  • this song makes my toe tap

  • Pity the mate of Queen Mantis,

    so content, but so headless.

  • I used to be in Clutch but then I took an arrow to the knee

  • @originalmetathought that doesn't even make sense. any member of clutch could fight for TWO DAYS NONSTOP WITH AN ARROW IN THE TESTICLES. therefore i question your validity of former band member.

  • @FornicateWithRaptors Well a Rabid black man can survive 10 whole days without KFC.

  • I'm still rocking my shirt from this tour 14 years ago...it's very sad that they come from montgomery county in Md and they don't get enough recognition (i.e. radio play) in their home state.

  • I remember when Neil Fallon didn't have a beard.

  • @nkogliaz I always assumed he was born with it! I may need to reevaluate my crush on him... (jeopardy music) OK, I've evaluated, still totally love him <3

  • Most underrated band ever!!!

  • where can a nigga get his dick farted on around here

  • @nutcupster13 Wh- What.

  • @nutcupster13

u know down where Sean lives? u go on his street, and make a left. keep going till u see an all brick house, u can't miss it. if u come across Dan's Corner Store you've gone too far. when u get to the brick house, knock on the yellow house to the right and ask for Mrs. Butterworth. if she still lives there, she'll tell u to go upstairs.

  • @nutcupster13 What. Why. What is this even. I don't. Oh... Oh nooo... What, nooo...

  • @nutcupster13 i think you're lost. The fetish lane is over there.

  • I first heard this song on their album when I picked it up in 1998, and it made my day when I did. Still love this song.

  • @sobeit That's nice.

  • hi peeps.

could it it be a Iommi production? hehe

  • @Scharbach77 what?

  • Dicovered this band TODAY. I'm 53 and so far I have saved ALL these songs to my new play list "Clutch" Shhhhhhh, in newly discovered music still like Rammstein best.

  • ya whoever disliked this has no sense of poetic-ism, or imagination and can eat a dick. and choke. then die. beautiful art these geniuses rock the fuckin house everytime they jam live. hallelujah.

  • so fucking poetic it brings a tear to my eye

  • this song isn't the same without a hidden track (1of3) at the end.

    *David Rose

    *Gifted & Talented

    *05

i got "05" with mine. there's 1:07 pause of silence then BAMB! scares the S#@% out of people who aren't expecting it lol.

    TyDK1eDzNnE

  • The best version of this song is off of "Full Fathom Five" live cd.

  • @ol96er I was at that show in Pittsburgh that it was recorded at and Im in the video. Clutch Rock

  • This is my favorite clutch album!

  • I need more slay bells, it's all about the slay bells : )

  • @janegirl138 *sleigh. Just saying.

  • @sobeita Snarky much? But before you get all internet tough it's a legit issue where words I don't daily use I can't spell and spell check can't tell the difference between them. Slay, sleigh or there, they're and their etc. Comes with the Autism, just saying.

  • @janegirl138 I wasn't being snarky, I made a simple correction. Your response was pretty rude, but I don't really care. You're a Clutch fan, it's all good.

  • This song reminds me of my 6 year old daughter. She's def a deadly dragonfly. Beautiful tho....

  • clutch makes me fucking prego dudes

  • THIS is rock n roll

  • these guys rock they look like they work at your local gas station!

  • Without a doubt, one of the most powerful riffs ever to be extracted from a guitar. The first time I heard this little ditty I had goose bumps. I'm sure this song was recorded on top of a mountain during a rolling thunderstorm.

I mean honestly, a song about a bug and they made it weigh a million tonnes. More toe tapping goodness from those clever clever fellas.

  • Check out the live version from Ram's Head, New Years Eve show. Pure rock awesomeness.

  • i am so hooked on this song...

  • SPRRRRING!!!!

If you just read the lyrics without hearing the music you would think this was some poem or something. Only Clutch.

  • Lawnmower guy thinks he is describing a nice scene when he is (scanning possibly)

  • Clutch is such an awesomely weird band.

  • Only Clutch could say ladybug, flowers, willows, swan, and more like this.

  • @Ghost3141265 and regeneration.

  • the mighty clutch. enough said.

  • Damn this is good

  • but i was born a dragonfly !! \m/

  • I love this fucking band, period!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Oh man...This song played & now i'm raping the repeat button, using my vacuum cleaner as a guitare and jumping around the living room as if a katydid had stung me.

  • HEY BABE, Sorry for trashing you then, I Got out tipped a couple of cows, drank like a fish, and Cranked Dragonfly and got over it.

Just remember why I am a Disfunctial, and I will never be as cool as Niel!!!

    I Know SILENCE!!!!!!, mENOUGH!!!!!!

  • Does anyone else think this song sorta has some familiar sounds to Deftones, Tool and a little bit of A Perfect Circle? Not that that's a bad thing. :D

  • I just found this group OMFG soooo kick ass.

  • Comment removed

  • At times, he sounds a little like Danny Elfman in Oingo Boingo.

