  • im downloading unity as we speak. i intend to start some level of game design 'spite being 15 so i can get some experience. any tips for a novice in the scene?

    -btw this is absolutly amazing!

  • @coolL9457 thanks for your comment. You must learn the basics first and the best way to do it, is making some basics tutorials from the unity3d site (into support and then resources) and later you could check the unity3d projects that are included into unity, to understand how they work and when you made all this, you will be ready to make your own video game. Good Luck and keep learning!!!

  • The graphics are awesome, how did you get this realism into unity3d?

  • @RamonFRT well the overall realism was obtained into 3ds max with mental ray. Later the light and materials were baked into the textures and then I have exported into untiy3d. so Unity isn´t handle a lot of work because all the lights were "printed" into the materials, so I only need a couple of "Fill" lights to complement the overall look. Thanks for your coment.

  • cool dude! you should make maps for mmorpgs, rpgs, or fps or something. love it.

  • @thisisjasperTV Thanks for your comment. Hope I could be a part of a game company, so I could make levels, characters or something like that. :)

  • This is a really good work! Unity rocks! And it is so easy to use, and has great features!

  • @RatmanXX yea Unity is a great tool, there are a lot of people around the world making cool games and Apps with this Engine because is very easy to use and very powerfull.

  • Juan Camilo, me ha encantado el vídeo de demostración que has presentado. Me gustarís saber si has hecho alguna prueba a esa calidad para plataformas Android o iPad-pPhone. Gracias,

  • Dude you are my god damn idle. your taste is exactly mine but you can create an end result way better than me. And i love to see another person who pays close attention to the subtle significances of light, not many people use light as a major design tool like me and you, love it man

  • @IsaraiLee thanks for your comments. And yes, in this project I spent a lot of time in the light and texture details, because this was a technical test with no pressure from a client or deadline time. I hope all the projects could be approached like this one, when matters more the final quality against the time spent. Btw, this project was done in three weeks more less, from another 3d project I made long time ago. Thanks again for your comment and hope I could see one of your works.

  • how is it a trap!!!!

  • @Maxamastrenquillious It is horrible. The tools they give you to work on making objects are horribly coded and unstable. I cannot in good faith let anyone make the same mistake I did. Go with Unity 3D so much more feature rich and stable.

  • i use to use this but my new pc won't allow it, so i might be getting a program called Torque 3D

  • @Maxamastrenquillious don't.. torque is a trap.. I swapped from it to Unity.

  • @AethyrPrime

i do not know what you mean!!!!!

    Plz Reply

  • really awesome job, how long did this take you to make?

  • @CALVINATOR97 Thanks for comment, well this was a Three parts project. First part was the 3d modeling, the layout distribution, materials, lightning (all inside 3dsmax), this stage took more less 1 week. The second Stage, was the polygon reduction, optimization, baking lighting and then import all inside unity3D. This stage took more less another week and last the code part, scripting and interactivity, this was a couple of days looking around the internet and studing a lot :) that´s all.

  • Great work. Knowing that was made using the 2.6 version, without the integrated lightmmaping tool, the result is amazing. You're a Pro.

MIs felicitaciones, acojonante lo bien que te ha quedado.

  • @MrJocyf Thanks for comment, this was a great oportunity to show what Unity3D could do those days, but this industry advance too fast and some parts of the workflow needed to make this video are useless now, because Unity has now lightmaps, automatic uvs and a lot of new tools that make things better and easier. Best regards, Juan Camilo Alcaraz.

  • are you a professional game designer

  • are you professional game designer

  • @zacolique1 first of all, Hi and thanks for comment. I am an experienced 3d User (3d Generalist) and I have a lot of knowledge about Game Desing, but here in my coutry (Colombia) there isn´t enough companies to gain experience or to work with, so all that I have learned was from internet and self taught.

  • Hi! I'm interested in doing some archviz in Unity, but I'm not a 3d artist, I'm a programmer. I was thinking of delegating the modeling work to a friend who has done some 3D. When you say that all the information is baked in 3ds max, what do you mean by that? Thanks for the reply!

