This song is definately one of my childhood too. I still remember my dad playing this in the car as we drove off to camping and we both sang along. One of my happiest memories with this song, and rightfully so. What a great piece.
i think XTC went out with the consistent high quality they always gave us; they lost something when they stopped touring, but their craftmanship remained -
Since when does Grammy define talent and or something that is even good. Check out 2/3 or those nominated and awarded. It's all just based on a series of blow jobs.
@Soundgasm haha, thanks for saying it first, soundgasm. i hate it when people talk about the grammies as if they are the gold standard - or any standard for that matter. they are not in any way a scale or barometer by which to judge any music, pop, rock, rap, whatever. fuck those elitist assholes for molding the collective consciousness of so many circle-drawers who unfortunately shape and direct the wave of popular music. wherever its at, it aint the grammys. its here with xtc.
@Soundgasm well a great blow job goes along way but i do not think i have ever seen one grammy winning performance, its mainly because i actually like music.
"I'd Like That" was in Me Myself & Irene. I'd always wondered who it was by! I always thought it sounded (the few seconds it was in the movie, anyway) so much like Paul! Great minds, huh?!
This is a classic, very beatlely, love it!!!

Grammy, Shmammy...
I never said he sucked.
They should give us all a break and put those Grammys to rest once and for all!
By the way... name a nomination that XTC received?
...I rest my case...

Wouldn't it be great if Paul could actually do something this good now?!
45spindle 3 years ago
Yeah I guess those grammy nominations for his last 2 Cds mean he sucks now.
JimR541 3 years ago
@45spindle I think Paul's "Chaos & Creation" CD is stellar. And "Only Mama Knows" from his latest sounds like killer "Junior's Farm"-era Wings.

This XTC song is so Paul McCartney, but that's not a criticism, just a recommendation. Really great, like a sunflower!
