hey guys i want to know if you have any tips on making my parents feel better about me joining....i want to join the marines next year when i graduate. i told my parents and they are not happy about it. i tryed asking on yahoo answers but everyone was a smart ass and said marines are stupid cuz they piss on dead people. so please guys if you have any ideas or want to share your experiance with me i would appreciate it. i know the choice is mine but i dont want to disrespect my parents. Thanks

@bbrain2 You are right. Toughest IS only an opinion. Non of the Armed Services are a walk in the park. All of the men and women of our military worked hard to get there and we can all be thankful for what they do.
@bbrain2 I think SERE and Pararescue has some crazy PT. I got a book with the workouts but only the airforce does every exercise till you have nothing left. no reps in there workouts.

my brother said his platoon wasnt allowed to use skud brushes cuz someone got hurt real real bad when he was sprinting down the deck with it and smashed his head open

Plus not to mention the physical on steroids that you get to make sure you can join, we know what we're getting ourselves into =)

Our company was the last to step foot out of old school 3rd BN, and our platoon broke, and took, initial drill and final drill, and set a new record for the CFT, 3034 best fucking platoon of parris island

I came in the Marine Corps at 137 Pounds. When I left OCS I was 185 pounds of Pure Muscle. When my Family ran off the Bleachers to Congraduate me they coulden't find me because of all the Muscle mass I took on. I said "Hey Mom!" She turned around in shock. The First words she said was "Batman!" (My nickname) "You look huge"! Said Mom. My dad was standing behind my Mom all laughing and said how I reminded him back in his days when he was only a Lcpl in 1982 hes 49 now.

I have been here for 3 weeks now. It is real hard but getting through it. My rooms are quite nice , with a view of the beach. We get to finish training at 3 PM and usually get some time to surf with Dave our DI , but we have to get back for 7PM , so not too many beers.
Many people join the usmc who cant swim. It is all about being confident in the water and it is not really about being a good swimmer. As long as you can float and move from point A to point B without spazzing out, then you can pass the swim qual. It is not hard at all.

lol, I had a platoon of 74, but we graduated with 59 original due to injuries. I think we had about 7 pick ups mostly from hotel hell and 3rd battalion

64 must be nice I had 108 and we graduated 99 I should of went in the winter. Note to future recruits wait until fall to go to boot camp you will avoid the masses and the black flag weather. I'm from up north I like 50 degree whether not 105. Semper Fi devil pups!!!
