Okay, Im prepared to be shot down in flames here BUT...(& yes I know this is an old video). His bucks are ALL the same. He leads with his off hind, curves to the offside, and the off hind comes slightly higher. It is exactly the same whether he's circling left or right. Watching him trot he doesn't seem *right* behind. I'm not saying he's lame, just he doesn't seem to have a smooth, fluid way of moving ( partic at 3.50) at 3.15 his off hind lands and then the bucking starts...Just obvservations.
Get a lunge whip already! He is not disrespecting you, he's just trying to show off!! He's just being lazy! Clicking will not get him to canter! He needs to learn to pay attention!!!!!
This horse is disrespecting you BIG TIME. He's not playing around, he is kicking out at you! He is doing whatever he wants, and warning you when asked to do otherwise.
I think all animals are fight or flight. If they feel threatened and think they can out run the predator then they will, but if they know they can't run far they will defend themselves by any means possible. At least thats my opinion
Every time Before i got on my mare I would let her run and buck Its just fun to watch them And its not hurting them in any way. It allows them to be more relaxed when your riding,. This horse has the same attitude that my mare had. hes just having fun. there is a difference between being upset and having fun. If he was upset His actions would be much more aggressive He would be kicking out towards her. But hes not. He would be charging towards her but hes not. Hes having fun
he's def NOT pissed or upset..look at those ears...he's just being a goof...i used to "play" with my mare in the arena (except not tacked up) and she would buck and rear and have fun. However, in my opinion, I don't think it's the greatest idea to let them do this while restrained by tack, especially reins though...you're lucky he didn't flip himself over and get caught in a mess :\
I agree with you.. you can't just expect a horse that hasn't been worked with in a while to be 100% perfect, it takes time, you have to give it some time to get used to it.. get back in the game..
please note, those who are worried about this horses happiness and safety: when lunging a horse, especially one that hasn't been exercised in a long time, they will often buck and rear, and it's simply letting off steam. note the horse's ears are forward the entire time, meaning he's more excited than nervous. also, when he snorts those few times, he's relaxed. a snort is a horse's way of saying he's calming down. its like us sighing.
I play alot of the time with my horse, making him to do this, well infact I'm not making him but I'm letting him, there is a different, she was letting him. Sometimes its nice to lay with your horse you know?..
Horses protect themselves by biting, rearing and striking down with their front legs and bucking. They mainly do these to people when they feel threatened, are in pain, do not like something, or are just being naughty ;) ie: if they are fresh or green.
@EvaSkemm Yes they can attack people We had a mare at the barn i use to ride at if you disturbed her in any way and she did not want to be disturbed She would go straight for your throat. With her teeth. So yes horses do attack you from the front end.
Retired racehorses are some of the best horses ive ever met/ridden. My favorite is retired. I sadly cant ride him though =( My old instructor bought him.

What was this meant to achieve? It's almost like you want him to act like this. Congratulations, you've ruined your horse.

Sometimes the best thing for a horse is to let them run and buck and let them be a horse.