  • @SoulStriderX Hi, when I said all was baked from 3ds max is because this demo was done long time ago and the Unity lightning quality those days aren´t so good, that´s why I made all the model, materiales and lightning inside 3ds max and render all this information into a texture for each object into the scene, this technique is time consuming but It allow to retain a good quality no matter wich capabilities the engine has. Today I like to use the unity ligths and its lightmaps. good luck.

  • nice but UDK has better lighting

  • @BrooklynNYC777 yea I know. UDK is a better engine (was made for AAA games) but Unity has a lot of features and a lot of potential. thanks for your comment.

  • @alzarac3d i agree with you............. you should create a tutorial on how you did this

    .

  • This is quiet impressive, were all the textures including furniture baked in max and re-imported in unity as lightmapping? I'm trying to achieve this result but having hard time with baking to show up in unity...

  • @artmak5 the procedure I used here was to bake all the information in 3ds max ( not only the lightmap), I mean, I was baked the complete map inside 3ds max to achieve this result, later I only create unity3d materials with the map I have baked in the diffuse and normla bumps. This file is huge because each element need a baked texture on it. Btw, this was done with the unity 2.6 free version so there isn´t a way to calculate lightmaps inside unity but todays Unity3.4 has a great tools to do it.

  • how made you this

  • @TheWeiseman1 it Is not a hard task, you must have a lot of patience and you need 3ds max or other 3d app and unity 3d free version. All that you can see here was done in 3ds max and later I have imported it into unity3d and I make the interactivity. The lighting quality was done inside 3ds max but unity3d has a good lighting tools and you can achieve a good results with the free version. Thanks for your comment.

  • Wow, I can't believe that Unity3D can handle these style of graphics. But Unity3D runs slow in my PC. I bought my PC in 2005.

  • @Sphynxinator wooaw your pc is quite old but I think you could do cool things if you have the pacience and the skill, later you can upgrade your pc and make things more professionals. thanks for your comment.

  • @alzarac3d Thanks for your reply. ^_^ Now, I will no more use Unity3D. :D I will improve my drawing and modelling skills, then when I bought new PC, I will use UDK or CryEngine. :D

  • @Sphynxinator congrats!! UDK and Cry Engine are the best engines out there, I want to try those engines as soon as possible, because those are AAA. Good luck and when you have something to share, I will be pleased to see how far did you go with those High end Engines.

  • @alzarac3d Oh, thank you so much. There are so long way now. Now just I have modelled 2 Digimons. :D My PC gets slow when I trying to study some 3DS MAX lessons. :( (For example, I can't learn animating my meshes because when I trying to add bones, PC slows down. So tragic. :(((

  • @alzarac3d i wish unity 3d had UDK lighting....... man that would be the shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhht. it looks like this person needs some vray texture maps in this model to make it look better

  • the mirror is fake reflection =(

  • @Youriberg that's true, the problem was that the Unity 3d free version doesn´t allowed a true reflection, but the pro version, certainly do.

  • amazing

  • @Xilefnergllah thanks for your comment.

  • imagine this> /watch?v=YRMltf04rhs, particle physics for fluids and the graphics from this video

    its the paradise of gaming

  • @11myedu thanks for your comment, those particle physics effects looks very good and you are right this will be a nice project to make a test with those particle physics and a better graphics.

  • Designers would go nuts over a program like this.

  • @10chadjordan01 thanks for your comment, this was done like a demo, but the main intention was this. Show to the designers, that they can be more creative and they can use applications like this in their marketing strategies. visit my site if you like to play around in to the Interactive application.

  • @alzarac3d You should work a bit more on the water

  • THATS FUCKIN AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!

  • you can show client what there house will look like before it was even built >.>

  • Very nice job, nice lighting.

  • @Bode0123456789 thanks for your comment. This was done a year ago and still looking good enought. This demo, doen´t use the Unity3D beast lightmaps (Unity3) because this was done with the Unity 2.6 free version. All that you see here where baked directly form 3ds max and Mental Ray. Hope you like it. and visit my site to play with the interactive Demo.

