Watching someone else's flickering screen through a flickering screen is a serious mindf*ck. Thanks for uploading the video, at least I know what's going on. Now I just have to find out if it's still under warranty.
I have a HP Pavilion dv4-1412tx and faced the problem as yours but mine 'worse'. I've replaced a new LCD screen last 2 months at HP which is under warranty. Later on after a month of using it.. the freaking problem occurred again but this time it is the worse ever and this time the warranty had already EXPIRED. I was like ****!
My advice here is whoever out there who would like to buy a notebook/laptop please buy other 'brand' than HP. Say no to HP even it's one of the leading manufacturer.
My Hp dv4-2145dx almost identical problem to the one your laptop has. My laptop works fine if it is opened more then 90degress. Assuming that there was a problem with LCD flex wire, I opened the cover from the screen. Turned my laptop on, and slightly moved the Lcd wire (in the section where it always twitching when opening and closing laptop).... and turned out that I needed a new LCD-wire.
I have had that flickering problem since new - just put up with it and it went away only to return when it gets hot sometimes. Not impressed might try a Dell next time.
i have tha same problem n i talked 2 HP there charging me 400 is there any cheaper way n legit way....do i need 2 buy an lcd screen how much wud it cost ..thnxxx
@415francisco, well, if your laptop is still under warranty they should not charge you a single buck. If it s out of warranty, a cheaper alternative is to search on ebay for dead laptops of the same reference with working LCD, or go to a local repair shop and ask for a used working LCD screen (they receive lot of dead laptops with working LCDs, you know). It is not worth to spend 400 USD in such repair. If you can get it repaired for ~200 it would be ok.
@cdbular yea i looked around local shop n they said maybe 200 at i was lyke maybe itz too much so i was kinda hesitant but u said 200 im more comfortable being that price seemz reasonable now thnk you ...oh yea by tha way do u happen 2 hav any idea why tha screen actin up lyke thiz juz for future reference cus i only had mines bout a yr or so i was jus couple days away when tha warranty expired funny ha i guess they really tryna make that money lol
@415francisco, well i think that this series of laptops produced in the first semester of 2009 had a lot of factory defective screens. fortunately, mIne got damaged after 6 months of use and was still under warranty.
I bought dv-41220 us in usa, during January 2009, just after completing one year the battery died and for the past 6 months I am experiencing flickering problem will the company has any courtesy to response to this problem and if possible could they give a solution.I am using the laptop with utmost care and sparingly
@salahuddinnoor, Since the laptop is already out of warranty they won't take no responsability. HP will replace the batttery and the LCD, but they will charge you a lot of money. My recommendation is to get a replacement battery from ebay and a used LCDs , sometimes you can find used original working parts from people with dead laptops in ebay. Do not buy chinesse replacement LCDs they last one week. You can replace the LCD yourself by downloading the service manual.
@cdbular, Also you can go to a local repair shop and ask how much they charge for a LCD replacement. Both options are way cheaper than getting your laptop repaired by HP.
I have a dv41125br and I have the EXACT same problem. HP´s customer care was telling me that it was a problem due to my OS (linux), then, after 30 minutes running tests with the guy on the phone, he told me that i should send them my laptop. Its been more then a month and I still have no answer from them....
Maby its your driverid fuckt go to ati website and download new 64bit drivers i belive this laptop has 4gb ram so get new 64bit ati 3200 or 4200 card drivers
@cdbular ok my old desktop gave me this problem it had a ati 4870 card it workt ok but when i start a game the screen was mest up i reinstall the drivers and thare it workt
@kevincrutchley, I knew that it was not a driver problem since the beggining. The problem was present in the BIOS also where there are no drivers loaded.
@joshwaggoner14 , wll buying it from HP will cost you about 200 bucks, not including service. The other option is buying a LCD screen from and installing it yourself. It wil cost about a hundred bucks, but the quality of the those screens is not good, and could stop working in a couple of weeks.
ugh. exact same problem here. Also a dv4, bought in January. I really don't want to deal with HP but it's the computer I use for school and I need it. I mean I also have warranty from the store I bought it but I have no idea what they would do.
hey, i want to buy the hp dv4-1430us ... i think its the newest of the dv4 series but i am really scared it has this LCD problem.... any suggestions?? i love hp and dont want to switch
@kurdi82 , this is the dv4-1220us. All the dv4 models use the same screen model. I suspect that this problem was due to a defective lot of screen since all dv4s reported with the problem were bought about the same date, january 2009.
That is not supposed to happen. If it is still under warranty, send it for repair. If its not, just buy another laptop, you could find the model of your motherboard in ebay but you will have to install this for yourself.
I sent my Laptop in for the same problem, and guess what... Its happening again after they sent in back saying they repaired it. Now i have to repeat the whole process again to get them to repair it a second time. Fuck Hp...
also you can change the backlight, inverter, all those stuff...........im holding a toshiba and im having a flickering problem too......mine flickers sometimes but the flicker is purple or black in color.............screw you hp and toshiba!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am outside of the US and I got this problem. will the problem the offshore technical support fix it for me. I have tried to call them, but the number is keeping busy. I am in Mauritius now.
i have the same goddamn problem, man. these hp guys are real motherfuckers!!! i cant wait to upload my video!and you know what i have the same computer you have man!!! people should know about it!!!
@YANFRET Dude i agree, i bought a HP laptop for over $1,200 and this thing has a bunch of recalls, and also it has some problems, FUCK YOU HP... NEVER BUY A HP IN YOUR LIFE...
@bmxsnowskate I'm sorry to hear that. My Hp laptop was fixed. I had to buy a LCD cable and the boot cable if my memory serves. 7 months later the screen was once again literally FUCKED UP! I think it is caused by high and low voltages of electricity. The interesting thing is that it took exactly 7 months for the screen to start flickering. Now I have a Lenovo Thinkpad, which is for me the best computer I have ever used!
@Gibson299 You know what you stupid ignorant fucking bitch... Keep your comments Ta your personal self... I could give a fuck less what you say... You my friend obviously own a LAME Life... Considering you are coming on YouTube.Com... Starting shit... Never Once Did I Ask You Anything... Oh... Did I hurt your personal day... Great I am GLAD... Fuck You Bitch...
please help.. tha black portion of my Toshiba Qosmio x305 LCD has some orange/gold particles and the some of the white portion of the screen has turned into light green.. i dont know how to fix it ...
I had this problem. I sent it in to HP and it worked fine after that. The problem is with a cable connecting the laptop to the display. They'll replace the cable and it should work fine after that.
its most likely the wire harness to the LCD has a short witch is common in all laptops
dallasfignrocks 2 days ago
that looks like an inverter problem , $20 , it is a small board located just under the lcd screen
jaydfn 4 months ago
@jaydfn . no it was not an inverter problem. The LCD screen was defective and was replaced by HP.
