so i asked my friend who is studying in japan and 'ohayo' (hay for short) is like a way of saying ok (would be the bes translation) it doesnt directly translate but when your talking to someone its a way to keep encouraging them to talk

Ohayo or Ohayo gozaimasu means good morning in Japanese and saying "Hai" in japanese means that you are listening and paying attention to what the other person is saying. Which is very polite I think.
