  • ...play the guitar boy...hell yeah...the stones are still rolling..:D :D :D

  • Saw these guys on the "Exile on Mainstreet" tour. Fucking awesome. 1973.

  • @t7929 ....the Exile tour was 1972 mate, they were recording Goats Head Soup in Jamaica and Touring Europe in 1973

  • Que temazo pordios!!!

  • muito bom! estamos esperando por vcs rolling stones no brasil!!!

  • eles viram pode ter certeza!

  • I would love to see a guitar face off of Mick Taylor against Don Rich. That would be amazing.

  • Without Mick Taylor they were NEVER the same. 1972 was the Stones at their PEAK.

  • The video and singing sound aren't coordinated.

  • very observant. but they are both great, and the singing and the band is very tight, which makes for a wonderful performance of an excellent song. Do you mean the audio and the video are not synchronized? Because if you are trying to say that the sound of the video is not coordinated with the singing, then I would disagree. This is one of their best performances of that song. If you are referring to Mr. Jagger's lips in re the audio, then yes, it looks like a dubbed movie. So, just listen.

  • "If you are referring to Mr. Jagger's lips in re the audio, then yes, it looks like a dubbed movie". .........that's what I meant.

  • @ chrisb'53, yes thank you. when i see it i start thinking about Godzilla movies dubbed from Japanese and other fine imports such as My Name is Nobody of the makaroni kauboi muubi genre dubbed from Italian. Yes, it is distracting, so i try not to look when it plays, but I like this version because it's one of the best, so I listen and try not to watch. I haven't tried to see is the the instruments are out of sync as well, but i guess they are. At least I'm not going crazy, yet. thanks again.

  • Without Mick Taylor, they are a garage band plain and simple........

And not even the greatest garage band......the Clash took that title long ago......

I love the Stones, but it was time to hang up the boots, after Bill Wyman left. Now they are just a circus act. They are as interesting as U2 now........and that ain't saying much.

  • Being the world's greatest stage act is pretty sad, it's true...

  • Completely agree that they weren't the same after Mick Taylor left. Buck Owens was never the same after Don Rich's death. Tells you how important great (and I mean great) guitar players are to a band.

  • Mick Taylor "tied the room together"......

  • Good observation! He pushed this band to greatness. They have been a tribute to themselves since 74

  • yes, but without Mr. Richards, Mr. Watts, and Mr. Wyman, there would have been no floor, and without Mr. Jagger singing, it would have been tied but immobile. Mr. Taylor was their best guitarist, but it's impossible to know what they would have been like sans Mr. Taylor. Life doesn't provide controlled experiments. In other words, it's impossible to know what they would have done with a different guitarist. I'm glad they chose him, but to place them under the Clash is a stretch of an opinion.

  • To put them in a place under the clash with anyone they could have found other than Taylor? Ha Ha. God Lord.

    Thats funny. Whoever said that.

  • @ King Deep, Your highness, the comment came from six stories up, by Manosblim. To writ: "Without Mick Taylor, they are a garage band plain and simple. And not even the greatest garage band...the Clash took that title long ago." Translation: 'they are a garage band w/out Mick Taylor, and the Clash became the greatest garage band a long time ago" (before the author was born?). He loves the Stones, but he thinks they are a boring circus act. It's called tough love, aka defective reasoning.

  • I love this song

  • Hatalmas!Very good!Ez a kedvencem a Stonestól!It is my favourite!

  • Great vid, thanx ! Where was it ?

  • Amen, dimesy. Richards' rhythm playing gives me wood every time...

  • "and I won't forget to put roses on your grave"

This is my #1 all time favorite song.

  • My God where sis the time go? There isn't another group that can compare.

  • CMS

  • this is one of my fav stones songs, or at least stones version. this sounds like its got a little juming jack influence

  • keef <3

  • The great thing about the stones is they are somewhat the best at what they do, keith, in my opinion the greatest rhythm player who's ever lived, and mick taylor in this could simply not be topped, charlie watts on the drums fantastic and wyman on bass and it all fits in to form something this great. Fantastic Band!!

  • Don't forget Mick J's enthusiastic showmanship! I've never seen a singer who could jump around like a 20 year old in his 60s. Even after all these changes the original line up went through, the Stones are still able to rock!

  • Absolutley, here in 1972, it's the least anyone would expect but 2009 at 66 years old is just astounding!

  • Anyone notice Mick yelling the last two verses of the song to Keith so he will remember? Watch his lips. It's funny and keith just smiles and nods his head! Cool. Great bandmates!

