I don't even know how they can tell it's a funnel cloud during the footage at around 1:30. . . I've seen several weird clouds like this during storms. . . but then you see the rotation at the top.

You can tell by being a TRAINED weather spotter. They are the ones who report stuff like this to the National Weather Service (if the police don't already) so they can issue the warning out to everyone.

The next day, storms hit in my home state (South Carolina). One hit in Greenwood. I live 28 miles from there and even though no tornadoes were reported in my area, the wind blew my fence down. On November 22, 1992, a tornado did hit my home county (Saluda).

I remember when The tornado sirens were going off in Miami. I was still in my dorm room listening to music and doing some homework. I poked my head out of the door to see if the hall was clear, and my RA said "Get your ass in the basement. The tornado sirens are going off!" Then nothing happened, and a whole 10 minutes of my life was wasted.

If this worked you'll find a video comment. This is my vantage point - from within Miami itself. As you can see this had a good forward extension SOUTHEAST from the core of the cell involved.

The Cell ID was M8 - using StormLab - and it passed VERY near where I was during a fish fry.

Safe hinting - we'll see how the rest of the season pans out.

It´s not art, it´s chasing weatherphenomenons with cameras and making a DVD of it. And we´re buying it, ´cause it´s so overwhelming to see a Tornado twisting, in the middle of nowhere. It´s just about money, without any sientific purpose. Please, don´t call that art.

These guys are collecting information about tornadoes to aid in early warning systems, they went and built a mobile beacon that you put in the path of a tornado, which collects wind speed, pressure and video. As well the whole process of predicting a possible tornado is an art, i would like to see an average person go and look at a weather feed and see where a possible tornado could form. They can't it takes several years of school to properly read one and make a prediction.

From what I'm gathering from news and the like it seems once the system got east of Oklahoma it really went ape crazy. You aren't too far from Pitcher where it was leveled by a bad tornado.

On a side note: Be safe there in OKC with those fires.. I know just to the east of you it was pretty bad. Its been so dry and breezy this year. I don't remember such a year before. Good luck to everybody who is OKC, Mena, and anywhere else this stuff hit.

Reed, Joel, you guys should have been up in middle TN today. In Murfreesboro, TN which is about 15 mins from my house, there were 2 confirmed tornadoes and lots of damage. It was hail I go to school in the town of miami and i watched this wall cloud go right over my dorm and droped alot of hail and though it was small hail it was alot.
