  • Random, but I was named after her :)

  • This movie was a complete failure. How could it possibly even touch the quality in which Jean M. Auel wrote her books? I really do hope that they remake the series, as the movies might stand a chance with the new technology.

  • @iidles me to.

  • I've read the third book of The Earth's Children, The Mammoth Hunter and I'm curious to read another 5 of them. Unfortunately I couldn't find them in Indonesia's book store. I love the book and I've watched the movie shown in the TV about 17 years ago, I like the way Jean Auel describe the prehistoric era.

  • I love this video...I love Jean M. Auel`s books

  • I really wish they would remake this movie now with all the technological advances developed since the 80s and do it for every book!

  • This is the best tribute vid i have ever seen.

I have all the 6 books and the movie and i am a huge fan.

And jimmy eats world is also one of my favourite artists.

So you see why i like this tribute so much!!

    THANK YOU:-)

  • Am I the only one who finds the rape scene incredibly arousing? I wish Broud was my man!

  • I am re-reading these books now after having read them years ago when first published. I know the movie was not liked by many but I thought Daryll Hannah did a very sensitive job of portraying Ayla. Yes, the sexy stuff is there so younger readers (under 18) beware - this is not Harry Potter! I remember enjoying the story for all of the descriptions of pre-historic human survival - the foods, plants used for medicines, hunting, tool-making, the different people Ayla meets - it's a great story!

  • I loved the books & have started re-reading them to refresh myself before the new book comes out. Hmmm... let's see... Jondalar and Ayla having sex... flip, flip, flip... Jondalar & Ayla still having sex... flip, flip, flip... still more hot, steamy Jondalar/Ayla sex... flip, flip, flip... Damnit! Get a room you two!

Ok, seriously, the books were awesome overall. The movie... was not without its charms.

Trivia: freeze frame at about 1:28. That's a young, pre-baywatch, Nicole Eggert.

  • what a gooooood movie and good books. they should finish the movies.

  • i love the books they make me feel like i am actually there with the characters

  • I iwsh the movie wasn't such a piece of shit. I mean, maybe it would've been good if I hadn't read the book first. But it was like they chewed up the book spit it out and then chewed on it again before slapping it on my screen.

  • @TheOneThatYouLoathe That is always happen with good books made into film. I think it's because when we read, the writer words and our imagination make it even better.

  • Love these books, I names my daughter Ayla.

  • The movie itself was terrible! The books are awesome.

This video used the good parts of the movie.

If they ever re-make this movie, i think it will be better.

  • Omg!! I didn't even know that they were thinking about turning this into a movie. Was it on cinemas??

  • @MsKonejo, don't think it was in the cinemas, it's a movie from 1986, you can watch it on youtube, just search clan of the cave bear 1986, 10 parts long :)

  • I`m reading the 4th book now (for the third timexD ) and I have a question:

In the "thanks" part at the beginning of the book Jean says that there are 2 more books to come, but I just can`t find the last book, only the 5th one..

Is she still whriting the 6th book or something? (don`t know if she`s dead or alive) Someone please answear me<3 (And exuse my english, I`m not so good in english whriting..

    Love from Norway!

  • @LilianaCroush I was thiniking the same thing as you!! I searched thought the internet and I found that she is alive and still writing the last book! She says that the information she has is too mush and she is trying to put everything in the next book!! That's why it's taking so long!!

  • @LilianaCroush

The 6th and final book of the series will be released March 29th 2011. It will be called 'The Land of the Painted Caves'. I will be ordering mine as soon as I can. X

  • @chickadee85smile I will be ordering mine as soon as possible too, but since I have readed the other 5 books in norwegian it would be best for me to wait til it`s been translated, and that would take a while... So don`t spoil it for me^^

  • @chickadee85smile i hope so we will see.

  • @LilianaCroush she is indeed still writing the 6th book. Its supposed to come out next year

  • @isisrulz i dont think its ever coming.

  • the Stone shelters was the only novel that I ever bought for my self, new in Hardback as soon as it came out. Just amazing series. My favourite living author. Do you know she had a book translated into English at her own expense, just so she could use some of the iddeas in her book. Better than Tolkein.

  • I want to watch the whole movie, but I can't seem to find it anywhere on DVD/Video?!

  • por que demonios ponen esa estupida musica???? Dejen el sonido original, no sean pendejos!!! No se molesten en evniarme comentarios, nunca los leo!!!! jajajja

  • It is an amazing story BBAlover1997

Ayla will stay in your memory for the rest of your life.

To others, the movie was a flop because it just doesn't do justice to the book. There are many vital scenes and concepts that just aren't in the movie. It destroys the overall story.

  • I'm still reading the first book lol.Right now, the part im at, Broud seems like a good guy! I cant believe he goes all power mad. Anyway, love the book, im only 12 and it's like, the best book i ever read!

  • this was a good movie i dont know what everyone else is talking about. and this was a very touching video :]

  • @100Hippi Is there a dvd already?? I want to watch the movie!!

