  • Saxon ..she was beautiful ...a much loved person....a great singer and gentle and kind.....I remember her running off with Kevin Todd and it was a big scandal then...no one would blink an eye now... but he really love her...she was very sweet ...have happy memories of her

  • Often wondered what happened to the most beautiful shiela I ever laid eyes on. I know she married Kevin Todd, remember thing lucky bastard. Then was devestated when watch a dvd of a Long Way to the Top and saw her beautiful face come up when Col Joye sang rock and roll heaven. 64 and bloody cried. My late wife couldn't believe it. Me crying that is.

  • I remember seeing her coming out of the Festival hall in Brisbane. She was gracious. I still have her autograph 40 years.

  • I remember seeing here coming out of Festival Hall in Brisbane and was gracious. I still have her autograph 40 yrs.

  • This beautiful lady have a beautiful voice.

  • please,, correct her name. this beauty spelled her stage name Laurel Lea..

sadly she left us in 1992.

  • Nice beat, nice voice

  • Black passin'

  • Saxon, just know that she was gorgeous as you can see.

  • Great!

  • Laurel Lee has such a great voice and just have to look at her too see how beautiful she was!! It's amazing how such talent wasn't a major star..... I hope she had a happy life! Love the music ..... and thought she did this song originally, but found out differently! Wish I knew more about her!

  • She was gentle kind and just a lovely person

  • She could be easily mistaken for Nancy Sinatra. Just as cute.

  • Saxon so cool, that's she's your Gramma. She was so popular. And so pretty and talented. :0)

  • I think it's artsy - like old beatnik - cool.

  • DID THE ESSEX do this song first?

  • Yes.

  • Pretty good but corny as hell.

  • Not corny, just typical for the time. I like it.

  • YOU GO TO HELL!!!!

  • Crazy Aussie! I don't even know how I know this song, One of my Dad's 8 track tapes comes to mind.

  • She is so sweet. I was about 11 when I used to watch her on tv. I used 2 go 2 the mirror and sing her songs. She always had such a pretty smile. When did she leave us?

  • This is my grandma. I'm 11 now and i never got to meet her my dad has been a fantastic support and told me all about her. I'd love to see her in person but i always know she will be looking down on me. Please tell me any imformation about her we are trying to gather as much as we can. Regards Saxon

  • If she is indeed your grandma you should be proud of her. She's very pretty and fortunate that she performed well on stage and made a lasting impression on people. :-)

  • well said Saxon

  • @Shadowseeker66 Then I guess your Grandad was/is Kevin Todd? I remember when she married Kevin all of us young blokes back then were devestated, there went our dream girl. Hope you find out lots about her. Never met her, but symbolised evrything nice about Australia.

  • @Shadowseeker66 Hi Saxon, I travelled with your grandma & great grandma when Laurel was a teenanger. I have a large portrait of her that Con had & would like to pass it on. I need to get in contact with Mark somehow? How can we do that? regards Tommy. "Figalafa"

  • Oh my! So this is the singer of that song. I have such good taste. I will complement myself.

  • Kylie Minogue is a Australian pop singer who has been around since the '80's. I sent you one of her earlier videos. I think there is a strong resemblance between Kylie and Ms. Lee.

  • She's hella pretty...kinda reminds me of Kylie Minogue.

  • who's Kylie Minogue?

  • Love the effect at 1:46. Dick Lester must have been watching for a year later he used a similar effect on Paul McCartney in A Hard Days Night.

I guess because it involved more people, the chorus harmonies in this version are to me much better than the Essex original.

Indeed Laurel Lee was a beautiful and talented singer. I'm sure she would've made it in the USA had the fates been kinder. We will never forget her.

  • love this song!

  • A great rendition on the Essex hit, i was madly in love with Larel back in the day.. yum !

  • I love this song so much, great classic one of my moms favorites.

  • indeed she was beautiful. and her voice makes me melt i hope she rests in peace

  • I was only about 12 but I remember her on tv thinking she was soooooooo pretty and a great voice too. She was my favourite!
