If you listen to Libera's Ave Maria, you'll know who's version it is, Connor's or Tom's. Tom pronounces Maria the American way. Connor's pronunciation is more Latin.
The ORIGINAL Gaudete, was performed as a top of the pops hit in the 1960s by Steeleye Span, the British folk-rock group. Nobody has done it better though many have since tried. This version is beautiful though. It is actually a late Medieval song, seemingly originating in Bohemia but popular all over Late Medieval Europe. Full of joy and innocence, so Medieval! It celebrates the birth of jesus from a Virgin called Maria.
Although we are not in time of Christmas this video doesn't stop to admire me: the perfect interpretation of Libera, the medieval air that impregnates the melody, the marvel of the voices, beautiful!!

@paulmilngavie2 Thanks a lot for your infos (both). I've never been in England, so I don't know insides of cathedrals. So thank you :)

I know it's the correct pronunciation, but I HATE the way choirs pronounce 'virgine'. They sing it 'vigine'. The all sound Liverpudlian!
Otherwise, this sounds wonderful.

@scardino1958 I searched for specific answer, but I don't find anything. So I asume that's their St. Philip's church :) But I'm not sure.

@EruvieBruinen This song is very ancient, do you know the author and the year?

@mlforlenza Look at the comment above :)

@mlforlenza It's anonymous, and probably from the 16th century. That's about as accurate as you can hope for.