  • Comment removed

  • micky t. was the derek jeter of the stones. no flash in his game , he just put 'em on top and left 'em there.

  • play it loud baby

  • incredible,the energy,just amazing....

  • the best version of the best song by the best band =)

  • This friday I am going to see Charlie Watts in a band with 2 boogie woogie piano players, 2 saxes and a bass. Will be terrific. Mainly, how great to see a legend who is part of this awesome band.

  • awesome

  • Any of you notice who's playing LEAD Guitar and carrying this song???

    MLc

  • Hell yeah! Go Mick Taylor! "Play that guitar, boy!"

  • John Mayer?

  • sounds not good on this.problem.

  • sounds good, shut it you idiot

  • los mejores!!!

  • i love them, very much i think... at this moment of my life, they are the only thing that can make me REALLY happy.

  • the kings

  • keith is god

  • keef is my life

  • ILL be in my basement room with a needle and spoon and another girl to take my pain away. Keith had to write this. lol

  • IN DEED

  • mick taylor is from another level on that guitar

  • This is the absolute best version of Dead Flowers. Reasons being the speed, the emphasis on lead guitar, and the drums.

  • overall, louder and faster, yeah. very nice.

i wish we had a better audio quality of this, though.

  • "overall, louder and faster, yeah. very nice" - IBLUES

Dude, if ya likes this version yer gonna love my brother`s cover. I`m on second guitar and its fu%$in wizard!!!

Myspace search : James T Bravo

  • There are several high quality versions of this on youtube. Just type in Dead Flowers 1972.

  • Oh god, was Keith hot in the 70' or what!! x3

  • They are all accomplished musicians.

  • Shoebetya!!

  • Wait, looks or skill? I'd say both, in the most masculine way possible

  • Yeah, both. I ment the looks, tho. :)

  • mick taylor reminds me a lot of myself favouring those blues solo licks, though i'm obviously not as good as him, and a taste for patterned shirts.

  • these guys are the greatest rock and of all time

  • love micks 59/60 burst.

  • with mick taylor they were the world's greatest rock n' roll band now with ron wood they're the greatest garage band i mean every great band needs a good guitarrist

  • taylor was stupid talented/polished. woodie is o.k. regardless, jones, taylor or wood - greatest band ever,

  • i love the stones, they represent total freedom.

  • Totally, man!

  • A little..LOT out of sync.

  • THE BEATLES

    ROLLING

    DOORS

  • Mick Taylor added such a great new sound to the band

  • Great song!...The Rolling Stones rock!

  • Agree. 1972 tour is Mick Taylor and the Rolling Stones

  • Synchronysation SUCKS ☻

  • bravissimo taylor !! but i rolling sono sempre i + grandi

  • Stones are and shall remain greatest band ever...Mick T was simply the best lead player ever during his tenure with the band...he is a god.

  • No doubt Brian Jones was a genious. But I prefer the Stones with Mick Taylor. The band definitely had a different sound with MT, one that I prefer.

  • ahh man, i love this band.

  • In 1972 it was Mick Taylor and The Rolling Stones, this era was the best the Stones ever sounded.

  • keith is the architect conceptualist, taylor... well just a very excellent guitarist. taylor kicks woody's ass out of the arena

jones on the other hand... magical... ah the mid 60's hits just kept coming!!!

  • FAbulous Mick Taylor ! He is the greatest !

  • Mick Taylor is the best.

Rick Springfield's lead guitarist plays a Les Paul and hits the notes like Mick T. Isaac Hanson also has that feel as well.

  • i wouldnt say that id say since mick taylor and the eventual departure of wymann the stones have had at least 5 good songs without them but the stones should add darryl jones to the band as permanent bass player these days. mick taylor is an amazing player. but id say the stuff like you got me rocking and rough justice is up there with the best stuff the stones have ever done.

  • love this song.....looks like Mick blew an ounce of blow before walking out on stage. Pupils are like dinner plates!

  • The album version is good. But Mick Taylor makes this song brilliant when played live!!!

  • play the guitar boy.

  • 'cos Keith can't

  • Yes Taylor is great but saying Keith can't play is an idiotic statement. Keith is argueably the best rythym guitar player ever. Even Jimmy Page once said in an interview "You can forgive Keith Richards for everything he's done because of his playing on Dance Little Sister". He is revered by guitarists like Clapton, Page, Nugent, and even Kirk Hammet from Metalica says Richards is awesome. Its not all about lead ability. AS great as Taylor was, he could'nt equal Keith's perfect rythym. FACT!

