That's an absurd thing to say. There are a great many hard working people who serve their country daily (there are plenty of ways of doing it that don't entail joining the armed forces) who are opposed to the principle of monarchy. I'm not disputing that the Queen works hard. So do plenty of people. I don't even much care about her personal wealth. But I do object to an hereditary head of state. It is an anachronism that legitimises privilege over merit and has no place in a modern democracy.

The one thing about a President over a Monarch is at least you can vote for him or her. Apparently I am a 'SUBJECT' the thing that gets me is that the UK goes on and on about freedom and democracy and yet our own establishment is based on the tyranny of Monrachy/ aka Feudal. Some Brits don't understand the purpose of the Royal Family, they don't bring in tourism in enough to justify the costs of paying for their 'civil list' and funding their stately homes and their PR exercises are so phoney. If the Queens establishment really cared about the poor she would give some of her  billion of pounds to really important charities and be filling her many unused stately homes with her nations homeless.
