  • so how do you record with it??

  • analog synthesizers should be used by real musicians only

  • nice iphone 4 review... i mean monotron rreview

  • Good vid, very informative

  • no midi in..... no funny !!

  • Yeah cut to the chase lol

  • tell europian ppl to not hate americans after seeing this.

  • korg, the kings of unusable machines - the kaossilator, the monotron, the mini-series, all great sounding, perfectly useless stuff for someone looking for equipment that is more than just a sideshow

  • iphone 4

  • i was like "when does it start?" until 1:39

  • Iphone or IPad didn't make real analog sound, that's the big difference.

  • pfffff... he has an iPad 1....

  • ow look at me with my mac gear T_T

  • @Intosia wats a mac gear?

  • Of course, Korg's got the greatest filters in the world. If you, however, don't want to carry the Monotron around, there are some alternatives, such as iPhone apps. I especially like Noise Boxx, which offers almost the same options as the Monotron!

  • Can you connect the monotron to your pc/mac?

  • Neil Diamond.

  • I want I want!

  • ''as you see it is very cool you can do fx with music and it's very fun to do hum and you get a lot of pĥone with that

  • I was expecting monotron review not the longest Apple commercial!

  • soo. You can only connect apple products to it? :D:D

  • fucking show pony!

  • let me just iphone 4 with my iphone 4, iphone 4, iphone 4, hey guys, check out this ipad with the iphone! IPHONE.

  • @MASTERCON12

Must...buy...effeminate electronics with fruit on it.....getting weaker.....must ride fixed gear biiike....ughngh.

  • we get it...you have an iphone 4

  • skip to 1:37 for the review

  • @SplurtySplurt so you can plug into the mic input, and combined with a nanopad record ..things?

  • @kanojo1969 Dude, just move along. You can have your opinion, but you won't be able to dictate what people post in these videos... THANKFULLY. If you can do it better, then show us. If you know the "proper" way to make a video then do it & be done with it. Otherwise, you haven't made your point.

  • could i plug this in a normal yamaha keyboard use the the keyboard keys and then use the monotron for the tone features etc

  • jesus get on with it already

  • (On a completely unrelated note) I don't know if anyone has said this before, but you really sound like David Byrne.

  • its like a stylophone on steroids

  • I'm thinking about getting one, but I've already got the KAOSSilator and Mini KP in my arsenal: what can this bring to the table that those 2 can't?

  • Aw c'mon, it's a neat little box but to say that it replaces a proper analog synth is just dumb. Seriously--this would replace a Prophet 5 or even a Polysix? Heck, it wouldn't replace an Alpha Juno 2!

It's great for a cheap lofi sound fx, or a Theremin-esque lead but you're not going to bust out a Minimoog bassline on this thing, or string/brass sounds.... or oscillator sync sounds.

Makes me wonder what analog synths you had. Or maybe you're just overselling the thing.

  • @theoriginalmrsm Of course it's not gonna replace those things. BUT Obviously you haven't seen the demo where it was multitracked with overdubs creating pads & chords, bassline & melody.

  • Good vid. man!

  • Sorry If it's a stupid question, but this thing CAN be plugged directly into

    the computer, right?

  • @Jaepark24 this thing is so clanky and cheap it is whit is 60 bucks spend some money and get something you can use... For music what are you going to do....

I bought it modified it and released my 299 mopho from dav=ve smith was much better this is a big rip off.

  • Comment removed

  • @jonbon1242 If it were anywhere near the price of the mopho, then it might be a rip off... But it's NOT. It's $60......the mopho is $400. I mean come on.

  • why does everyone want to run an ipod or a kaosillator into this? get original and run a synth or something thats already running its own LFO....

  • @reconstructiv Why don't YOU post a video of you doing just that? Show the underlings this "originality" instead of posting useless comments. People are just demonstrating the monotron's capabilities in their own way. I appreciate seeing what can be done with it BEFORE I buy....regardless of whether it's a "synth with it's own LFO running", or a piece of music on an ipod running through it to give me the general idea. At least they're showing us something.

  • @937emotion i cant argue and i actually did mean to post a vid, just forgot. the monotron is worth the money and capable of more than youll see in most these videos. the plus to have a real korg ER-1 like i do is that i can run the line in (i could be wrong, i dont own an ipad) and manipulate it some with the er-1, have that delay and ring modulate it.

  • @reconstructiv I don't use an ipad/pod either. I'm actually a synthesist(think nord lead, jp8000 etc...).I just got my own monotron yesterday & have a korg ds-10+ on the way. I also bought a bunch of cables for the right interfacing with my mixer, synths, dsi etc...The monotron seems to be really cool on it's own as well as a filter box. I can agree that most of these videos really don't demonstrate high art by any means, but then again, I'm not really looking for that. Just a quick demo.

  • @reconstructiv Sorry, ran out of room. lol. My opinion is that more often than not, it's better to sample bits & pieces as opposed to relying strictly on synths alone, because you get much more control over the composition. You can piece together modulated synths & sound much more complex & ear pleasing than the typically limited tools available per synth patch. Add different processing to each of those pieces & you have NIN. lol There's just so much more depth to the sound. Most keep it simple

  • @937emotion i completely agree, and often use nin in the same reference... clearly he rocks out stuff for a few hours and then find those perfect chunks to put in the songs. you should link me to your music if you got some online. i make breakcore/idm and chiptune mostly, but i make too many genres/styles to specify, too many ways... nord lead and jp8000 sounds hot haha

  • I bet this guy was gutted apple didnt invent the monotron, but then again if they had it would break after half an hour and cost 6 times more

  • nice iphone, and yeah, you've god some IKnowledge :D

  • Somebody here sure loves apple. Can't you just say "external audio source such as an MP3 file"?

  • Comment removed

  • @Toulji Um...No, because an mp3 "file" is not an external audio source. It's the machine that has an output jack & plays back the mp3 file or tape or minidisk or monotron synth's output that matters. The monotron has such a jack(phones). What fricken difference does it make?

  • @Toulji because apple is two syllables, that's 14.

  • So how do you hook a guitar or keyboard up to this thing???

I have tried with no luck.Im getting no sound from the guitar when it is plugged into the aux and out to an amp.Am I doing something wrong????

  • @jsnhrv You have to first amplify the guitar, then send the amps output to the korg monotron's aux input.

  • @jsnhrv If you have a guitar fx processor with amp models, that will probably work better. Just plug the guitar into the fx box, then out to the monotron. A keyboard should work without being amplified because it's already at line level.. Just make sure you're using the right cables/adapters.

  • Haha this is so cool

  • Korg always makes cool shit. love it

  • Scratchy, distorted, flangey koolness!

  • very cool!

  • Just call SPLURT!

  • I was waiting for you to do a review on this baby. I got my monotron two days ago and it kills! There are only a few in Canada at the moment, so I am lucky to have one! Keep them reviews coming you rock!

  • what a video! nice! review! you are the best!

  • bad ass man! thanks

  • Really awesome little machine its really cool to do some modulation and filtering with it and also that red red wine song its DOPE!!! love it keep this vids up splurt really miss your music vids with the kaossilator and other stuff u use LIKE LIKE.
