No what would have prevented this would have been for Takako to have had some female friends who gave her a comfort weekend consisting of watching movies, eating popcorn and chocolate(ok in this particular case a lot of chocolate) and badmouthing boys. Seriously, there is a reason we (girls) have these routines.
well then again Hayate only said no to her, Takako however went all evil and tried to destroy the world, and that was really messed up when she forced Sasame to screw with Mawata like that, i dont really think that popcorn and chocolate could have helped her
Its not the food per say (although any guilty pleasure is good at these times) its the buffer time of having a support group helping you cool off....Takako was more or less left alone with her emotions and the bubbled and brewed until she burst.
Only to an extent. There are more or less rituals regarding this. While a guy can help in certain comfort ways he will not/can not pull you up by the breeches and get you to move on with your life.
FYI- I live in a women's dormitory so I see about 10 of these a week. I think the female routine works out quite well.

Sometimes. When I go to certain stores, like Hollister, I usually wear rabbit ears of something stupid, just to get looks. Once I went into American Eagle wearing a racoon hat thing... Some middle schoolers ran away from me. It was nice... (I am a proud cheap-clothing wearer!)
