The best thing about these tutorials is that you explain what these things actually do, and leave improvisation up to the viewer. Most wire tutorials just tell you exactly what to place and what to wire, and you have no other knowledge than that. This teaches you what the stuff does so you can figure out your own wire contraptions. Great tut!

Sorry for being a noob but can you hook up a button to a gate then hook that gate to another gate then hook that up to a thruster thus allowing you to press the button and activate the thruster? (Confusing I know :| )

MooGoesTheDolphin, the reason why you should use the wire mod over the regular button is becuase wat if you already filled the map with a bunch of contraptions using the regular button, you couldnt make any more contraptions with the regular button without having things move at the same time

@JiBii14 *Clears throat* The updated version of wire mod has it's own tab now... Up in the top of the spawn menu it should have "tools" then "models" then "Wire" ofcourse, there could be more depending on other addons.

Make the thing you want to activate the thruster

(Button, Dual Input...ect) on Toggle mode. It should have the same effect.

I can describe it nice and simple, and if you need me to explain it a bit more, just PM me.

Spawn your three buttons(Make the first button have an on value of 1, the seccond a value of 2...so on.), a Multiply gate, a constant value of one, and a screen

-Wire A of Multiply to the Constant Value

-Wire B, C and D to each of your buttons

-Wire the screen to your Multiply chip.

Just make sure no more then one button is on at a time!

if u fuck sumthing up u dont have to delete and start over if u 'update' the component it changes the value so u dont have to start over :)

This isn't a "how to make a moving platform" tutorial, it's a learning wiremod tutorial that happens to use a moving platform as an example. I'm just using this example to teach you about gates.

you can use a radio instead of wiring the two thrusters to the gate, can't you? just wire one radio up to the gate, and wire the two thrusters to the other radio? i'm still new at wire mod

You're a dumbass. Wired buttons are much better because if you accidentally hit a button on your numpad, it could set something off that you don't want to go off yet.

When I used to play 2 years ago it was not possible. The best way to control things while in a seat is to use the Pod Controller (this may have changed since I played).

Basically it takes input from your keys when in any kind of "vehicle" (such as a seat). Watch tutorial 19 for more info on the pod controller.

It means you installed wiremod incorrectly. If you're in your own client server and not in a public server, you probably installed the lua files of wire but not the models. If you're in a public server you probably didn't install it at all (at least not correctly)

Excelent tutorial, I could understand it better than most, and you did a great job presenting it. The only problem I found was that if there were two people, and each pressed the other button.. The vehicle wouldn't move. AKA: Guy1 Presses +, Guy2 Presses -, No movement. I do love everything else about your tutorials though.

There's really 0 reason for me to use it, since steam's in-game friends has evolved since then and has taken xfire's place.
