Great to see this fun ad uploaded, although I think the idea a "nanny state" is behind the change in the message is a little far-fetched. It has more to do with a tightening on advertising rules so companies cannot make unsubstantiated claims. Surely that's a good thing?
Have you noticed they've taken out the bit in the 2009 version where the red car falls into the chasm because he's too heavy. Probably a nanny state censorship because of the peril. I much prefer the 1989 version.
man, THESE were the days! but no more. why? coz we're now in the "PC/Nanny system"... and it's gone MAD!
and the sad irony is that now that kids r pretty much allowed to raise THEMSELVES, they're opting to spoil their appetites (and healthy development) with the very snacks that promised WOULDN'T spoil their appetites!
I only have this one recording of TSW, there is some in-vision continuity and some trailers (mostly generic ITV graphics) and stuff. I have a couple of Westcountry and UTV recordings too, not sure if there's much of interest besides ads. I have some cable stuff (mostly Sky One) but that will all be from 1998 or later.
lol this is still showing on TV in the uk

This Version will be in a Steven Greenwood show soon:
Health & Safety and Steve had a Race,
All Health & Safety did was ruin the Place,
They took all good things from us, like the Orange Bendy Bus,
But good old Steve he took the Motorway,
He's looking for some speed, 70 is Good,
And he looks just about Right...
OH NO! The Bridge is out! Health and Safety fails!
But good old Steve he took the Motorway!

@gmgc81 and by doing so, completely destroy the entire meaning of the advert.

Because the new edited version has removed the 'cos he knows it won't spoil his appetite' line, it no longer makes sense.
