To anyone; 1.) what are the vision requirments to become a 19D cavalry scout?  2.) do you need to enlist in 11x infantry enlistment option and may not get cavalry scout?

@Claydurr 19D is a completely different field than 11x, so no you do not have to enlist as an 11x. The vision requirements are: 20/20 in one eye and 20/100 in the other, as long as your eyes are correctable to that standard they will still allow you to sign as 19D conditions may be "waiverable" as well.

@codyLIKESbaseball I think you can be anything in the 11 series of MOS ( don't quote me on that ) , and you don't go to Ranger School unless you want to be an NCO , before that you do your basic , your AIT (OSU) Then you go to RASF , if you pass you'll be put in a ranger battalion. Tabbed Rangers ( ones that go to ranger school ) are basically leeaders. Corporal , Sarge , etc etc etc. Or Commisioned officers.

@Vantzyourule all 11s can go to Ranger school because all 11s are infantry. Rangers are just advanced infantry. Im pretty sure you go to OSUT which is basic training and infantry school all at one station. But first you have to complete your AIT to go to a specialized school like Ranger school, Pathfinder school etc. I dont think you get promoted in Ranger school but if your mos is 18X or spec ops candidate you get promoted to E4 after completing your mos school.

Play sports until you get out of school, it will help you build endurence, and build yourself up to be able to work on a team with others. Im a scout and have bene for 4yrs now, the biggest thing to do until you graduate is to stay out of trouble, graduate HS and stay in shape after that if you still decide to go in as a scout it will be a cake walk through basic and ait

I started my dream of joining in some sort of recon force in one of the branches, Army gave me the best deal and now I leave may 5th keep it up stay healthy and determined . Most of all dont smoke or get in trouble with the cops thats the #1 nono unless you wanna be a marine

run and do A LOT of pushups. its gonna make your life so much easier during training. also, discipline is a very big thing. just work on small things like getting up on time - very easy, but small things add up ya know? and dont smoke. that REALLY messed me up. quitting sucks, but as a smoker running is even worse.

I served in the Australian Army, but i assume that its much the same in the US.

Just get fit, play lot of sports and work on running REALLY long runs with lots of shit of your shoulders, do push ups and all the other shit that the army does.

Im sure you can look on the internet on military fitness drills etc.

Hey. I was born in Germany and lived there until recently. Wuerzburg, Germany. I went to HS on Leighton Barracks. I came to Maryland, and enlisted. I'm going to Ft. Knox on April 7th, 2010 as a 19D. From what I understand, you can get a citizenship while in the Army. But you know what, contact a recruiter. He'll be able to answer any questions you've got. Theres no special school to get that MOS. You just need a High School Diploma, or a GED with 15 college credits. And qualify in MEPS.
