  • John Zalar is my favorite carousel carver. His horses- and these are prime examples- are just so hauntingly beautiful. This carousel is a real treasure! Here's hoping it survives for another hundred years.

  • the band organ sounds like a mixture of good and bad but the music from 3:54-4:27 is awesome

  • I remember this from the mid sixties. WOW!!! WOW!!!. IT was so intimidating as a very small child! IT was magical! It was like a doorway into a magical world/ Several parts of the park were! What may seem like innocent fu to adults has strong spiritual effects on children!

  • I grew up in riverside and this is the only thing I would miss if I leave. So many childhood memories. I used to collect the gold rings so I could get free rides when I wanted, lol

  • this is the one right on the beach with the ice cream stand and the arcade right? If it is i love this place!

  • i heard from many people that this place is haunted

  • @MultiFunnypeople101 many people think it's haunted. The ballroom was burnt to the ground and they say many people died. Strange things have happened to employees such as the lights flickering and the msuic turning on unexpectedly. Also, people have reported seeing a woman in a bell-hooped skirt walking down by the water. Another tale i have heard is that a man killed his wife in 1989 and buried her in the sand. If you visit that spot you are said to get feeling of great cold and anger.

  • I heard the Ruth organ is in bad shape. Listening to it on this recent video, it is REALLY BAD! It needs a MAJOR tuning. This Ruth has a great upper register of horns. The bass horns sound awful. I know a man who has restored 2 other Ruth organs that sound fantastic now. Oh man it sounds BAD!!!

  • @koasterkav

I heard the organ sounds a bit better.

  • The organ sounds... The carousel is very nice, but at least the organ plays!

  • @Wurlitzer157 I heard they had a 153? 165's are rare.

  • o h my that organ needs much work pff it sounds bad

  • Ok, the carousel dates back to 1895. The Organ music that you hear is the original sound, you can't expect it to sound like a B3 Hammond.

  • @moderadonna LOL there are so much experts who can make this organ sound as new if you have an good sounding organ it will atrackt ppl in this shape it will scare em off

  • Thanks for the video, and it's a beautiful galloper. But it's almost criminal to let an organ, which has deteriorated to this condition, play in public.

  • The organ is playing terribly, needs a good tune and other work!

  • @petermackett37 i agree. in fact, whenever i listen to it, i have to play a sparta remix over the bad music whenever i see this. its actually pretty epic.

  • "Funiculi, Funicula" (Luigi Denza), "Let Me Call You Sweetheart" (Leo Friedman), "Springtime Polka" (traditional)

  • For my reference, the organ is playing songs # 2, 3, & 4 from Robert Stuhmer's Wurlitzer 165 Roll Number 6827.

  • Thank you, what a great piece of information.

  • @sirnim why did I hear crescent park had a wurliTzer 153?

  • @anglerfly Hmm... not sure... It's an old Ruth 38 classic that reads 165 rolls. sometimes people post slideshow videos of CPC but use generic Wurly music as the backing track, which might lead to misunderstandings...

  • @sirnim i saw a few of your videos of the band organ's songs. how many songs does this carousel have?

  • @MrPollitogatito

I have about 5 hours worth of recorded material from this particular Ruth organ in my iTunes, stuff from commercially-released volumes and stuff I recorded myself with a handheld recorder. Currently, I'd say there's about a couple dozen (give or take) Wurlitzer 165 Rolls in boxes stacked in the cabinet beneath the snare drum, and I know new rolls are added occasionally if the operator can place a winning bid for them on eBay.

  • @sirnim how many songs does each roll hold?

  • @MrPollitogatito usually 10, sometimes 12, or sometimes fewer than 10. This is a great website if you're interested: wurlitzer-rolls (dot) com
