@huipio Even before his time with Magic Slim, John played with the great Sammy Lawhorn for several years. Then he played with a guy named Muddy Waters for about two and half years before he started playing with Magic Slim. So I think it's safe to say he was off to a pretty good start before he landed the gig with Slim. : )