  • @150sevenmag couldn't agree more. keith is often downplayed as a guitarrist because he's not much of a lead. well he's not, though in fact he can play a feasible lead guitar but surely no clapton or page. but dont forget that keith invented most of rock's best riffs and he's the one who invented to stones' famous sloppy sound which is actually what made them the band they are. in his own line he's one of the best guitarrist in rock music.

  • Taylor is such a great guitar player. I really wish he would move around a bit more-or at all.

  • Taylor didnt move cause he was so concentrated

playing. he is a genius not a buffoon.

  • yes

  • This song owns, probably one of my favorite

  • Your so right, Mick Taylor brought something amazing to the stones, that they havent had since he left.

  • Mick Taylor really brought someting to the Stones.

  • Sorry, Mick Taylor, had a brain fart, fuckin' forgive my redneck ass.....

  • You are forgiven.

  • Is that Ry Cooder(sp?) on the les paul, if not, who? drunk in blount county on a thursday-"It's a bitch"

  • I'll be in my basement room.

  • Please don't bitch.

    It's The Stones.

    Sweetness.

    Relax.

  • lol @ dude saying it was synched. Anyway, this video is fucking crazy. I love that solo Mick Taylor plays, it's so good. But it's also funny to see him on stage, looking like an absolute robot, while Jagger prances around him thinking, "move boy". Lovely video.

  • this is a good clip but its just lip singing and fake guitaring look in 0:21 mick steps back from the mic early

  • I think that the sound and video aren't synched up.

  • The vid clip is not perfectly in synch with the audio???!! It is the show bitch

  • You're right man! But the song is great!

  • I guess you're right king. The bottom line for me is, I've always been a Stones fan and especially the years that Mick Taylor was with the Stones. Of the countless bootlegs I've managed to obtain over the years, I keep gravitating back to those from the Mick Taylor years as being my favorites.

  • That last post should have read "Some valid points to be sure and I got a good laugh out of your join obscurity comment"

Also, is it the songs we love or do we love the way they sound? Gimme Shelter for example, sounded so much better from 69-73 with Mick Taylor than it ever has in the years since.

  • Hey don't get me wrong I love the Mick Taylor era it is the best years of the Stones. But it's the songs we love and the songs are Jagger/Richards. "Sympathy for the devil" "Gimme Shelter" "Can't always get what you want" "Honky Tonk Women" ect where all written before Taylor joined the band. Taylor left the Stones to do what? Join obscurity? his greatest claim to fame being "jeez he sure was great with the Stones" He should have stuck it out and I bet he wished he had.

  • Some valid points to be sure and I got a good

I'll always believe that on stage Mick Taylor brought out the best in Keith Richards and vice versa, more so than Jones/Richards or Wood/Richards.

  • He felt a little as an outsider and didn't care for the party scene. He had enough after 6 years. He didn't want to continue, and you gotta give him props for doing what he believed in and not what everyone else wanted. It was his life.

  • Yeah, it's interesting that he referred to Mick Taylor as "boy." And Taylor carried the Stones, just as he did for so many years after Brian Jones death. I like Ronnie, but Taylor took the Stones to heights they never reached again.

  • At 2:25 Jagger says to Mick Taylor "Play that guitar boy" and play he did!

The combination of Mick Taylor and Keith Richards could not be beat. Together they made the Stones of 72-73 the best EVER.

  • yeah. this was the definitive clip.

  • I hear static, not on my copy,HEHE!!!!Taylor plays sweet lead!!

  • during the time mick taylor spent with the stones they have created some stunning rock 'n' roll albums. personally, the greatest albums of rock's history.

  • Brian Jones created the STONES. Jagger and Richards made them, but without Ruby Tues, Moths Lil Helper Etc Etc, Brian Jones WAS the Jimmy Page of the Stones

  • reference to grab this concert. ladies and gentlemen - the rolling stones

(1972). originally available to the best of my knowledge by bootleg (ebay) due to legal issues between stones and label company ABKCO. one hell of a rockin' concert.

  • Mick rock 'n' move like the frontman of rock 'n' roll should, and the title's his. The chemistry of the band during this time (american albums) rightfully gives them title "the greatest rock band in the world". This concert is one of the best to date. a true standard.

  • Ronnie Wood looks more like a Stone than Taylor, but Taylor is at a whole different level. The 72' era seems to be the tightest. Its funny because if you watch Zep footage 69-73 same thing, compared to 75-77', probly when the excess started kicking in and the bands got a little sloppy

  • thats so true

  • What an incredible song. I wish the dubbing was on a little better. Is this song by Keith to Gram Parsons? Anyone know?

