Terrible audio. Very muddy sound but you cant help that with the inbuilt mic on a camera. Nice to see this guy still doing it and they do sound like a tight unit
I think I have one of his guitars, or so I was told, you can see it in my video "Deep Blue dJinn in the studio, Jan 2011" . Its an awsome strat, ash body, blond neck. This video makes me wanna netflix the old monkeys episodes.
Pretty good version of a tune first recorded by the Liverpool Five from the UK. Their version has recently turned up on You Tube . It's af******g knockout and well worth checking out the obvious influence it had on the Monkees, Sex Pistols and Revere and the Raiders
Maybe I'm just too old to hear anymore, but why is he omitting the last chord of the song? The progression can be found several places in popular music; Aaron Tippin's Working Man Phd is an example.
I don't think he omits the C. He is just hitting it with a different rhythm. The first two times he does the progression, no, I don't hear the C, although he frets it, but after he starts singing, every time he does the E. G.A...the C is in there.
@mnpd007 Yea that's a bit irritating. i'm not sure if he's hitting that C or just delaying it a bit. Also reversing the order of the verses. It's all good. The guy still rocks!
He's actually a VERY screwed up person, and not all that nice, someone told me she met him at a Concert and she complimented him and he asked her to come F*** him - what an A**hole.
Not to mention - he used beat up Davy Jones a lot - look it up!
Could you message me links to this info? All I know is that Pete claims (in his commentary track for the movie Daydream Believers) that Davy hit him FIRST in the famous "punch in the face" incident. Tho I will admit that, from things I've heard Pete say, it sounds as tho he has a bit of suppressed anger. If that's true, I hope he can work through it. I also hope that he has a 100% recovery from his cancer. I believe that he's quite a remarkable individual.
Do you believe everything you hear? It is true though that Davy and Peter got into some scuffles but I actually heard both of them laugh about it in later years.
@atisaseret He is not a screwed up person at all, times have changed and so has Peter from many years ago. He is not an A**hole. Please don't refer to someone like that ever again >:(
I like this version much more than Mickey Dolenz's. I like all the monkees. They have their different styles. I didn't know they were playing solo. I thought that two or three of them were still touring around. You can't keep good music away for long! Thanks for posting! Peace and togetherness all the way! Ultrastar1
Fact is I knew it was Boyce and Heart who created the song but never knew it was for Paul Reveere and the Raiders. I always thought the Monkees performed the song first.
You are correct. It was recorded and on the Paul Revere and the Raiders LP "Midnight Ride" before the Monkees recorded it and changed some of the original lyrics.
@kawabunga66 and eugeneBo.....actually guys, the tune was first offered by B and H to the Liverpool Five in 1965 when they were recording their "Arrive " album in LA. Their version is very edgy and much better than any that followed....it has recently turned up on You Tube and well worth checking out.
