Cherokee used to be a really good lake back in the 70s and 80s. It was full of crappie and bass. My Dad and I caught 164 crappie in one day there. Coulda caught more, but we ran out of bait. And I once weighed in 23 pounds in a tournament there back in 1992. But those days are dead and gone. All the crappie got swallowed by the striper. And Ive watched the tourneys, most are won by about 13 to 16 pounds. Thanks alot TWRA.
@gdwag01 ... Hi. Poor Valley is up in the Mooresburg Area. This is the first time I fished there with my couzin and friend from VA. I live in the German Creek area on Cherokee... this is where I fish the most. Cherokee is a pretty good all around lake for mostly all species. Hope you enjoy.. Thanks
Nice fish for lake Cherokee. I fish on Cherokee too and I always got to poor valley. Poor valley is good for catfish i think but i bass fish alot, and the secondhand points are deadley for bass.

Bass fishing on Cherokee lake requires a lot of knowledge about bass fishing. You gotta know when, where, and how to fish in the current situations, if you lack that, no fish are caught.