  • I liked the book way better than the movie... i still hope they make movies for the rest of the series though:)

  • the books are great but all the sex scenes between ayla and jondalar are too long and most of the time useless.

when will they release the last book?

  • @jositoxxx1 Yeah, I liked the storyline except for all that and finally quit at the third book.

  • i loved this movie. why the hell was it a flop?

  • I'm 13 and I lov the books but I wish her and jondaler didnt have sex every few pages

  • lawl i agree

  • @xxiluvmoviesxx what else did cave men have to do?

  • i think it's ironically funny that this video is called Hear You Me, yet there is no sound for the first 35 seconds

  • and Ayla is really beautiful

  • I wish they would make movies for the next books. mammoth hunters I think would be the best of them.. :)

  • The best books.. I love it

  • This book series was absolutely amazing, I loved it, I loved the take on Cro-magnon and Neanderthal culture. The movie was good, just unfortuntely misunderstood. :(

If I get into more filmmaking and directing when I get older I would love to plan a re-do of the entire series, thats if I can get filmaking rights.

Or someone else could do it...maybe Peter Jackson.

  • does anyone know a good link to watch the movie?

  • the entire series is wonderful but the first book is simply the best

  • @Demoness82 there is a 6th book on the way in this series it seems. saw it on pre order on amazon.

  • i know there would have been a 6th as it says in shelters of stone. but thank you for reminding me :-D

  • I just finished reading the book & loved it soooo much! Yours is the first video I found with clips from the movie, thank you, i LOVED IT! AWESOME! Thank you Jean Auel for your great works! Oh and I thought the neanderthals would be uglier than the movie had them, their barrel-chests were smaller in than the book, and Durc was so cute! I am starting book 2! I hope Broud is run out or the clan splits & Brun gets to rule again! Then Brun can make Durc leader if he'd do that!

  • oooh i love the movie and the book it´s awesome!!!! & i think ayla is prettier.

  • To Imlover14:

I really enjoyed this video. I have not seen this movie since I was a child, and I enjoyed your artistic scope on this story. Also, I think that the subtitles were appropriate, for those who may not be familiar with the story line. Thanks for an awesome video!

  • Ugh, I HATE Broud.

But I didn't picture Ayla or the neanderthals like this, Ayla was a lot, well, prettier, and the neanderthals a lot uglier and not so human.

The books rock, but the movie doesn't.

  • She is actually very beautifull in the movie :)

  • I still think that the book was better. Broud was a fucking jackass in the book! But still... goodish kind of book

  • I'm reading it again and Ayla's kind of a brat too, you know. Broud is very unreasonable, yes, but if you really read what Ayla's thinking, she's really disobedient and stubborn. If I was there I'd smack her more than once.

  • She was only disobedient when she was young, though. She became much more obedient as she grew older, but Broud was still abusive and horrible. Most eight year olds are a bit bratty. :P

  • Maybe it's just because the first time I read the book, I didn't have a six year old stepbrother... but now that I've aquired one and I'm reading the book again. I may just be sick of children talking back and not doing as they're told ;)

  • @FinlayO i think she was merely human, rather than neanderthal. she innately & instinctively thought & behaved differently. broud was an @rse. would have been better for the clan had he been killed on the mammoth hunt.

  • @pfalky2k amen to that!!!!

  • @TheMozymo cheers ears :) hark at me getting all worked up over a book. but then, i'm one of those nerdy bookworm types for whom authors are AT LEAST as big as rock stars lol. & earth's children is a damn good story (so far. i'm 3/4 through TVOTH)

  • does anyone no if they are gonna make the other books into a movie ... and does this movie include thonolan and jondalar

  • I dont believe so, 'cause this movie was such a failure when it came out. Not to mention it would probably be done by now, it's been 23 years.

  • well i thought she took back the film rights thats why they couldnt make the next ones but i was more wondering about if she was ever gonna give them to someone

  • They were planning to but the movie was a flop so it never happened

  • I've heard that the movie doesn't do the book its full justice (because it is too long) but does very well anyway

    love the books

  • Hey Imlover 14, please tell us the name of the movie, so that we can buy it. I have read all the 5 books , they are simply fantastic and i would love to see how is the movie!!!!! THANKS FOR POSTING. I never knew that the 1st book has also become a movie.

  • @saildreamer1 my mom loved the book and then she said the movie wasn't all that great but i guess that movies based off of books never are :)

  • She was perfect for the part of Ayla. That is exactly how I imagined her while I was reading the book. :)

  • i wana watch his movie really bad i love the books, but i cant find it anywhere if anyone wants to upload it that would be fanbloodytastic thanx

  • i bought a copy i ordered from HMV and it cost about $20 australian dollars, but i'm sure you could order one from wherever you are for a similar price

  • Great video. That's ok about the subtitles. I like them. I made a video like this. I named it THE SPIRIT OF AYLA. I read that you have a mac and are using iMovie. In iMovie there is a cropping tool. To get rid of any subtitles or things like that I use the cropping tool and that will eliminate whatI want to eliminate in the picture. I think you made a great video. five stars

  • i cant wait 4 the 6th book damn it!!! Icry every time i watch this vid. good job

  • @aussipwincess i know!!! im sooo pumped!!!!

