  • A lot of professors of piano are mediocre pianists, but this one sounds like the exception.

  • very enjoyable to listen to his Ravel. Sounds clear, and dynamic, and exciting, unlike many languishing interpretations by many other pianists. Who is this Tocco?

  • @freeqwerqwer He's one of the piano professors at the College-Conservatory of Music in Cincinnati.

  • Invigorating and inspirational! What beautiful technique and stance!

  • I found out I'm related to him.....did the family tree thing, and discovered we're distant cousins....but we share the same last name....I think that's pretty cool.

  • sorry for the wide format youtube did not placed correctly

  • Claudio ARRAU, I mean.

  • He is my teacher's teacher, whose teacher was Claudio, whose teacher's teacher's teacher's teacher's teacher's teacher's teacher was Bach!

  • Arrau's musical heritage goes back to Liszt which means it then goes further back to Beethoven, not Bach.

  • here it is in full: Me Eugene Kaminsky James Tocco Claudio Arrau Martin Krause Franz Liszt Carl Czerny Ludwig van Beethoven Johann Albrechtsberger CPE Bach JS Bach
  • @skryabyn

And I suppose Bach followed Jesus Christ!

  • @geertdehoux

    Pues si....jejeje

  • @geertdehoux

    Saludos.

  • ohh my GOSH..............

    silly

  • @lokopiano

Do you mean the 'list' ?

    Then I agree with you.

Thinking like that, hundreds of my former pupils who aren't worth a shit stand in a 'direct line' that comes from Liszt, Czerny, van Beethoven, Haydn!! HA HA!!

    Geert Dehoux, pianist.

  • @skryabyn

With all respect but, so what ??

My teacher's teacher was a pupil of a pupil of a pupil of Liszt, who was Czerny's pupil, and Czerny was van Beethoven's pupil and he was Haydn's and and and...

What does this actually mean ? Nothing.

    Geert Dehoux, pianist.

  • He made the piano sound like a symphony... cool...

  • Nicely done! He played it for the music and not the technique. It sounds like a jester serenading his lover in the morning.

  • What a great surprise to find the great James Tocco here on YouTube. He is one of the greatest pianists of our time.

  • I was looking for a Tocco "Our Town" performance which I have only heard over radio -- played so beautifully, and am happy to hear/see the Ravel. Please post the Copland, if possible!! Thanks.

  • It's the first time that I find a video of James Tocco playing at live. I only knew the Tocco's recordings of works by Copland, Bernstein and Schulhoff until now. Thanks for posting!

  • @Alvarordonez

Qué has estado trabajando ultimamente ?
