, but Mick and Keith wrote the songs.
jer114 3 years ago
Point taken.
And I believe you're accurate in your assessment of Brian's being 'too fucked-up' etc.. I DO recall Brian as always having been the one associated (more than the others)with drugs. After all-it IS what killed him. But, that said, I find it remarkable that anyone could have been more fucked-up (presuming you mean fucked-up on drugs) than Keith...and I mean that in the fondest of ways-I've fallen out of a coconut tree or two myself in my day.
octaviustentacles 3 years ago
Very accurate assessment of Mick and Keef...
Nice user name too! Damn that's a mouthful...
'72 tour deserves an official live album!
frankchurch2009 3 years ago
I know Mick is the deserved star of the show, but Keith has always been the heart of the Stones to me. The man is a legend in his own time.

where was it?
helenapwf 3 years ago
Been my favorite band since 72(6th grade) of course all tours after this were still great but I have to say that technically, visually and youthful energy will always for me make this the best stones- US tour(72)-no props or giant stages just kick ass rocknroll-just like- Zeppelin at that time. Thanks for the video!!