  • that would be fat. but they r kick ass either way

  • Epic

  • Henchmen

  • i love the lyrics to there songs... some don't make much sense but i can't get enough of it

  • @bokkodo I know right. Circus Maximus is one of my favourite songs just because of the crazy lyrics about Manticores and Scandinavian doppelgängers.

  • None heavier.

  • @ninjascience The Melvins are pretty close...peace

  • HEAVY riff.

  • Clutch baby, clutch, gotta find more..........

  • Going to see them with BLS on oct 24 and hope they play this song

  • my friends band Puny Human warmed up for Clutch in NY 2 years ago drank beer after the show W/ neil and helped load their gear in a snowstorm

  • personally i think this is there best album

  • @EMMplussee oh yeah its up there. it has some of their best songs particularly this one and elephant riders too

  • SPRRRRRRRRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • winterkill this band is the most ass kickin' ist evr

  • Saw this song LIVE in toledo on the 6th.FUCKING AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i just got off a 10 1/2 hour work day putting on a roof and listened to this - not for the first time and certainly not the last. such a badass song. might be my favorite clutch song. at least for right the past couple weeks.

  • im like fucking addicted to this band

  • Mannn this stuff is history in the making, and if anyone has a problem with that then your all fuckers!!!

  • @Transmissional i'm a fucker cause i like to fuck but i agree 100 percent :)

  • in 50 years this song will still be as bad ass as it is now. and after all these years it still ranks up there with my all time fav's. tis the season for the rights of spring!

  • I hear a Black Sabbath and David Bowie influence

  • @pictureisup1 I hear Frank Zappa, but I'm old school.

  • @stoozn2it I always described them as "Sabbath fronted by Zappa"

Not a comprehensive description, but strangely adequate.

  • @2catgumbo GOD IS WATCHING, YOU ARE RIGHT, ZAPPA IS GOD. THE SABBATH COMES TODAY.

  • @pictureisup1 I hear a Robert Johnson influence in every single one of their songs.

  • \m/ KICK ASS!!!!!

  • You guys gotta get out more....really.

  • I hear just a little bit of Oingo Boingo in the verses... anyone else? ...Probably not. >_>

  • What a dumbass i am. I always thought "Katydid" was "Katy did" written wrong. But katydid is a bug of the family Tettigoniidae.

However, you can see that was intentional in the lyrics.

  • @leikeylosh Yea, Neil is a song writing genius.

  • But she was born a butterfly........

  • pointless observation..? hows that? you think the lyrics have no meaning? and if i figure out that a katy did is a bug i shouldn't comment on it... your comment has nothing to do with the song other than you thinking it's all music and not lyrics. you like the song or what? if not go comment on some song that you do like and appreciate... not some song that u have no interest in.

  • they could sing ....''a box full of frogs and cat flaps looking at me ''and it would still sound fkn mint

  • These guys NEVER run out of heavy riffs, or over-the-top lyrics. LOVE 'EM!

  • i <3 this song

  • "KATY DID NOTHING BUT SHIVER AND CRY"... i guess we learn somethen new everyday... "katy did" is an insect i'll be damned, look it up... either way did nothing but shiver and cry.... i was wondering who katy was.lol .hey! leave it to neil to twist and shed light on things.. besides musicaly..lyrics are chawk full of "puns" and "wonder"

  • no doubt one of the greatest songs ever. his lyrics...god lol. BAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Shit this song is fuckin awesome, I think my dick chunked a load and my head exploded, HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!

  • i believe Clutch is an acquired taste..like moonshine to wine.....you just keep wanting more!

  • EZLNbrother sounds like a douche.. 11 years drumming.. you are still a baby.... jazz drummers are good.. if good is just banging of different time signatures. Clutch has all the elements that make them an enjoyable live band. Originality being the biggest.

  • @ronjenpaisley you don't know shit about drumming obviously because jazz drummers are the most skilled. Gaster is badass tho

  • @ronjenpaisley way to be a prick for no reason. lol

  • and gaster's a damn good drummer in my opinion

  • phENOMAL BAND... try and hit those bass riffs such as soapmakers, paul is an amazing drunner, saw them in illinois a year ago, and paul played with nithing but a simple kit.... mindblowing.... tims amazing guitar leads throw me through a loop mevery time...

  • most underrated band of the century, this guyz rock, and all the poserz who follow clutch becoz u heard em in a damn game, go stuff urselfs...these guys as been around since the 90's geek farts...

  • Am I missing something awesome about this? Seriously, enlighten me.

  • was your volume up?

  • nope, no, nothing, nothing at all, no sr...

    more clutch for me >:D

  • Check out the vid of them playing this at the Ram's Head Live.

    There's some enlightenment for ya.

  • I was being serious, I was really seeking some kind of symbolism or something I was missing. I can dig the poetry of Clutch's lyrics, I suppose, but I can't get into the instrumentals. Clearly I just have poor taste, hm?

  • Dan Maines and Jean Paul Gaster.

