That is exactly what they should have done, as it is not American, let alone constitutional, to exclude one group of people from having equal rights with the rest of the population. What matters regarding proposition 8 is if you are an American, and in this country, we are all given equal and unalienable rights to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness. Discrimination runs counter to these very rights, and Prop 8 would introduce discrimination into California. This is wrong, and this is dangerous. It's about being American, not black or gay.

battlecatproduction, the judicial branch voted prop 22 down because it was unconstitutional. That is exactly what they should have done, as it is not American, let alone constitutional, to exclude one group of people from having equal rights with the rest of the population. We have the courts to protect the Country from infringing on our most basic of constitutional rights, and there have been many faulty passed laws that have been overturned because of this, to the benefit of all of us.

Nice try. Nature meant for a man and a woman to reproduce and then raise their young. Nature didn't mean for a man and man or a woman and woman to do this. You CAN NOT dispute this. In some cases, nature fails, but those cases do not null the entire purpose of nature. If a straight couple can't reproduce, they can still raise a child who doesn't have a mother and father around. A gay couple can't do that. Sorry, two fathers or two mothers don't equal a mother and a father.

i agree that we should protect marriage between a man and a woman. homosexuals can still love each other, but marriage has ALWAYS been much much more than just about love. as this video points out, there are SERIOUS social costs if Prop 8 fails... to our REAL freedoms.

There was once a time when the relationship between a slave and his slave master was thought of as a form of "love" by the Christian Church in America. So glad to be past those days.
What people need from Christians is less judgment and more Christ-like compassion. And to be honest, that is not what I see from the bulk of "Christian" people. Most of what I do see is in fact hate. There are some Christians who truly show love to others, but I feel that is becoming rarer and rarer each day.

I was raised Christian. I still don't believe what you say. What I saw was a bunch of good-meaning people who were taught how to accept bigotry and fear the devil more than love their neighbor. It's so sad. I don't even really call myself "Christian" anymore, because that word now represents something similar to the KKKlan's understanding of it. I tell people that I'm a "follower of Jesus" so that they know that Jesus, and not hate-filled doctrine, is at the heart of my religious beliefs. So sad

I'm yes on 8, but I've got no hate. If 8 doesn't pass its the majority that will be descriminated against. My freedoms will be in danger. However, if it does pass nothing will change. Homosexuals will still have all the rights and benefits they have now- the same ones my husband and I enjoy. Either way it won't change how I feel about anyone. Love ya!

-most "real mariages" dont even last, they end in devorce, so why do people fight for a fallen institution, by letting gays marry you give life back to the love and length of mariage

I grew up as a member of the LDS church and was involved in cub scouts, little league, had a paper route, went camping, and was basically like all other boys, but... I happen to be gay. Unfortunately, I spent 20 years in fear of losing the love of my family because society taught me discrimination, ignorance & fear. Protect all children!