  • The mirror show somethin else... but nice

  • @HofWasHere ha,ha,a you are right, the mirror only reflect a cubemap (a precalculated image) so when I change the wall colors, the reflection doesn´t change.. ha,ha.... Thanks for your comment. btw Unity3D can´t create a realtime reflections in the free version..

  • too bad mirrors dont work in unity. unless you use render textures of coarse...

  • @ShayTheMon I think the Unity Pro could do a better job with the water shader or something similar I had heard, but this demo was done a year ago with the free unity 2.6 version, so my only choice was to create a cubemap. Thanks for your comment.

  • Why is this: 2:10 case is in mid-air? btw. Really nice project :)+

  • @rachetandclank3 thanks for your comment, the bookcase was designed by an interior decorator. She tell me, the bookcase could be attached to the wall and I believed her. ha,ha,a.. the client likes a lot this design, so that´s why. Thanks again for your comment.

  • @alzarac3d Hmmm, maybe she's right :) It's easier to clean up under this case, but walls must to be very strong for that (and that case too)

btw. How much does the average home takes to do? What program do you use? Is Autodesk Maya good for it?

  • @MrPacific101 thanks for your comment. This was done one year ago, but until today still looking good... maybe in a couple of years this looks to cartoonish or to awfull, but meanwhile I appreciate the good comments. Regards

  • Great demo. I just have one thing to point out. If you can only play the demo in your webpage, then why keep the GUITexture that has your email address? Just seems kinda redundant.

  • @dnightwalker you are right, but when I had uploaded this video into youtube, (the past year) I didn´t have a webpage, so I needed to publish some contact info in to the video, also, this demo was distributed to a group of clients like an stand alone project, to be played on their PCs, so I need to put some contact info for them. Thanks for your comment and hope you like.

  • @alzarac3d I ment that I went in to your website and played the demo and I notice that. I recomend that you take care of that for the webpage demo since it tends to saturate the screen.

  • Hi there, I am a Maya/Unity user, and I'm wondering how you managed to get around the lightmapping errors, such as occlusion in corners, bleeding through walls etc. The mapping in your scene looks very good! Also what poly count are you dealing with? Seems quite fast too.

    Cheers

  • @kinetiknz thanks for your comment, about how to deal with the oclussion and the lightmaps, I have to tell you, than all the illumination was done inside 3ds max and later baked into the texture. That´s means that there aren´t lightmaps, only diffuses textures with all the data applied on it like light, material and shadows. This method works good enough for this demo, but I can´t make a lighting change if the client wants, so this method has some disadvantages too.

  • @kinetiknz Hi again, thanks for the reply. After looking around alot, it seems most users that have really high quality light mapping are baking from their 3d app. I might try it out, I am wondering though, how are you applying the backed lightmapping over the diffuse textures? I can't figure out how to apply them the same way beast does, without using Beast.

    Thanks for any answers!

  • Great job! Looks awesome. But I found my way out of the house too. Went down to the docks and met a couple people and walked on water! lol

  • if the sims looked like this it would be awesome

  • @HaaaaZee Can you get out the room?? where was the bug? can you tell me to test again. Thanks for your comment.

  • Nice

  • This is very cool, but its more for interior design than actual architecture

  • @drumwolf22 thanks for your comment. what you had says is truth. this demo is more oriented for interior designers than architecture, but I think, this interactive product could be a great product for the real state market. This month I have an offer to develop an entire exterior project (a big building), if the client accept my quotation I will post the final result and I will try to make a complete tutorial for it.

  • @alzarac3d That would be very cool to see an exterior project! I can see the real world application, especially for a client to be able to visualise interior and exterior space.

  • Hi, did you find any tutorials for this walk-through? I mean only the Unity 3D part and not the modeling part. I'm a beginner and not sure where to begin to do a walk-through like yours in unity 3D. Any tips? Thanks.

  • @fernandesfran Hi, I recomend you this tutorial. I had used it to make this Demo. I can´t put the link, but you can find it inside the Unity3d dot com / support / resources / tutorials / fpstutorial dot h.t.m.l

  • @alzarac3d Thank You. Hope you can create some tutorials though, your demo is just awesome.

