@roquefort88888 i take it you're not a fan of peanut butter, bacon, and banana sandwiches. once started, it's impossible to stop. all taste sensations are satisfied with that combination of ingredients. the secret is in the bacon, which has umami, the 5th taste. This was discovered in Japan about a hundred years ago. and as they say in the american food service industry, 'just add bacon and cheese to it, that'll make anything delicious.' The King, may he rest in peace, was way ahead of his time.
@salgoudsamoht damn right buddy!!!i was skinny all my life then 3 years ago started working out....i was slammin the "elvis" sandwich every day fo about a year and a half then....BAM!!!! myocardial infaction!!!! quad bypass........havent had one since ,but damn, once you start eatin them fuckers its hard to quit....dem is some good ass sammiches!!!
@roquefort88888 you really ought to see the performance from 1977, in Indianapolis i think, of the King singing Unchained Melody. it can be found by searching elvis unchained melody. it was one of his last concerts. at the end of the video it says that Le Roi du Rock would die in 56 days after that performance. it's incredible. he showed that his singing still moved thousands of people in an audience. his size was not unlike the average american today. just ahead of his time. and, show respect.
@roquefort88888 that's a very good point and i don't have an answer for that. it would be very interesting to hear Mr. Burton's stories about the King because he was a member of his band from around the late '60s until the end, although probably not part of the King's 'inner circle,' you're right about The colonel being shady. if it wasn't in Mr. Burton's contract that he had to do whatever was demanded, then it was probably understood to be so. i don't recall many people crossing The colonel.
In regard to the distracting and inconsequential comment in the balloon inappropriately placed in the video to soil others' viewing experience, I'd say Mr. Burton knew exactly what he was doing there. He was playing lead guitar in the King's band and getting paid. I don't think anyone was holding a gun to his head at the time to demand that performance under threat of physical harm. Maybe before the show, but not at the time he was actually performing.
@TimothySideburns Thank you. I'm a big fan of the king, the one I knew in the early 70's when i started jr. high school. people make a big deal out of what are perceived as his shortcomings, but one of the best videos i've ever seen is from one of his last concerts. he's singing Unchained Melody, accompanying himself on piano. he hits a high falsetto note at the end of the song and you can see the pure joy on his face. he lived for his fans and wrote the book on 'americana' style entertainment.
@jjetton561 Actually this isn't taken from Elvis' last concert. This here was filmed on June 19th, 1977, in Omaha, Nebraska. Elvis continued touring until June 26th in Indianapolis.