  • great video, you did a wonderful job!

  • Is there no videos of them actually speaking?

  • Whats thr name of the song?? Can you please tell me?? cheers!!

  • Hear You Me - Jimmy Eat World

The song name is usually in the titles of my videos. ;)

  • Thank you very much. Peace!!!

  • I love the series! I'm eagerly and impatiently awaiting the next 2 books.

  • I love the book.. I'm reading the third now. I really want to see the movie, but I can't find it anywere. I have no hopes of the movie, but I still want to see it...Oh, I cried so much in the end of the first book. :O

  • Hey, I'm on the third book, too! It's such an awesome saga.

  • i am yet to see this film but i can tell you the earths childrens series is so worthy of any bookshelf, esp clan of the cave bear( the characters are the most substantial of any character in any of the other books with the exception of jondalar)

  • Jean Auel isn't dead.

btw, the shelters of stone has a 'open' ending, there has to come another book

  • i just finished the book and i can't wait to start the valley of horses.i love it and i know ill love the nest book...the movie though...:(

  • it is. playing ayla in mmorgames, love her live her, hope u all enjoyed the books>mine fav>horsevalley :))

  • the movie was crap, but it was how I pictured Ayla.

love the Earth Children series, I'm reading the fifth book now. does anyone has an idea when the sixth book will come?

  • The last book is 'The Shelters of Stone'. It's just brilliant. Jean Auel is dead now.

  • This whole film makes a joke out of The Earth Children series. The Clan are meant to be neandrathals. It's just crap, in my opinion.

  • honestly though that is exactly how I pictured Iza.

  • Loved the book, hated the movie. Don't disappoint yourselves if you're looking for the film! I'd rather watch interpretive dance....

  • wow really good... i just wish someone would put the whole movie up - i really wanna see it

  • Great Video and the song is perfect for it!

  • does anyone know where I can watch this online?

  • love the series

  • Have read all of the books. Just an amazing journey :)

  • Massive job done on your Video I watched this Movie when it 1st came out back in the 80's thought it was fantastic & is one of my all time favourites next to Enemy Mine I read the book about 10 years later & like all top movies the book is always better as you can visualize what's in the writer's head thru your own eyes. Been looking for a copy of the video for year's

  • hello you can find the movie in canada. i found myne at Polo Park in Winnipeg Manitoba, at HMV just thougth i'd let nw

  • Sorry, I removed your comment by accident. The song is "Here You Me" by Jimmy Eat World.

  • I'm from Holland and I am reading the second book now. I want to see the movie, but I can't find it. Does anyone know where I can see it?

  • The second book was not made into a movie, nor the others.

    I wish they were....

  • Great job!

It's so weird; Ayla was very pretty, and the Clan people weren't.

  • well duh, they were Neanderthals and she was a person.

  • Cro-Magnon

  • LMAO..... "Ayla" is MY name!!!!

    that's wierd!!!

  • I love that name! ^.^

  • Ask your parents why?

Ayla and the clan of cave bear were a big movie. Darrly Hannah first big movie....

  • You know, the unrated version of this movie has some very graphic sex scenes.

  • No it doesn't...o.O Does it??

In the movie I own, there's only the rape scene with Broud.

  • I saw this movie awhile ago, on either HBO, or Cinemax, or one of those channels. The verson shown here is the one fit for television.

Anyway, I won't get into details as your nickname implies you may be 14.. Nice job, btw.

  • Better yet, just disregard what I just said.

  • Pal, Is this your first video? C'mon, It's fine. And, anyway, anything made from the EC Series Rules. So, there you go.

    Nice song.

  • Excellent job!

  • This is an awesome story so far. I've got about a chapter or so left with the second book. I actually bought all five books because my wife said that I'd love them. She was right and I'm glad that I did.

  • Yeah the first couple are good then it turns into Ayla ... invents the wheel ... Ayla ... invents wine etc. Also the book which is second to the end is like porn ... (every few pages they stop and have sex)

  • @penguinchicky my kind of gal!!

  • The Neanderthals in this look like humans, wtf.

  • sorry i meant to put the 2nd book

  • i am currently reading the 1nd book and i am about 100 pages to the end of Valley of the horses i think it is an amazing book and i think you have done a wonderful job =)

  • I'm currently reading the 4th book, Plains of Passage. I want to see the movie soooo bad! Thanks for sharing this! The book series is great. =)

  • have read the whole series over and over. Broud was a nasty person? Love Creb and Iza. So glad she found Jondolar and Baby and Whinnie :)

  • I loved these books, and am just now looking to watch the movie...wow, the story is just facinating!

  • As one whom "The Clan of the Cave Bear" has recently reached out and grabbed, I found this very powerful. Very few episodes in books have moved me to tears: Ayla's being cursed with death did just that.
