  • actually, there is a kit for installing a 5.0 v8 into the focus that's supposed to use most of the stock components (don't know if its suggested though). The kit runs at about 20 grand but that should be easy money once you become a doctor.

    a 2.0 zetec is completely capable of 350-400hp with a turbo setup. i think you need to change the rods camshaft and some other internals otherwise the rods snap and break out of the block. a friend of mine swapped a stock eg civic with a 2.0 because wanted more power of of a 4cyl, the result was him smoking alot of v6s and all he did was add a better intake manifold, headers and ram air.

    The WRC focus pushes about 300-350 out of the same engine i believe. turbos are crazy

    And for all you idiots 400hp is easily attainable if you put in forged pistons, rods, etc and boost it higher to ~25psi with stock cams. You might even be able to hit 400 with it at 15, who knows, but I'm just going off a dyno I saw on the FSWerks.com site.

  • @Jlizel Easy as in for the car... Of course it's fucking hard to rebuild an engine. I said "easy" because the dyno sheet listed 9:1 pistons and forged rods at 26psi. It wasn't even cammed and had the stock cylinder head. I'm assuming you could get some more with those. I'm not on youtube to argue with anyone, and I certainly don't need to prove to you whether I've worked on my car or not. Take a look at my channel to see my car and what I've done to it, but leave your asshole comments at home

Because I'm in medical school I don't have the money to build my engine or I'd go 9:1, forged, turbo (and do it all myself, thank you)-- considering the whole doctor thing means I'm pretty smart and cars are pretty much big Lego sets. Go back to McDonalds and your Civic forums.

  • @Eklipse113 Usually those who tout their credentials are the dumbest of them all. Your statement of "9:1, forged, turbo" told me that you really don't know much about internal combustion engines because each of those terms are very relative and not specific.

  • @347Ranchero You've raised a legitimate concern. I was referring to 9:1 compression ratio pistons and full forged aluminum internals (rods etc) which allows you to boost higher psi w/o blowing the motor. The turbo kit that I prefer is the FSWerks turbo kit, since only a few are on the market (check out their site). I'd also like to cam the car but the market is a bit scant- this is where my knowledge also runs thin. I don't know the best degree specs to use. I'm sorry that this is only my hobby.

  • @Eklipse113 I know what you were referring to, I was merely referring to your statement being rudimentary. However, you just stated that you want an aluminum crankshaft (not sure they even make this for a focus, but if they do, it's a complete waste) and aluminum rods (really only for racing applications). You mentioned a turbo, but no aftermarket cylinder heads or porting which is really more important than adding more boost.

  • @Eklipse113 Also, if you don't know anything about camshafts, you probably should start learning. It really is one of the most key components to building an engine, and really is the brains of the mechanical portion of it. Don't worry, this is only my hobby too. I am a computer nerd by trade. Just please don't waive around your credentials like you own the place, because nobody cares if you're a doctor. Personally, I think they get paid too much.

    Thats called a blow off valve. Or a wastegate, it releases extra pressure in the turbo systems pipe housing so their is no back pressure.

  • @jakepwnzz there is a difference silly goose, blow off valve creates a wooosh sound a wastegate is quiet. blow off releases intake piping pressure in between shifts and when you let off the gas. wastegate is so the turbo does not over boost. :) thank you very mucho

  • @brannon86svo Wastegates also make noises. Any kind of immediate pressure drop will create a noise, through whatever it is released. Some Wastegates dump into the exhaust at the same place as the turbo outlet, some dump into the exhaust, like 18 inches down stream, and some release right into the atmosphere. They do not make the same sound as a blow off valve, it's louder, raspier and less glamorous, a blowoff valve bleeds off pressure before the compressor side after the turbo before the TB.

  • @blackdessertrose dude you dont burn out in sixth, unless you changed the gears or somthin i had 180 at the wheels with AEM intake, tune by diablosport, magnaflow full* exhaust, stage 2 clutchmasters clutch 13lb flywheel msd powerpak with plugs and wires, i had an 02 with an 04 motor with 18k on it stiffer springs and lifters, i was hittn 7300 rpms and it took it all day long and i could BARELY pull the tires in 2 so you dont have to lie to be cool i love svt fs but with 330hp they dont pull 6th

  • That's funny how smartasses can tell the power by looking at the video. This car was prepared in Brazil, it did reach a bit more than 400hp, specs and real performance videos/pictures/comments populated the main Ford discussion boards for a while.

  • @Akiryum I don't like v8's they are big and heavy however I would rather buy a v8 than a ford 4cylinder or 5 cylinder lol v8 is what ford knows I don't trust other ford motors. On the other hand I own an 1800lb Nissan se-r that is gutted no a/c no p/s its a race car so I hate heavy cars I like light nimble good handling cars. I would never buy an EVO or WRX considering they weigh double what my car weighs and put out the same power. I do the same times on the road courses with proper suspension

FOR ME drive from one place to another with your car that had the engine power doubled in traffic is awesome. the duratec engine isnt bad. design by mazda used on volvos and mazdas 3 its a global project, also used by ultrafast caterams

  • @Akiryum Well I do have an Infiniti that I drive around to take out my girl and what not that's the perks of having 2 cars. Plus my race car has no insurance nor is street legal so it gets driven around on a trailer. I don't race on the drag strip its for the road course however I could most likely run low 11's or high 10's on slicks. The trailer is nice however since I don't have to worry about breaking when I race since I can just throw it back on the trailer BTW not never is a double negative

  • Could be 400hp but i doubt it. Focus are not lsd or posi to start with so with 230+ hp you can spin the tires switching into 3rd gear depending on how u shift and the tread on the tires. But 400hp im not sure unless you have a lsd transaxle and you spinning them like that into 3rd with brand new tires then maybe mid to high 300's. But 400hp you wouldve spun them the whole video.

  • I guess you didnt notice the European Buses and Trucks in this vid. Maybe they imported them for the video shoot. Or more likely this is a heavily modified RS which does have a quaife diff. I think your theory has some holes. Sounds to me like 25+ psi.  It also sounds like 75% tp. Hence the massive wheel spin. He is shifting at 5800. Not a full throttle pull and still sick.

    The focus turbo would be lucky to handle 10-12psi.

  • umm! the standard focus rs peaks boost at 16psi and holds about 14psi tuned standard turbo can handle 21/22psi fine thats what mines running

  • i doubt it, if that was the case it would be making about 300hp stock, which is not the case.

    Chassis is good for 400bhp i would personally stiffen it up with a cage and struts but the car itself is fine, as proven by reyland over here in the uk with the cosworth transplant, although that was RWD.