I play bass and while it may not be fancy, clutch's riffs are by all intents and purposes, awesome to play. JP Gaster doesn't need a double bass pedal on his drumit, which is something I don't like playing alongside. Most drummers just use double bass pedals to show off how fast they can play, they don't just throw them into rhythms at will like Keith Moon.

Clutch is a band with a Rhythm Guitarist and Lead Bassist like The Who.

    Search "Swollen Goat"

  • As a drummer myself, a rudimental drummer at that, I am well aware of how poorly most drummers play. That said, I am also not blown away by Gaster, not that he's bad, just that I didn't have my mind blown. I'm trying to find someone to blow my mind. I don't know much about bass, so I'll have to take your word for it. Sorry man, I'm just not feelin' Clutch, but I respect your right to enjoy whatever music you like.

  • I understand what you're saying, but you're not going to get a good feel for the music through youtube. Check out "The Yeti", if that doesn't do it for you, Clutch just aint your thing, nothing wrong with that.

  • lame man. a good rock band isnt based on how badass their drummer is. ive been a drummer for about 11 years myself. "rudimental" too if you wanna put it that way. not that every drummer that even knows halfway what he's doing shouldnt be considered rudimental. if you're looking for drummers to "blow your mind" they've been around for decades. in my opinion, jazz drummers have the most skill. check out Gene Krupa

  • Go see them.. it will change your mind

  • "I was told a story while I warned them of the sky"

I love the extra track that follows this ("05"). But it's not on youtube :(

  • This song is mindblowing when they play it live

  • Did Clutch write these lyrics? because they are AWESOME, like some heavily paraphrased old southern poem by Twain or something set to the greatest rock of time.

  • Yeah, man - it's pure Clutch.

  • clutch rules

  • Greatest musicians of all time

hendrix aint got shiiitiiiiiiit on this

  • You fuckin' know it.

  • whatever. ...but if hendrix and clutch got together....i'd pay 50$ easy on that album.

  • i think they kind of sound like Rage against the Machine. except this band is way the fuck better

  • @fullsixx only if it was on vinyl.... but hellz yea.

  • @fullsixx if hendrix and clutch got together, the world would end from the pure rock fury

  • @fullsixx even if they only did one song i would still buy it

  • cross pollination by the legs of bees in spring... is a beautiful thing...

  • this song is so groovvyyy.... and crunchy if ya know what i mean..

  • cruchy is definately the word.

  • Who ever thinks Clutch rocks is sooooooooooooo right I think Clutch ROCKS!

  • I saw them live a couple days ago and it was amazing!!!

  • OOOOOHHHH, my favourite Hydro Song...

  • This is MY stoner song. Anyone who is high right now and can picture themselves riding on the back of a dragonfly flying through the grass like on Honey I Shrunk the Kids and are looking left and right while on the dragonfly looking at the bugs doing whatever it is Neil Fallon is saying they are doing...Well fuck you are awesome. Mmmmm Clutch

  • Im high and this song makes me think I have the body of a crab and the head of a social worker actually helping people..Wow am I high

  • that is some funny asss shit man!!

  • dude! u r fuckin right! damn cool song ever in stone time! fuck ye ! peace

  • i just missed they they played the house of blues in Dallas last night! but im fuckin broke!!!love clutch

  • awesome stuff!

  • MASTERPIECE.

  • finally got to see them it was fuckin sweet

  • the greatest rock n roll band ever hands down!!!!

  • @emcmw dude your so fucking right ive listend to boutt 3 songs first electric worry then after hearing that im hooked they kick ass

  • in the pond, crept a slimey thing

  • what is the name of the hidden track? not "gifted and talented", but the other one on the 12:01 version?

  • There's three hidden tracks in the U.S. releases of The Elephant Riders, but only one is on each CD. Completely random as to which you'll get. Gifted and Talented, 05, and David Rose. My personal copy has 05.

  • david rose,

  • thank you. i have the "gifted and talented" and "david rose" versions, but have not heard "05".

  • Id love to see Clutch W Black label i think that show would melt faces...

  • i have loved this disc for 10 years....this year it hit me - this may be the BEST cut on the album.....guys CHECK the 8 min. make of this tune - there is a HIDDEN track.......!!!!??? it goes for another 3-4 mins - great tune as well.....!!! check it.....i found it a few months ago

  • There's three different hidden songs. There are three different "The Elephant Riders" albums. Each one are the same except the hidden track. The three hidden tracks are: "David Rose", "Gifted and Talented", and "05".

  • i hide my tracks, they're on my arms though not recorded on plastic. im creative too, special as my mom says, the bitch.

  • i dunno which 1 i got but i'm so hoping it's GAT!

  • totally agree with rob wow

  • My new favorite song. What else is there to say.

  • Actually ive heard clutch referred to as "stoner rock" quite a few times, and i believe it!

  • This probably my top fav. album of all time

  • im 43 and its probly the best or 2nd, etc...maybe pink floyd animals or kyuss is better....maybe not

  • That whole album is MindBlowing!

  • Pity the mate of Queen Mantis,

    so content, but so headless.

Katydid nothing but shiver and cry,

    as did the dragonfly.
