  • Im startin to get into sculpting.. Can u give me sone pointers?? Skaggully@aim.com

  • i hear art, i see art! i like it! btw, what was the real time making the face? i like Beethoven music. greetings :)

  • @mariodelbarco I'm going to guess it took about 1 to 2 hours judging by the light let in through the blinds and how much it moves...

  • great job!

  • Thanks for this vidio. Im going to start sculpting this term and this has helped .

  • I enjoyed watching, not only for your talent, but your sense of humor and playfulness. I've just returned to claying around after not touching it for 4 years. Thanks for sharing in such a unique way!

  • thats great! Thanks for answering me so quickly! I really appreciate it! I will look at porcelain clay. Another quick question. Can you colour clay? Food dyes? Or paint them?

  • @GirlArmy21 well, this is a bit tougher to answer because polymer clay is an oil based clay but if painted with oil clay after it's baked it will start to "melt" and become sticky...you can paint it with acrylic paint once baked but it can start cracking. The best paint to use on polymer clay is Genesis paint which is an oil paint that you bake to set-and they are pretty expensive and hard to find. You can color unbaked poly clay with powder pigments(like pearlex) or water soluble oil paint.

  • @GirlArmy21 cont. you can also color the poly clay with alcohol inks for a "water color" effect, you just mix them into the unbaked clay. There is a lot of info on the web for polymer clay (which is where I found most of this out myself). As for the "porcelain" clay, I know you can color it by mixing with acrylic paints, not sure about food dyes but I don't know why not since food dyes are water based, but porcelain clay dries to a translucent finish so the color will change some once dry.

  • awesome video...interesting to watch...just did my first 3 heads.....love working with clay....was learning this for sugarpaste....but like clay better...now looking at which clay to use to "bake" heads...so they can be permanent figurines. Can you help me with this question?

  • @GirlArmy21 I use polymer clay which is an oil based clay that you bake in your home oven to harden it. There are several brands, most common are Premo, Sculpy III, Fimo, and Super sculpy. You can also find polymer clay made specifically for doll making Puppin Fimo, Cernit, Living doll, and Prosculpt. Then there is Jewelry clay which I haven't had much experience with called Pardo. There are also permanent clays similar to sugar paste in the that they air dry ie-paperclay, porcelain clay etc

  • @GirlArmy21 one more thing...you can make your own porcelain clay using cornstarch and white (pva) glue and a few other ingredients...google or youtube "porcelain clay" and you will find quite a few different recipes. I have not had very much experience with kiln (baked) clays so can't help much with those. Thanks for watching...hope this helps.

  • Few artists allow us to look over their shoulders. It's great to see that it's an opportunity and also generous. Congratulations!!

  • This would be great if it was close enough to see. ;-)

  • Amazing work and very inspiring, thank you.

  • WOW! Thanks for making the video! You are very talented!

  • wont your hand's fingerprints stay on the head?

  • i didnt nessesarily want to watch this but then it said something about the big fairies eyes and i wass like "MUST WATCH!!!!"

  • aaawweeeesssoooommmeeeeee :)

  • i wish you would have got in closer to see the detail of the work

  • @mytestpage unfortunately, my camera blurs if I get it to much closer, the camera is in reality made for still photos with the option of video. I've actually had more than one person mention how hard it is to see detail.

  • haha it's a naked girl in the top right corner

  • yep, it was a work in progress...I had several heads and bodies hanging around my craft area when this video was made...I finished that one and sold it :)

  • @christyj1977 how much did u sell it for? xx

  • @DollyUpretty I did not sell this one, but when I was selling others on Ebay the winning bid would be anywhere from 60 to 100$

  • @christyj1977 oh thats good :) i'm trying my hardest to make a clay fairy but it just keeps going wrong :( .. i'm desperate to make one i love though .. love this video its really helpful

  • Ahh my congratulations nice work!

  • Thanks for the tips!

Never did I do with clay but with a biscuit dough.

You know tell me if clay is easier?

    Bjuss ..

  • I have never been able to make a proper biscuit dough. However, I have heard that there is shrinkage with dough, whereas polymer clay does not shrink. I have heard also that dough is much stronger after drying than clay is after baking (especially in thin pieces such as flower petals). You would not want to use your dough tools on polymer clay if they are made from plastic-the plasticizers in the clay will "melt" the tools over time.

  • Hello I am from Brazil and have never seen these tools, I wonder if you have someone here who can make me a donation would be very grateful.

  • alot of the tools are basic, such as finger nail tools, and needles, and razor blades. The main tool I use to sculpt you can get from Kemper tool which has an online store. The only other tools are dental tools and stylus (embossing tool) which I purchased online(ebay) and in a hobby store.

  • I wish I could see what you were doing to the face.

  • @angryjalapeno That's just what I was thinking. Beautiful music and the artist obviously is very talented- perhaps the video was just what the title says it is and that is all- not a tutorial, but the process of sculpting a face sped up really fast. Twinessence has some excellent tutorials where every detail can be seen as she sculpts the face- and it is in real time. If you are looking for polymer clay tutorials for face sculpting, I suggest her site. ,

  • Thank you for posting this. It was entertaining and enlightening. You have a real talent for these figures.

  • How is it tha tyour clay looks so soft> Mine is really tough, I find it too hard to work with!

  • I mix different brands of clay, this mix I believe is Super Sculpy, Cernit, and Premo- Cernit is EXTREMELY soft when it gets warm. You may have a dryer clay-if it is dry and crumbly try adding a couple drops of mineral oil or baby oil and mix it very well-it only takes a drop or two. Sometimes just conditioning it helps(kneading it like bread dough)..hope this helped.

  • I will try that now thank you, I am watching your tutorial as I do this. Mine is Fimo soft but it is not soft at all! It hurts my fingers and I'm having trouble making a head. I will try baby oil but are you sure this will not effect the cooking process? Thnk you x

  • oh yeah, i've had some of my clay get really hard. I just roll and knead it until it gets squishy again

  • michals is the place to gooooo

  • :) funny girl you are. the music and the text is entertaining.

  • great job love it 5 stars!

  • where can i find all the equipment for this is always wanted to do it just need to get equipment :(

  • I've collected tools for some time..alot from online websites like polymerclayexpress(dot)com. From hobby stores such as Joann's or Michaels or the Hobby Lobby. The clay can be found in hobby stores, the art clay at places like artdolls(dot)com or ebay. Walmart has a small supply where I live. I know that some of the other clay artists were putting together starter kits on Ebay but that was some time ago. Hope this helped some.

  • Interesting to watch. It would be nice to have a closer view. Thanks for posting.

  • That was amazing! I'd love to see a real time close up version of lips. That's always been my weak spot. :-)

  • its easy to watch but hard to do...huhuhuhuhuh