  • i love your video ... can u post a link for this demo or some 3ds max design ?? thankx

  • @aliwith888 thanks for your comment, you can visit the link in the commentaries section. This link guide you to my site, where you can move around the apartment and see how it works. hope you like it.

  • @ScrapeNow I didn't use it

  • did you use Lightup plugin for sketchup?

  • @ScrapeNow lolwut, it's in unity not sketchup o_O.

  • @Godslayerify this is quite amazing. it looks photo realistic....like real life.

  • @ScrapeNow thanks for your comment. did you visited the interactive demo on my website?

  • @alzarac3d yes I have. I was quite blown away.

  • You realise this that you have done is incredible yes? I mean even to do this in unity like i thought there was like a graphic limit for the developed file but umm this looks amazing.

  • @MonakoBoy thanks for your comment. Like I said to @drixtc the photorealistic quality on this project is based exclusively in the lighting and materials from 3ds max. All you see in this file was exported from 3ds max, that´s why Unity3D doesn´t need to do anything, only load the textures and the Objs. This process is time consuming for the artist, because he must do all the work manually, but the results are good and you don´t have to use it a powerfull videocard to move around. Look my site.

  • @alzarac3d Yes, i understand that it is made in 3ds max. I model in 3ds max myself but im just not that advanced to do something as beattifull as this :) I subscribed.

  • how can you do this so photorealstic this realy realy good

  • @drixtc thanks for your comment. This video was done like a year ago. I have used Unity 2.6 free version and all the photorealistic lighting and materials, were done inside 3ds max and later exported like lightmaps into the textures. That´s why the engine doesn´t have to calculate anything at all, only the maps applied to the objects. This baking process was very slow, but the result is quite good and less resource consuming. Did you visit my website to test this demo inside your browser?

  • @alzarac3d jehh i try it out it was awsome but it mutch easyer now in unity 3d to bake texures just make the objects static and bake them some ef the model was not fantastic like the stove. but all the other objetcs like the was chairs the tv was realy photorealestic and im just wondering what texure do you use how do you do that. nice work mate :)

  • @drixtc thanks for your comment. Like you'd says, the process is easier now, but is time consuming. The materials that I had used for all the objects inside the apartment were MRArch&Design materials (that´s why there look so nice). The main problem in the baking process (Like happened in the stove) was that I had to keep all the details in the less texture space, for example, the stove only could used a small part and that´s why it looks so noisy (Pixelated)

  • damn i reaplay to the wrong person i think :S

  • wow! rly???

how much time do u pass to make this??? You really should go in a video team or somehing :D

  • @BurnedVirus ha,ha, God hear you!! The truth is, I have done this, eigth months ago, and I was testing my skills using a past project that I have developed (Architectural visualization for a client). The time I have spent, was more less two weeks because I owned a lot of work done, so, the only that I have made was an adaptation to the engine and bake all the materials, lighting, etc to the model, then export the model to Unity3d and begin the interactivity stage.

  • @BurnedVirus by the way, You can visit my site and play a while inside the studio apartment. You will find the link over the video and you must have installed the Unity3d web player to play. (You can download from the unity3d site or You will find a link inside my site. After installing the Unityweb player you must close your browser and when you open again, you will have installed and can run the application. Hope you enjoy it.

  • @alzarac3d ok Thx :D

  • hey how did you make the texture bake

  • @tiko257 hi, I am using 3ds max render to texture to bake the ligthing and reflections...

  • @InfiniteUnity3D ha,ha,.. you are welcome... this apartment is based on a real apartment here in my city (Medellin-Colombia), but, the original placement is in middle of the city, so I decided to make an extreme makeover on it. (by the way, I am learning Unity3D with this exercise so I am practicing some of the terrain tools). Thanks for you comment.

  • very nice... I see, cool,..... OMG THE WATER IS HIDEOUS!!!

  • @LadrayTheDruid thanks for your comment. hope you like it.

  • thias is soo cool

  • @ElectricPulze thanks for your comment. hope you like it.
