There is the big difference between that beautiful cover too the original song , wheni listened to to this cover i was in total shock i cant stop listen to this its the music for my soul 'big difference when blondi sings and says the words with no soul like she farting the words 'and when he sing that you feel the mining of the words Thanks for this Great song!!!!!!
They all got together again last weekend (10/9/10) at The Festy Experience music festival in Virgina. Never heard them before, but they got me. They did Heart of Glass as a closer. Eerie / haunting - then they brought it up to disco speed. And yes, mandolin is a big part of their sound and they have a good one, Pete Frostic. Singer is Jesse Harper.
The Civil War works as a relationship tearing apart.
this is genius! But that's fine because not all humans are smart to understated art , go listen to justin biber thatssuit,ד for youre iq......... PEAS AND LOVE
@myjsallday44 yeah, ever since i first heard this song i go to sleep to osft or jesse hunter every night. they've lodged in my heart; it's too bad they broke up.
For some reason, I had to watch and listen a few times to realize the song and video fit perfectly as an allegory for the entire War - the line "We could have had it cruising, yeah..." just sends chills down my spine now. Not sure if we would be better or worse as a country if the War had not happened. If instead, there had been real compromise....
Yes - like abolish it, stamp it out completely, but make the Southerners that were completely invested in it not feel as if they had been robbed. I am willing to bet that a large number of slaveowners would have been willing to change if they could have seen some kind of economic replacement. That would have just left the hard-core idiots, who would have been breaking the law at that point, and rather than a war, it could have been a law enforcement issue.
@StampCreekStomper Lincoln wanted slavery abolished, but by the end of his own life he had more slaves than ever before. He could go nothing about it, because like the rest of us, he was enslaved to the banking system.
for the "once i had a love..." part are: C#m(x2)->EM->F#m
and for the "in between..." part:
F#m->C#m
the whole song floats back and forth between these chords. i'll figure out the mandolin (not sure if its a mandolin but my gut says it is) parts and put them up in case you were looking for those.
I thought I recognized the terrain when I saw the first frames of the video - I can hear the cannon and rifles from that battle at Stanardsville each Fall :)
I am sitting a mile from Rio Hill now....
Great song and arrangement. I hope these guys go far!
I can't stop listening to it over and over again! They put a lot of thought and love into this cover, and the video. It brings new meaning to this, already well loved, song. It has a PERFECT slow-building climax, then floats down into a nice, gentle ending. It's refreshing to hear REAL musicians sing. You can feel their love of the song, and of singing. Simply beautiful! =0)
I struggle to think which is better, the song (the cover of which I think truly surpasses the original, FAR surpasses) or the video (the reenactment and artistic filming of which were also amazing). In conclusion, the cohesion of the two is...
I looked up the Battle of Rio Hill, and from what i read "We could have made it cruisin'" fits it really well.
This is one of those songs you'd wish had more views.

I love this song, and I love this video, I love how it is slowed down just a half step, and it fits the song perfectly.

Liked the video--very powerful, but the song isn't right without the embeded ostinato.

anyone figure out chords?
Jibs104 2 years ago
hey the root chords are:
for the "once i had a love..." part are: C#m(x2)->EM->F#m
and for the "in between..." part:
F#m->C#m
the whole song floats back and forth between these chords. i'll figure out the mandolin (not sure if its a mandolin but my gut says it is) parts and put them up in case you were looking for those.