  • Townes Van Zandt wrote this one.

  • Blake, Im pretty sure Mick and Keith wrote this one. I think Van Zandt did cover the song though. It a hell of a song either way..

  • You're right Jason, just did some research. I was dead wrong. Townes didn't record it till 94. Thanks for the gentle correction my friend. Hell of a song, absolutely.

  • Great peformance

  • The best band in the world,EVER

  • you might be right, depends where the mood takes ya

  • So many different sounding GREAT songs.

  • I can remember when this first surfaced and WE felt so special and relieved. Now it,and clips like it from the same era are pretty much common place and I for one LOVE IT! I hope it will only open the flood gates and those hanging onto the '72 stuff will freely disperse it! So all of you guys out there hanging onto the clips from the '72 MSG shows please stop hesitating and start uploading them so we can all see them. ONLY A MATTER OF TIME ANYWAY! thx

  • Mick Taylor just looks so out of place. Killer licks, just looks like a statue standing next to those 2 freaks. Woody is the perfect 2nd guitar in that band, because he has the stage presence with the filthy licks.

  • When your sitting back in your rose pink cadiallic, make bets on Kentucky Derby day....ll be in my basement room with a needle and spoon. Fuckin classic.

  • Yeah perfect

  • I remember going to see this concert at the Forum in Los Angeles same year,Oh the good old days when Keith sang backup vocals..

Frances after all these years still a fan..

  • Oh the good old days when Keith alone sang back up.. thanks for posting .That same year I saw them at the Forum in Los Angeles..

  • Is this the greatest moment in rock history?

  • The Stones' US Tour 72 probably is.

  • I agree.

  • i don't think you can have a greatest moment in rock history because their were so many great concerts and times, but this is is definetly on the list of great rock and roll times/history.

  • No doubt Zeppelin is the god of rock and roll. No better combo than that.

Awesome song here by the stones.

  • best band ever! no exeptions!!! and mick is awesome!! :D

  • Zep holds that honor but this is a great song by an awesome band!

  • i think you must be on drugs son. the who and the stones and probably a few other groups are better than zep..PLANT that in yer fuckin garden...

  • you wish, redneck. why dont you stick to your garth brooks and STFU. Zeppelin smashed any and ALL concert attendance AND record sales by either of the bands you just mentioned....

  • well asshole..why are you watching the video anyway. and who is garth brooks and that other stfu you mention...furthermore the beatles were better than bonham and the boys. attendance records can be deceiving as well. i will not respond to you anymore..as pete townshend would say...fuck off!!!

  • O.K. their were like a whole bunch of great rock bands through history. you can't hav a top. they were all great in their own way.

  • Keith look's like he was so stoned on heroin on the 72 tour, the peak of his addiction.

The Stones were wild back then all the girls and drugs they wanted .Who know's what stuff Mick used to take ,he has never really discussed it.

  • Two words:

    Key - FFF

    Mick T rocks too...

  • Keith's always been the more raw, pure, visceral wreckless talent, while Mick always seemed the safer, more calculating, 'star' as any great front-man worth his salt should be. Together they're a genius of a pairing. It would have been interesting to see what would have happened had Brian lived. He was actually the original, driving force behind the Stones. Would Mick have usurped him? Keef?

  • They already had usurped him before he died because he was too fucked up to deliver anything creatively. Brian was the pretty-boy guitar player back in the beginning, but Mick and Keith wrote the songs.

  • Point taken.

And I believe you're accurate in your assessment of Brian's being 'too fucked-up' etc.. I DO recall Brian as always having been the one associated (more than the others)with drugs. After all-it IS what killed him. But, that said, I find it remarkable that anyone could have been more fucked-up (presuming you mean fucked-up on drugs) than Keith...and I mean that in the fondest of ways-I've fallen out of a coconut tree or two myself in my day.

  • Very accurate assessment of Mick and Keef...

Nice user name too! Damn that's a mouthful...

'72 tour deserves an official live album!

  • I know Mick is the deserved star of the show, but Keith has always been the heart of the Stones to me. The man is a legend in his own time.

  • where was it?

  • Been my favorite band since 72(6th grade) of course all tours after this were still great but I have to say that technically, visually and youthful energy will always for me make this the best stones- US tour(72)-no props or giant stages just kick ass rocknroll-just like- Zeppelin at that time. Thanks for the video!!

  • ladies and gentlemen the rolling stones...

  • Great version of a cool song...!

    Long live the Rolling Stones.

Hard to beat the vibe they had in '72, ain't it?!?!

  • Not really hard to beat.....just damn near impossible!
